Improvement of Steering-Wheel Idle Vibration in a Passenger Car using Design Sensitivity Analysis (설계민감도 해석을 이용한 승용차의 스티어링 휠 아이들 진동 개선)

  • In the prototype stage of a car developing program, the efficiency of trouble shooting is an important factor to be considered. Structural modifications by the design sensitivity analysis are applied to a steering wheel system for improving the idle vibration of the prototype passenger car. For the design sensitivity analysis, the experimental modal analysis for the steering system attached to a body-in-white is fulfilled and the modal parameters extracted from the experimental data are used to predict the effect of structural modification, The design sensitivity results rank the locations to be reinforced in terms of frequency variation. The modification of steering system according to the sensitivity analysis results shifted the resonant frequency of the system effectively. In addition, the idle test of the car after the structural modifications f steering system shows that the proposed method can reduce vibration of the steering wheel efficiently.

  • 본 논문에서는 등기하 해석법을 이용하여 선형 탄성문제에 대한 형상 최적설계 기법을 개발하였다. 실용적인 공학문제에 대한 많은 최적설계 문제에서는 초기의 데이터가 CAD 모델로부터 주어지는 경우가 많다. 그러나 대부분의 설계 최적화 도구들은 유한요소법에 기초하고 있기 때문에 설계자는 이에 앞서 CAD 데이터를 유한요소 데이터로 변환해야 한다. 이 변환과정에서 기하 모델의 근사화에 따른 수치적 오류가 발생하게 되고, 이는 응답 해석뿐만 아니라 설계민감도 해석에 있어서도 정확도 문제를 발생시킨다. 이러한 점에서 등기하 해석법은 형상 최적설계에 있어서 유망한 방법론중 하나가 될 수 있다. 등기하 해석법의 핵심은 해석에 사용되는 기저 함수와 기하 모델을 구성하는 함수가 정확히 일치한다는 것이다. 이러한 기하학적으로 정확한 모델은 설계민감도 해석 및 형상 최적설계에 있어서도 사용된다. 이로 인해 높은 정확도의 설계민감도를 얻을 수 있으며, 이는 설계구배 기반의 최적화에 있어서 매우 중요하게 작용한다. 수치 예제를 통하여 본 논문에서 제시된 등기하 해석 기반의 형상 최적설계 방법론이 타당함을 확인하였다. 본 논문에는 등기하 해석법을 이용하여 선형 탄성문제에 대한 형상 최적설계 하였다.

  • This paper presents the findings of a comparative study on minimum weight design and sensitivity evaluation using different experimental design methods for the structural design of an active-type deck support frame (DSF) developed for the float-over installation of an of shore plant topside. The thickness sizing variables of the structural members of a passive-type DSF were considered the design factors, and the output responses were defined using the weight and strength performances. The design of the experimental methods applied in the comparative study of the minimum weight design and the sensitivity evaluation were the orthogonal array design, Box- Behnken design, and Latin hypercube design. A response surface method was generated for each design of the experiment to evaluate the approximation performance of the design space exploration according to the experimental design, and the accuracy characteristics of the approximation were reviewed. Regarding the minimum weight design, the design results, such as numerical costs and weight minimization, of the experimental design for the best design case, were evaluated. The Box- Behnken design method showed the optimum design results for the structural design of the passive-type DSF.

  • The optimal blank design method by sensitivity analysis has been applied to the formings of oil-pan, tailored blank and front panel have been chosen as the examples. Die shape is prepared by a commercial CAD system. Excellent results has been obtained between the numerical results and the target contour shapes. Through the investigation, the proposed systematic method of optimal blank design is found to be effective in the practical forming processes.

  • 본 문에서는 조화기진력(harmonic force) 하에서 보조변수법을 적용한 연속법이 사용되어 선형구조물의 변위, 응력에 대한 치수 설계 민감도가 계산되었다. 또한 최적설계가 조화 하중의 경우에 시도되어 주어진 제한조건들을 만족하며 최소 중량이 계산되었다.

  • In this research, design Sensitivity Analysis is presented for commercial vehicle such as large scale structural system. The proposed method is based on vibration analysis of the total structure and design sensitivity to identify the contribution factor of the component structure to the total system structure. In addition, approximated equations derived from response surface method are used for representative section properties of the thin walled beams.

  • Substructuring-based hierarchical approach for design analysis and optimization of structural frames is presented in this study. The conceptual framework of this method is in the hierarchical modeling for design processes as well as structural systems and the methodology combining substructuring analysis and multilevel optimization. Mathematical models for analysis and synthesis are established on the common basis of substructuring systems. Modularized behavioral analysis, design sensitivity analysis and optimization are linked and integrated on the mathematical and structural basis of substructuring. Substructures are coordinated with the active constraints for system level and the weight ratio criteria. Numerical examples for test frames show the validity and effectiveness of the present approach.

  • This study presents a technique to control quantitatively lateral drift of RC tall frameworks subject to lateral loads. To this end, lateral drift constraints are established by introducing approximation concept that preserves the generality of the mathematical programming and can efficiently solve large scale problems. Also the relationships of sectional properties are established to reduce the number of design variables and resizing technique of member is developed under the 'constant-shape' assumption. Specifically, the methodology of dynamic displacement sensitivity analysis is developed to formulate the approximated lateral displacement constraints. Three types of 10 and 50 story RC framework models are considered to illustrate the features of dynamic stiffness-based optimal design technique proposed in this study.

  • Recently, it seems increasing trends that the design floods on the middle and small scale of urban regions and natural basins are evaluated with introducing to the concept of the critical storm duration. However the study of the critical storm duration is not sufficient and especially on the natural basins, it rarely performed. therefore in this study, estimated the critical storm duration and peak discharge according to the rainfall distribution type, the position of peak rainfall intensity, and the frequency on the natural basins were evaluated using Clark model and the influence of each factors on the design floods was analyzed with sensitivity analysis on the parameters of the model.
