In a wheel loader, the tail-pipe is installed at the exhaust tube of muffler for the reduction of exhaust noise and the cooling of engine room, however, the cabin noise level can be largely increased due to the tail-pipe. In this paper, to grasp and reduce the cabin noise, a series of noise and vibration tests were carried out in addition to numerical simulations. As a result, the transmission path of exhaust noise toward the cabin was exactly identified and the improved shape of tail pipe, that can reduce the cabin noise, was derived through various numerical simulations and real tests.

Reduction of structure-borne noise in the compartment of a car is an important task in automotive engineering. Many methods which analyze noise transfer path have been generally used for structure-borne noise. These methods are useful in solving particular problem but do not quantify the effectiveness of vibration isolation for each isolator of a vehicle. To quantify the effectiveness of vibration isolation, the vibrational power flow measurement has been used for a simple isolation system or a laboratory based isolation system. This paper identifies the transfer path of booming noise in a SUV. The powertrain used for test has a in-line 4cylinder engine and 5-shift auto-transmission. This powertrain is transversely supported by four isolators. We calculated the energy flow throughout four isolator by the measurement of power flow and the contribution of energy flow at each isolator.

In this study, transfer path identification and output estimation are simulated by multi-dimension spectral analysis method (MDSA). Multi -input/single-output system give expression the vehicle suspension which each inputs are correlated reciprocally. In case of correlating with inputs, the system needs separating the each input signal by MDSA. Main simulations are about finding effective input by coherent output spectrum and selecting optimal input's number by multiple coherence function. Also, by shielding transfer path of each input, transfer path characteristic is identified in terms of overall integrated contribution level.

The reduction of the vehicle interior noise has been the main interest of noise and vibration harshness(NVH) engineers. A passenger vehicle has various and complicated transmission paths of sound and vibration. In order to identify the mechanism of transfer path, estimation of excitation force and exact modeling of transfer path are required. This paper presents method for estimating the noise source contribution on the road noise of the vehicle in a multiple input system where the input sources may be coherent with each other. And vector synthesis technique is employed to identify the characteristics of road noise and its transmission to vehicle compartment through noise and vibration analysis. Vibration reduction efficiency of each transfer path is evaluated by comparing individual vector components obtained virtual simulation.

Hermetic rotary compressor is one of the most important components for air conditioning system since it has a great effect on both the performance and the noise and vibration of the system. Noise and vibration of rotary compressor is occurred due to gas pulsation during compression process and unbalanced dynamic force. In order to reduce noise and vibration, It is necessary to identify sources of noise and vibration and effectively control them. Many approaches have been tried to identify noise sources of compressor. However, compressor noise source identification has proven to be difficult since the characteristics of compressor noise are complicated due to the interaction of the compressor parts and gas pulsation. In this work, Statistical Energy Analysis has been used to trace the energy flow in the compressor and identify transmission paths from the noise source to the sound field.

As a matter of fact, it has been not allowed to modify the shape of a vehicle body skeleton since the technical definition for the structure was fixed and the corresponding molds were developed. By the way, if it is available to apply an alternative to reinforce the skeleton without changing its mold, it must be much flexible to improve the performance qualities relevant to not only NVH(noise, vibration and harshness) but also crash and durability. Recently, a solution of so-called composite body becomes available for the need. We present a design method to insert the composite body inside a vehicle body skeleton in order to improve a structure-borne noise at the idle condition. The algorithms, topology optimization and design sensitivity analysis, are applied to mainly search the sensitive structural sections in the body skeleton and to extract the target stiffness of the sections. Inserting the composite bodies into the sensitive portions, it is predicted to achieve the countermeasures which can compromize the design availability in terms of the idle noise and weight. According to the validation result with test vehicles, the concerned noise transfer function is reduced and the idle booming noise is resultantly improved.

The method is introduced for estimating the noise source contribution on the noise of PDP TV in a multiple-input system where the input sources may be coherent with each other. By the coherence function method, it is found that the biggest part of the noise source in the PDP TV noise is generated by the PCB boards which consume high power and produce high heat. This analysis is modeled as three-input/single-output system because the noise is generated by three main boards, X-board, Y-board, SMPS that are located close to each other. The coherence function method is proved to be useful tool for identifying of noise source. In this study, Transfer Path Analysis using MDSA is implemented to determine the quantitative noise contribution of each board for PDP TV with the rear case closed and with the rear case open. And the possibility of noise reduction is confirmed through the experimental method that isolates the most contributing board by adding sound-absorbing materials to it.

In this paper, the vibrations of floor systems of which buildings are under construction are studied by experimental and analysis method. The first step is to measure the operational response data and FRF at the supporting points of the utility and the second step is to calculate the dynamic load by TPA Method which provided by LMS VirtualLab System Analysis Module. The dynamics we used to identify is expressed by below equation; $$\{F_{oper}\}=[H]^{-1}\;{\cdot}\;\{{.. \atop x_{oper}}\}$$ Where, H(Transfer function between position of the force and response) and x(response) are measured by vibration test.
This paper describes the acoustic analysis of mid duty truck. The focus of the analysis is on structure borne engine noise with major contributions of 2nd order. It has been previously recognized that the noise contribution of each transfer path of structure borne noise can be varied with the charateristics of each mounts and vibro acoustic sensitivity of car body. The structure of car body will be split up into three major sub components, which are modeled separately, the engine, the frame and the cab. The acoustic performance is evaluated on three levels: engine to frame transfer, frame to cab transfer, and panel contribution from cab to driver. In order to perform these analyses, analytical models are created for the engine, frame, cab and acoustic cavity. The models are linked through a coupled fluid structure calculation, and through FRF Based Substructuring for the structural couplings. Based on the structural coupling calculations, a transfer path analysis is performed to identify the most important transfer paths. These paths are then the focussing points for applying modifications to the structure or the mount system. Finally, a number of modification are proposed and their effect is quantified.

The facility equipments generate dynamic force on building floor and the force can be measured with force transducer. However, this method depends on the measuring capacity or range of sensor, or mounts installation condition of equipments. Because of this restricting condition on force measuring system, this paper suggests a indirect method, the TPA(transfer path analysis) method, that produces a closely approximate dynamic force of equipments. This method calculates the dynamic force by using transfer response function. Firstly, the calculated dynamic force of impact load and continuous load was respectively compared with the sensor-measured value to examine the accuracy of TPA method. After that, the dynamic force and response induced by large facility equipments - a cooling tower, AHU and a large ventilator - were calculated by TPA method and the validity of these value were examined.
