  • This paper deals with characteristic analysis method of the slotless type Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor(PMLSM) using the space harmonic method. Analysis models of the PM and the armature current are described by the magnetization configurations taking into account the 2D and 3D distribution. In 3D analysis, the thrust and normal force can be calculated more accurately, because it can consider the z component flux density which is impossible in 2D analysis. In order to verify the validity of the proposed method, the results of the analytic method are compared with not only the experimental ones but ones of Finite Element Method(FEM).

  • It must be able to calculate thrust to design and manufacture linear BLDC motor by required specification. If magnetic energy with respect to displacement of mover of linear BLDC electric motor be obtained, thrust can be calculated. It can decide optimal design factor of linear BLDC motor through change of thrust by design variable using magnetic energy method. It can predict variation of thrust by pitch of pole and design optimally using coenergy that is attained from FEM.

  • In this paper, electromagnetic fields of a linear induction motor with cage-type secondary are analyzed by the finite element method. Contact resistances between end-bars and secondary conductors are considered in the finite element analysis. The field quantify is a magnetic vector potential transformed into a phasor form. As a result, the sensitivities of a phase current thrust and normal force are presented according to the variation of the contact resistance.

  • This paper presents the implementation of a positon sensorless vector control system of a PM linear synchronous motor by sliding mode observer based on TMS320F240 DSP controller. Sliding mode observer estimates the secondary velocity and position based on the measurement of current, and it shows very robust characteristic to parameter variation. Therefore, it improves the system performance deterioration caused by system parameter variations. Simulation and experimental considerations are presented to confirm the applicability of sliding mode observer to the sensorless position control of PMLSM.

  • Precision control technologies are required for photolithography. The linear BLDC motor is used for the stage operations. The stage that is installed in a photolithography device is basically controlled in three directions(x, y, z axes). This paper presents precision control technologies of the linear BLDC motor in one direction by computer simulations. A position control system with linear BLDC motor is now being tested.

  • In the case of analyzing electric machinery by finite element method, so far, magnetic current was selected as a driving source. But terminal voltage is a driving source in real systems, and magnetic current is varied according to variation of load conditions. Therfore, in this paper magnetic flux distribution of linear induction motor was analized by using kirchhoff's second law with voltage as a driving source, and magnetic current was calculated.

  • In this paper, a short primary-short secondary single-sided LIM which is used as a driving source for automatic conveyor system, is selected as a analysis model. And with a method for analyzing eddy current distribution and thrust force which are produced according to the relative position of primary and secondary, FEM in which current vector potential is introduced is adopted. Also, analysis results are compared with experimental results, so propriety of this at study is proved.

  • In this paper, the thrust force characteristic of SLIM according to the variation of several parameters was calculated from the fundamental equation based on Maxwell' s electromagnetic equation to design the transportation system which is drived by short primary single sided linear induction motor. The transportation system of moving secondary was constructed by the design values calculated on the base of simulated data and this values were compared to experimental values, and also the control method of transportation system was proposed.

  • This paper deals with dynamic analysis method of a slotless type permanent magnet linear synchronous motor(PMLSM) using 3-dimensional space harmonic method. The results are good agreement with FEA results because that slotless type PMLSM has simple structure and no saturation of core. And then, Under open-loop control, starting characteristic is analyzed by voltage equation combining with dynamic equation. In order to obtain more accuracy results, this paper use instantaneous back-EMF and thrust instead of back-EMF constant and thrust constant.
