  • The purpose of this study was to test the structural model for the effect on abnormal eating behavior targeting 493 nurses. Results, The direct effects of variables affecting abnormal eating behavior were in the order of eating abstinence and socially imposed perfectionism, and these variables explained 85% of abnormal eating behavior. Explicit narcissism had a significant effect on abnormal eating behavior through socially imposed perfectionism and eating restraint, and sociocultural attitude toward appearance through eating restraint. In the multi-group moderating effect, the path coefficients between job stress and abnormal eating behavior, socially imposed perfectionism and abnormal eating behavior were different between groups. Therefore, it is necessary to find a way to lower the socially-imposed perfectionism and nursing intervention that can escape excessive eating abstinence.

  • This study examined the relationship between the emotional labor, job stress and eating attitudes among clinical nurses. The data was collected from 434 clinical nurses in G city, from February 21 to March 31, 2013 and analyzed using the SPSS 17.0 program. The mean levels of the clinical nurse's emotional labor, job stress and eating attitudes were 3.53, 3.81 and 2.27, respectively. The emotional labor showed a significant positive correlation between job stress (r= .570, p=<.001) and eating attitudes (r= .114, p<.05). In addition, the factors affecting the eating attitude were BMI (${\beta}$=262, p<.001), weight loss exercise (${\beta}$=.203, p<.001), internal medicine (${\beta}$=178, p<.001), surgery (${\beta}$ =.102, p=.043), and emotional labor (${\beta}$=106, p=0.49). These variables accounted for 16.8% of the variance in eating attitudes among clinical nurses. Therefore, working with differentiated departmental programs will be required to improve the eating attitudes and the BMI.

  • This study was conducted to identify the relationship between sleep quality, stress, depression, and eating attitudes of shift work nurses, and to determine the influencing factors of eating attitudes. Participants were 152 shift work nurses working at a university hospital and data collection was performed from July 1 to July 20, 2021. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. In this study, the prevalence of abnormal eating attitudes at clinical and sub-clinical levels was 7.9% and 19.1%, respectively. There was a positive correlation between eating attitudes and depression, and the influencing factors of eating attitudes were alcohol drinking(1 time/month) and depression. Therefore, it is necessary to find strategies to prevent depression in order to improve the eating attitude of nurses working in shifts, and repeated research on the relevance of alcohol drinking and eating attitudes is needed.

  • This study investigated the adverse effects of sound treatment on physiological processes of the American leafminer, Liriomyza trifolii, during several developmental stages. Larval feeding activity was analyzed by measuring feeding tunnel length. It was significantly suppressed by sound treatment (5,000 Hz, 95 dB). Sound treatment delayed the pupal period at 315 - 5,000 Hz and prevented adult emergence at 1,000 - 5,000 Hz. Female oviposition was also inhibited by the stress sound treatments. However, phototactic adult movement was not affected by sound treatment. Pupae treated with 5,000 Hz showed marked changes in protein patterns analyzed by two dimensional electrophoresis. MALDI-TOF analysis of specific protein spots indicated that trafficking protein particle complex I, triosephosphate isomerase, hypothetical protein TcasGA2_TC013388, polycystin-2, paraneoplastic neuronal antigen MA1, and tropomyosin I (isoform M) were predicted in the control insects and disappeared in the insects treated with sound. By contrast, DOCK9, cytoskeletal keratin II, and F0F1-ATP synthase beta subunit were predicted only in the sound-treated insects. Furthermore, stress sound significantly increased the susceptibility of L. trifolii to insecticides. These results suggest that physiological processes of L. trifolii are altered by sound stress, which may be exploited to develop a novel physical control tactic against L. trifolii.

  • Objective : Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) commonly suffer from feeding disorders. Major feeding problems include mealtime behavior problems, picky eating, and a lack of food variety can lead to nutritional problems, developmental and social limitations, and stress for the caregivers. A review of the latest literature was conducted to gain an in-depth understanding of assessment tools for feeding disorders in children with ASD. Method : This study analyzed assessments to identify feeding problems in ASD based on previous studies searched through keywords such as ASD, ASD feeding problem, and ASD feeding evaluation. Results : The ASD feeding disorder assessment was divided into direct and indirect assessments. Indirect assessment, in which caregivers measure a child's situation using questionnaires, is mainly used. The assessment of feeding disorders in children with ASD was divided into 1) mealtime behavior, 2) sensory processing, 3) food consumption, and 4) others. Conclusion : As the main feeding disorder characteristics of children with ASD are very diverse, a comprehensive evaluation is necessary but is still limited. Swallowing rehabilitation experts, such as occupational therapists, should apply comprehensive assessment tools based on a basic understanding of the feeding problems, behaviors, and sensations in ASD.

  • It is relatively common to have various feeding problem during infancy and childhood, even for typically developing children. Treatment outcome studies for pediatric feeding disorder consistently reported that applied behavior analaysis (ABA), a type of behavior intervention, is very effective and efficacious. Interdisciplinary team approach is necessary for severe feeding problems, but similar methods could be used through parent training for moderate and mild feeding problems. This article introduced assessment procedure to identify feeding problems as well as specific methods to deal with diver feeding issues. Each strategy can be used effectively only when it is combined with several other strategies including environmental rearrangement and should be developed individually upon each child's feeding issues. In addition, systematic and continuous parent trainings are mandatory. At the end, several treatments related issues were addressed.

  • High school and college students majoring in dance have different types of stress because of their different circumstances and goals. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation between multidimensional perfectionism and eating disorder in high school and college students who are majoring in dance. Questionnaires for eating disorder (Eating Disorder Inventory-2(EDI-2) made by Garner (1990) and adapted by Lee (1998)) and multidimensional perfectionism (Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale(F-MPS) made by Frost (1990) and translated by Hyun (1992) were utilized after the sentences in the questionnaires were partially revised and (rendered more appropriate for?) the purpose of this study. The questionnaires were completed by all of the subjects (n=250), but 32 of them were excluded due to insincere answers. Thus, a total of 218 questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS version 21.0. The results showed that the students with a higher education level and who were more career oriented were more likely to suffer from multidimensional perfectionism and eating disorder. In addition, multidimensional perfectionism (concern about mistakes, constant personal and parental expectation) resulted in the development and maintenance of eating disorder for the students majoring in dance. In conclusion, higher education level and greater career orientation induce greater stress in dance major students and cause them to have an incorrect physical image. Thus, these factors may cause higher psychological pressure leading to multidimensional perfectionism and eating disorder. Therefore, these students need to know how to correctly manage their body weight and how to prevent eating disorder.
