Characteristics of TNP-cellulose which prepared from carboxymethyl cellulose powder, CM32, as substrate for cellulase activity assay were investigated. Enzymatic hydrolysis of TNP-cellulose occured on the cellulose moiety but not on amide bonds, following Michaelis-Menten kinetics. Three cellulase preparations from Trichoderma viride, Aspergillus niger, and Cellulomonas sp. were tested for their pH and temperature dependences and compared with the method determining the increase in reducing power. The enzyme activity was found to have the same temperature range in both methods, however the pH range was broadened in the case of using TNP-cellulose as substrate. The colorimetric method for cellulase assay using TNP-cellulose as substrate was compared with the other methods: one based on determination of the increase in reducing power; and the other based on determining the decrease in viscosity of Na-CM-cellulose solution. The activities measured by the colorimetric method showed a linear correlation with the enzyme concentration of certain range in all three enzymes tested, and the activity values were proportional to those obtained from the other methods. Depending on the enzyme, however, the activity values from this method were not always in proportion to those from the viscometric method. suggesting that this method was not specific for determination of the endo-type cellulase.
The purposes of this study were to examine the effects of aerobic exercise capacity on free oxygen radicals in blood(FORB) during submaximal exercise in rowing ergometer and as for study purposes, a set of experiments were conducted using one group of 6 rowing players(RP) and the other group of 6 non rowing players(NRP) at the maximum heart rate reserve(HRR) 85~90% exercise intensity. Oxygen free radical was sampled 5 times including a rest period(ARP), immediate after exercise(IAE), 10 minutes after exercise(10MAE), 20 minutes after exercise(20MAE) and 30 minutes after exercise(30MAE). Accordingly, following findings were derived from current study. The effects of interaction between groups and times were significant in oxygen free radical(p<.05) and post hoc tests revealed that significant differences occurred between 10MAE and 20MAE and between 20MAE and 30MAE. In conclusion, the aerobic exercise capacity excellence RP group had more positive recovery pattern than that in the NRP group from FORB of negative influence to the human body
Palustrine wetland is often used for development work and green area creation. However, the ecological characteristic of vegetation is not frequently considered in planning. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate vegetation characteristic according to land-use of palustrine wetland and to provide basic materials in assessment of palustrine wetland and restoration and creation of wetland. Survey sites were caterogized into paddy, field, and mountain. Each category had two sites, so total 6 survey sites were investigated for vegetation. As a result, with a range of 61~92 species, total 216 taxa were confirmed, consisting of 71 families, 168 generic, 187 species, 2 variety 1 forma 1 subforma. Mountain received a high score in the evaluation score range of floristic regional indicator plants, and it was found that there were 10 families and 28 species of naturalized plant. Mountain showed low appearance, and fiddy and field showed relatively high appearance. Naturalized plants with slightly high vegetation cover ratio are Erigeron annuus, Amorpha fruticosa, Dactylis glomerata, Festuca arundinacea, Eragrostis curvula, Trifolium repens, Erigeron Canadensis, Ambrosia trifida, Oenothera odorata, Bidens frondosa, etc. Such naturalized plants should be removed to prevent terrestrialization of wetland and its harmful damages. Long-term monitoring and proper management of naturalized plants are expected to improve palustrine wetland into high quality biotope of rural area in the future.
We observed that the thick outer bark layer of Quercus variabilis hindered oak longicorn beetle (Moechotypa diphysis) from laying its eggs in inner bark (secondary phloem tissues). The outer bark thickness of Q. variabilis was average of 7.4mm, while those of Q. mongolica. Q. serrata and Q. acutissima were average of 1.1mm, 1.3mm and 2.0mm, respectively. Inner bark thickness was 4.8mm in Q. acutissima and 3.6-3.9mm in the other oak species. The outer shape of ovipositional holes on the bark by the longicorn beetle was $8-12mm{\times}6-8mm$ wide oval in Q. variabilis, whereas $5-9mm{\times}1-5mm$ narrow fusiform in the other oak species. Oak longicorn beetle drilled average of three ovipositional holes per a 1.2m-long log in a few Q. variabilis logs and its ovipositional rate was 15%. Compared to this, the longicorn beetle preferred Q. mongolica. All the 32 investigated logs of this oak species were drilled to have 20 ovipositional holes per a log and ovipositional rate was 56%. One third of the eggs laid already hatched in early June to damage the inner bark. It seems that oak longicorn beetle prefers oak species with smooth, thin and stable outer bark surface.
This experiment was conduced to clarify the effects of growth temperature and radiation on grain weight increase and grain nitrogen accumulation in rice. Final grain weight became heavy and grain-filling duration shortened with radiation increase during grain-filling period (GFP). In addition, grain nitrogen accumulated duration during GFP was influenced strongly, but final grain nitrogen content was influenced slightly by accumulated radiation (AR). Accumulated effective temperature (AET) described well variation of grain weight (GW) and grain nitrogen content (GN), but GW and GN showed large variation under different radiation during GFP, when related with AET or AR, indicating that there was a limiting in describing variation of GW and GN by any single factor between AET and AR. However, AET multiplied by AR could describe relatively well the variations of GW and GN regardless of radiation during GFP.
The present paper is a histological study of neurosecretory cells in the brain and the thoracic ganglion with the gonadal development in Palaemon serrifer. The reproductive cycle includes the successive stages of the growing period (February-March), the mature period(April-May), the ripe and spent periods(June-August) and the degenerative and resting periods(September-January). The neurosecretory cells are grouped into four types based on Matsumoto(1958) : A-,A'-, B- and E-cells. A- and A'-cells are $80-90{\mu}m,\;B-cell\;is\;30-40{\mu}m$ and E-cell is $10-15{\mu}m$. A- and B-cells are the positive to CHP and AF, while B-cell is the positive only to AF. The secretory grannules of a A-cell are transported to the axon, and at the same time they are discharged through the peripheral membrane. Of the four neurosecretory cells, A- and I-cells show the difference of secretory activity according to the gonad developmental process. In the female, A-cells show secretory activity for the ripe and spent periods, while I-cells show for the mature, ripe and spent periods. In the male, A-cells show secretory activity for the mature, ripe and spent periods, while I-cells show for the growing, mature, ripe and spent periods.

Productivity improvement of a shipbuilding company depends on how efficiently its limited resources are managed and utilized. Recently, research on modeling and simulation (M&S) to support shipyard production management system has been being under study. The production management based on M&S rejects decision making on experience, and it can establish productivity improvement method based on quantitative and specific data. In this paper, M&S is applied to the long-term plan as a part of the production planning in shipyards. To this end, the long-term plan processes and related management systems are analyzed. Based on the analysis, a simulation model and an application system using commercial simulation software are suggested. And basic structure of the suggested system is based on web technology such as Rich Internet Application, web services protocol for compatibility with existing shipyard enterprise systems. Utilizing the results of this study, it is expected that shipyard production planners can settle down work flow, in which one can establishes the production plan, simulates the plan, and analyzes the results, enabling a more reliable production plans.

The increased threat to commercial shipping by Somalia-based pirates has triggered an increased use of PMSC(Private Maritime Security Contractors). The use of PMSC to protect merchant ships against Somali-based piracy threat seems to have been most effective counter-piracy measures. However, there are various legal and practical questions around using PMSC and PCASP(Privately Contracted Armed Security Personnel) on board at sea. This paper aims to study the regulation and its problems of PMSC and PCASP on board to protect merchant ships against Somali-based piracy in the Indian Ocean and Gulf of Aden. In particular, this paper focuses on the legal issues including jurisdictional issues of PCASP on board merchant vessels, use of force by PCASP in self-defense, and authority for using PMSC. Currently, the legal framework relating to use of PMSC and PCASP on board protecting ships from Somali-based piracy is complex, sometimes ambiguous or inconsistent, and currently in a state of flux. Thus, this paper concludes that at this juncture an effort to coordinate this legal framework is necessary, as regards both the interpretation of existing rules related to PCASP on board merchant ships under UNCLOS(United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea) and the creation of new rules. Also, this paper suggested that there is an urgent need to establish the PMSC-specific laws in Korea.

Deuterium was injected into melt-spun ribbons of ${\alpha}-Fe_{90}Zr_{10}$ using the electrolytic hydrogenation method, and the magnetic properties of these ${\alpha}-D_{x}Fe_{90}Zr_{10}$ ribbons were studied. By comparing these results with those of ${\alpha}-H_{x}Fe_{91}Zr_{9}$, the effects of phonons to magnetic properties were investigated. The Curie temperature $T_{c}$, and the spontaneous magnetizations of the $D_{47}Fe_{90}Zr_{10}$ and the $Fe_{90}Zr_{10}$ were studied using the Mbssbauer spectroscopy. From these investigations, it was found that the Curie temperature of $D_{x}Fe_{90}Zr_{10}$ was 75K higher than that of $Fe_{90}Zr_{10}$. It was believed that this indicated the importance of local deformation to the amorphous magnetism. Also by comparing the spontaneous magnetizations of $D_{47}Fe_{90}Zr_{10}$ with those of $Fe_{90}Zr_{10}$ as a function of temperature, it was found that the deuterium injection reduced the fluctuation of exchange integral.
Decomposition rate of organic matiter in the mud flat of Sunchon Bay was estimated. Physicochemical parameters, cellulose degradation rate. distribution of heterotrophic bacteria, and extracellular enzymatic activities were measured from August 1997 to July 1998. Soil temperatures, water contents, concentration of $PO_4$-P and organic matter were -1-~$30^{\circ}C$, 42.1-53.1%, 0.0779-0.1961 mgig and 1.99-7.64%, respectively. Decomposition rate of cellulose film ranged from 7.7 to 100%imonth, high in summer and low in winter. The number of heterotrophic bacteria ranged from $0.87{\times}10^6 to 3.6{\times}10^7 $CUFsIg dq soil. Enzymatic activities of phosphatase, $\alpha$-D-gluEosidase, $\beta$-D-glucosidase and cellobiohydrolase, which were measured as decomposition rate of methylumbelliferyl(MLiF)-substrate, were 152.23-1779.80 nMIhr, 2.67-202.18 nM/hr, 5.03-258.26 M h r and 3.42-63.07 nM/hr, respectively Cellulose degradaaon rate and extracellular extracellular enzymatic activities were conelated with each other, and showed high correlation coefticiency with soil temperature.
