Physicochemical Properties of Olbyossal(Parboiled Rice) (올벼쌀의 이화학적 특성)

  • We sought to optimize parboiled rice preparations with respect to nutritional composition and to compare the physicochemical properties of polished, glutinous rices and Olbyossal (parboiled rice). Crude lipid contents (all w/w) were: brown glutinous rice (1.92%) > Olbyossal (1.13%) > glutinous rice (1.08%) > polished rice (0.32%). The crude ash content of Olbyossal was greater than that of polished rice. There was no significant difference in crude protein level between Olbyossal and polished rice. Total dietary fiber content (all figures are w/w) was higher in Olbyossal (3.79%) than in polished rice (1.67%). With respect to mineral content, P (249.16 mg%), K (144.67 mg%), Na (35.41 mg%), and Mg (30.24 mg%) levels were higher in Olbyossal than in polished rice. There was no significant difference in fatty acid or amino acid content between polished rice and Olbyossal. The L value (lightness) of Olbyossal was lower than that of polished rice but the hardness of Olbyossal was greater.

Estimating the Tax Revenue Function of the Personal Incomes (개인소득세수함수(個人所得稅收函數) 추정(推定))

  • The purpose of this paper is to estimate the revenue function of the personal income tax of Korea. Unlike the traditional approach employing the data adjustment, this paper explicitly includes the explanatory variables of the tax rate or schedule in the revenue function and further estimates the functions by income sources such as labor, interest, global, and dividend incomes. One of the main findings is the GNP elasticity of the combined personal income tax is around 1.2 when evaluated on the basis of the estimates of the GNP elasticities of tax revenue from respective income sources, which is somewhat smaller than those in the previous studies. Another interesting result is that the GNP and interest rate elasticities of the interest income, are found around one and .15 respectively, as expected. Also, the estimate of the tax-free income coefficient is significantly negative in the labor income tax revenue function.

  • The acculturation of ethnic minorities is an increasingly important issue. This paper explores the role of two factors which may be related to Asian Americans' development of preferences for ethnic or non-ethnic shopping: level of acculturation and susceptibility to interpersonal influence. Several prior studies have found that strength of ethnic identification (a measure of level of acculturation) accounts for differences in consumption patterns among immigrant groups. The results of this study suggest that ethnic identification is not a unidimensional construct. Instead, two construct, ethnic identification and consumer socialization are found to be relatedto the level of influence exerted by culturally consistent in-group than "American." A strong positive relationship is found between ethnic identifi.cation and ethnocentric purchasing preferences. In contrast, no significant direct relationship between level of.consumer socialization and ethnocentric preferences is found. Implications for marketers are discussed.

  • Advertising is regarded as one of media's most proficient instruments of reflecting changing society. It represents the channel through which globalization and consumption culture have spread into everyday life. This study explores the significance and representations of multi-culturalism in contemporary television commercials. For the purpose, the social and historical meanings of the term 'multi-culturalism', generated inside and outside Korea, are discussed. A series of text analysis are followed, focusing on the representation of non-Korean models in terms of ethnicity and race. The result shows that the advertising is the instrument utilized in creating the relationship between multi-culturalism and racialism, which is called 'strategic multi-culturalism'. This strategy commonly happens in today's commercial advertising such as information/telecommunication, real estate/branded apartment complex, and bank/finance market. Despite the increasing number of multi-cultural commercials in the past decade, multi-culturalism in Korean society has not yet fully articulated.

  • The purpose of this study is establishing how to build the area of local agents and regional offices in the oil company using GIS technique by reviewing on the spatial distribution pattern and characteristics of the sales area of oil products. Location-allocation and spatial interaction model are cooperated in order to establish sales area of petroleum products distribution system. Location-allocation model is used in the capital region where local agents are concentrated on like Kyoung-gi local agent. Spatial interaction model is used in the rest of the area in Korea to analyze the sales range of the regional offices in oil company. Each office made a big difference in registered cars and population because of the level of petroleum consumption in each sales area.

Effect of Engine Operating Conditions on Combustion and Exhaust Emission Characteristics of a Gasoline Direct Injection(GDI) Engine Fueled with Bio-ethanol (직접분사식 가솔린엔진에서 운전조건에 따른 바이오에탄올의 연소 및 배기배출물 특성)

  • In this study, the combustion and exhaust emission characteristics in a gasoline direct injection engine with variations of the bio-ethanol-gasoline blending ratio and the excess air factor were investigated. To investigate the effects of the excess air factor and the bio-ethanol blends with gasoline, combustion characteristics such as the in-cylinder combustion pressure, rate of heat release (ROHR), and the fuel consumption rate were analyzed. The reduction of exhaust emissions such as carbon monoxide (CO), unburned hydrocarbon (HC), and nitrogen oxides ($NO_x$) were compared with those of gasoline fuel with various excess air factors. The results showed that the peak combustion pressure and ROHR of bio-ethanol blends were slightly higher and were increased as bio-ethanol blending ratio is increased. Brake specific fuel consumption increased for a higher bio-ethanol blending ratio. The exhaust emissions decreased as the bio-ethanol blending ratio increased under all experimental conditions. The exhaust emissions of bio-ethanol fuels were lower than those of gasoline.

  • The Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) is used for cabin air heating of a battery electric vehicle, which is different from conventional vehicles. Since the PTC heater consumes a large quantity of power in a parasitic manner, many valuable studies have been reported in the field of alternative heat pumps. In this study, a model for an R134a heat pump taking into account the thermal environment of the cabin was developed for a MATLAB/SIMULINK(R) platform. Component and cabin models are validated with reference values. Results show that the heat pump is more competitive for parasitic power consumption over all ambient temperature conditions. Additionally, the method of waste heat recovery to overcome disadvantages when temperatures are below zero is applied to efficiently operate the heat pump.

  • 배추는 십자화과 채소로 한국, 일본, 중국에서 많이 재배되고 있다. 우리나라에서는 한국인이 소비하는 채소 중 가장 높은 가장 많은 비중을 차지하며 봄, 여름, 가을, 겨울 계절에 상관없이 이용되고 있으며 특히 김치, 쌈 채소로소 이용되고 있다. 배추의 주생산 시기는 봄, 여름, 가을로 기후환경에 적합한 다양한 품종이 재배되고 있으며 또한 다양한 방법으로 조리되고 있다. 대표적인 방법은 쌈채소로 생으로 이용하는 것과 김치를 담그기 위해 절임 채소로 이용하는 방법, 그리고 국이나, 무침 등을 위해 데침 채소로 이용하는 방법에 있는데 본 실험에서는 이러한 조리과정에 의해 영양성분에 어떠한 영향을 주는 지 각 계절별 대표 품종의 배추를 이용하여 조사하였다. 봄 배추는 노랑봄배추, 가을 배추는 불암3호로 농촌진흥청 원예특작과학원에서 재배한 배추를 사용하였으며 여름배추는 고랭지 배추를 사용하였다. 각 계절별 배추의 전처리는 생, 절임(10% 소금물), 데침(10분)의 세가지 방법을 이용하였으며 영양성분의 분석은 AOAC 법에 준하여 실시하였다. 노랑봄배추, 고랭지배추, 불암3호의 생채의 영양성분을 비교해 본 결과 여름배추에 수분이 가장 많이 함유되어 있었으며 단백질의 함량은 모두 비슷한 수준을 나타내었고 가을 배추에 탄수화물 5.7g, 섬유소 0.8g, 칼슘 60mg 가장 많이 함유되어 있었다. 삶은 배추의 경우 생배추와 비교하여 보았을때 탄수화물, 지질, 단백질 등 일반성분에서는 큰 차이를 보이지 않았으나 칼륨의 손실은 약 30%로 두드러지게 나타났다. 품종별 삶은 배추에서는 생배추와 마찬가지로 여름배추에서 가장 많은 수분 함유량을 보였으며 대부분의 영양소에서 가을배추가 높은 함량을 나타냈다. 절임 배추의 경우 생배추와 비교하였을때 소금의 영향으로 나트륨 함량이 크게 증가하였으며 기타 성분에 있어서는 큰 변화가 나타나지 않았다.

A Low Power Resource Allocation Algorithm based on Minimizing Switching Activity (스위칭 동작 최소화를 통한 저 전력 자원할당 알고리즘)

  • This paper proposed a low power resource allocation algorithm for the minimum switching activity of operators in high level synthesis. In this paper, the proposed method finds switching activity in circuit each functional unit exchange for binary sequence length and value bit are logic one value. To use the switching activity was found the allocation with minimal power consumption, the proposed method visits all control steps one by one and determines the allocation with minimal power consumption at each control step. As the existing method, the execution time can be fast according to use the number of operator and maximal control step. And it is the reduction effect from 8.5% to 9.3%.
