Structural Safety Assessment of a Sunken Ship Considering Hull Corrosion and Damaged Members - Focus on the Sunken Ship 'No. 7 HaeSung' - (선체 부식 및 손상 부재를 고려한 침몰선박의 구조 안전성 평가에 관한 연구 - 제7 해성호를 중심으로 -)

  • Sunken ships cause damage to the environment due to the dispersal of fuel oil and harmful cargo goods in the hull. Since the sunken ship is mostly flooded by the seabed, it tends to be in a relatively stable condition. However, the heavy body, together with the load of remaining goods in the cargo hold, the constant contact with the seabed, and ocean currents and tidal waves, can affect dispersal of residual fuel oils out of the sunken ship. Corrosion of the sunken ship starts upon sinking, decreasing the thickness of the hull structure and sub-materials. Therefore, it is necessary to assess the structural stability against the potential breakdown of the sunken ship. Whilst evaluating the danger of the sunken ship, this result should be reflected in 'the possible discharge'. This study was undertaken to suggest a procedure for a step by step evaluation to assess the structural stability a sunken ship. The structural stability assessment to estimate the collapsibility of the hull was structure targeted at the sunken ship 'No. 7 HaeSung', which was classified as the prime example for the intensive management of sunken ships. The collapsibility of the hull structure was estimated Based on the damage size of the hull structure, and the corrosion rate of the hull structure and sub-materials due to the seawater after sinking. It was confirmed that there was a low possibility of the total destruction of the hull structure at the current time. However, there is a high possibility in the potential failure of the hull structure due to increased rate of corrosion thereafter. Therefore, we believe continuous study on influence of corrosion and marine environment change to sunken ship's structural safety is necessary.

Characteristics of loci on Line-to-Earth Voltage according to Earth Fault in Earthing System for Ships (선박의 접지 시스템에서 지락 고장에 따른 대지 전압 변동 특성)

  • The voltages mainly used in ships are 450 [V], 6.6 [kV], and 11 [kV], and an earthed system is applied to ensure the stability of the power distribution system. In general, low-voltage ships using 450 [V] apply an unearthed system, while high-voltage ships using 6.6 [kV] or 11 [kV] use a high-resistance earthed system. When an earth fault occurs in a ship's power distribution system, the voltage of the healthy phase increases to the line-to-line voltage or higher, which causes an excessive impact on the insulation of the cable. Thus, analyzing this behavior is very important. In this paper, we investigate the characteristics of the line-to-earth voltage variation according to earth faults and a recognition procedure of a faulty phase using the symmetrical coordinate method for a high-resistance earthed system and unearthed system. A mathematical model of the line-to-earth voltage was derived through the symmetric coordinate method, and the ship voltage for simulations was selected as 6.6 [kV] and 450 [V]. A MATLAB simulation proved that this method can determine the highest increase of the line-to-earth voltage, which leads by 120° on the faulty phase, and it accurately judges the faulty phase in both earthed systems.

  • A driving system of a dynamic FOG compass with a stabilized platform is described. A stepping motor adopted as a driving motor is required to maintain a stable operation with constant speed and low oscillation for the proper operation of the FOG compass itself. The previous stabilization scheme operated on frequency-modulated supply is modified to include fuzzy control algorithm. The proposed scheme has advantages, particularly in the size, weight and flexibility of the driving system.

  • 유가의 상승에 따른 에너지확보는 매년 국가의 중요한 정책의 하나로 되었으며, 전세계적으로 다양한 탱카선이 건조되어왔고 이들 선박의 운항에 따라 국내에서도 탱가선을 서비스 하기위한 계류, 저장, 이송 시설 등 항만인프라의 구축이 원활하게 이루어지고 있다. 그러나, 이들 시설 중 돌핀부두에의 접이안을 위한 시설의 국내 설계기준은 오래전에 설정된 것으로 보완이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 현재 건조되어 운항되고 있는 전세계의 탱카선의 자료를 수집하고 톤수에 따른 선형을 분석하여 돌핀부두내 작업돌핀, 접안돌핀, 계류돌핀의 적정간격과 계류안정성의 평가에 반영하고, 설계기준의 보완에 대한 의견을 제시하고자 하였다. 분석에는 전세계 250여척의 탱카선의 선형을 조사하였고, 미국, 영국, 캐나다 등 외국의 설계기준과 국내기준의 비교가 이루어졌다.

  • Lab scale experiment study was carried out for biological process development on cruise. SBR(Sequence Bath Reactor), MBR(Membrane Bioreactor), and MSBR(Membrane Sequence Bath Reactor) system were investigated for practical application on shipboard sewage treatment. From the results it was suggested that MSBR system might be suitable process for cruise in terms of pollutant removal efficiency, maintenance and special environmental conditions of cruise. Based on Res. MEPC.159(55) the MSBR system was qualified for the required regulations.

  • In this article. the specifications of a future container crane for a 18,000 TEU megaship are investigated After studying the transitions of containerships through the past half century, the characteristics of the past and current container cranes are outlined. together with various research trends throughout the world Upon these results, the size and performance of the container crane that will be used beyond the year 2014 are forecast. Specifically, the structure, trolley and hoist mechanism, control method, outreach. backreach, rail gage, loading capacity, stability, durability, and others are summarized.

  • 최근 해저지진의 활동에 따른 극한 쯔나미 파랑이 해안도시와 항만에 어마어마한 손상을 가져오고 있다. 전세계에 걸쳐 특정해역에서는 강한 정진형태의 부진동과 처오름이 관측되고 있다. 한반도에서는 그렇게 빈번한 발생을 나타내고 있지는 않으나, 과거기록을 보면 동해에서 몇 개의 중요한 발생사례도 존재한다. 본 연구에서는 특히 만이나 내수해역에서 최근 해저지진의 발생 추이를 분석하고 이에 따른 쯔나미 발생 메카니즘을 해석하여 새롭게 내수역에서의 수치모델에의 적용을 통해 공진을 통한 쯔나미 파랑의 변환을 다루어 통항선박에 대한 안정성 확보에 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 내수역에서의 쯔나미 파랑에 대한 반응을 정합성 및 웨이블릿 해석으로 탁월 주기와 지속시간에 대한 분석으로 파악하였으며, 쯔나미파의 입사와 독립적인 공진모드의 도출은 쯔나미 재해의 경감을 위한 시설물 및 재난지역을 식별하는데 도움을 주고, 나아가서는 장래 재난에 대한 적절한 대비에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 본다.

  • Floating LiDAR is a system that provides a new paradigm for wind condition observation, which is essential when creating an offshore wind farm. As it can save time and money, minimize environmental impact, and even reduce backlash from local communities, it is emerging as the industry standard. However, the design and verification of a stable platform is very important, as disturbance factors caused by fluctuations of the buoy affect the reliability of observation data. In Korea, due to the nation's late entry into the technology, a number of foreign equipment manufacturers are dominating the domestic market. The west coast of Korea is a shallow sea environment with a very large tidal difference, so strong currents repeatedly appear depending on the region, and waves of strong energy that differ by season are formed. This paper conducted a study examining buoys suitable for LiDAR operation in the waters of Korea, which have such complex environmental characteristics. In this paper, we will introduce examples of optimized design and verification of ship-type buoys, which were applied first, and derive important concepts that will serve as the basis for the development of various platforms in the future.

  • This paper deals with controlling surge oscillations of a mooring vessel system under large external disturbances such as wind, waves and currents. A control synthesis based on Sliding Mode Control (SMC) with a Super-Twisting Algorithm (STA) has been applied to suppress nonlinear surge oscillations of a two-point mooring system. Despite the advantages of robustness against parameter uncertainties and disturbances for SMC, chattering is the main drawback for implementing sliding mode controllers. First-order SMC shows convergence within the desired level of accuracy, in which chattering is the main obstacle related to the destructive phenomenon. Alternatively, STA completely eliminates chattering phenomenon with high accuracy even for large disturbances. SMC based on STA is an effective tool for the motion control of a nonlinear mooring system because it avoids the chattering problems of a first-order sliding mode controller. In addition, the error trajectories of controlled mooring systems implemented by means of STA form in the bounded region. Finally, the control gain effect of STA can be observed in sliding surface and position trajectory errors.

  • In this paper, Position Controller for balance of Seesaw System design using PID Algorithm. Seesaw System is that it's system use widely to analyze of ship or flight dynamics, Inverted Pendulumand, Robot System, manage system for theory of modern control system and all sorts of analysis. In case of Seesaw System, it's necessity that understand and analysis of system and correct selection of parameter because the system is strong nonlinear control system. It guarantees efficiency and stability to adapt quickly for disturbance or change of controller from PID Algorithm of guarantee safe from simple and long history and PSO(Particle Swarm Optimization) that sort of metaheuristic optimization that need to accuracy and fast PID parameter tuning.
