A Study on the Resistance Performance of 39feet-class Leisure Boat with Propulsion Type of In-Board and In.Out-Board Engine (39feet급 선내기.선내외기 추진방식 레저보트의 저항특성 연구)

  • The propulsion type of a small boats mainly were divided that the In-board and In out-board position located engine. The boats of the In-board and In out-board engine individually were propelled by propeller and stern drive. In this paper, 39feet-class leisure boats with propulsion type of In-board and In.out-board engine were performed to compare the effect of resistance performance using model test. As a result, leisure boat with In out-board engine is ascertained the optimum boat affects the speed and fuel efficiency.

Performance Analysis of WiMedia D-MAC Communications for a Shipboard Wireless Bridge (선내 무선 브릿지용 와이미디어 D-MAC 통신의 성능분석)

  • An integrated ship area network has functionality of remote control and autonomous management of various sensors and instruments embedded or boarded in a ship. For such environment, a wireless bridge is essential to transmit control and/or managing information to sensors or instruments from a central integrated ship area network station. In this paper, one of reliable schemes of wireless bridge using WiMedia distributed MAC (D-MAC) protocol is proposed to increase a communication reliability. Simulation results show that the proposed wireless bridge using WiMedia D-MAC protocol guarantees reliable communications between 2-hop devices.

  • This study is an empirical result for building an onboard communication network using metal surface wave communication and is a consideration of its application within the ship. Over the past three years, the applicability and the performance of metal surface wave communication has been confirmed by testing on five small and medium ships. In the tests, IEEE 802.11 protocol of Wi-Fi was used, and the signals were generated in the form of surface waves. Data was sent from AP to AP in the point-to-point form, and the transmission speed was measured at the same time. If necessary, additional repeaters were used to extend the transmission distance. As derived a transmission speed of 5 to 100 Mbps in wireless communication restricted areas of the 5 ships, it is believed that it is possible to reduce the weight of ships and costs by eliminating the communication cables by using surface wave communication as the back-bone network on ships.

  • Recently, the new issues for the safety and the information delivery system in the ship are raised. The deployment and the efficient algorithms of deploying the wireless sensor networks instead of using the built-in wired networks or the setup of the new wired networks is more desirable than the deployment of the wired networks in a ship after its final production since it can reduce the cost and the time of the brand new wired networks by reshaping some of the internal structure of the ship. In this paper, the shipboard signal propagation measurement system based on the signature sequence-three way slave mode are designed and its measureed data are analysed after measuring the signal propagation characteristics. Consequently, it is expected that the reliable and cost-effective signal measurement system with the three way algorithm for the deployment of the shipboard wireless networks can be achieved.

Experimental Study of the Wireless Communication System by Surface Wave Communication through Confined Spaces on Vessels (선박 밀폐 공간 무선통신 구현을 위한 표면파 통신의 선박 활용연구)

  • This study suggests surface wave communication, which uses a metal surface as a medium, to provide wireless communication in the extreme environment due to surrounding metal materials on vessels. The test was conducted on a G/T 265 tons tug boat to confirm the possibility of surface wave communication between a bridge and each designated space in the ship. As a result, the transmission speed was 13Mbps on average. In a test case of the bridge via the engine room, the transmission speed was 4.3Mbps on engine running and 1.2Mbps on sailing. It overcame this by partially changing the equipment installation location. Surface wave communication in bow storage, a fully enclosed space, had 8Mbps better transmission speed than wireless communication; this confirmed the superiority of surface wave communication in confined spaces on a vessel. Additional surface wave generators were designed and applied to resolve the paint issue. It is expected to use surface wave communication to implement the new wireless solution for Maritime-IoT system on vessels.

Energy Efficient Grid-Based WPAN Protocol for Ship Area Networks (에너지 효율성을 갖는 그리드 기반 선박 내 WPAN 프로토콜)

For such environment, a wireless bridge is essential to transmit control and/or managing information to sensors or instruments from a central integrated ship area network station. In this paper, one of reliable schemes of In-ship sensor networks using a Grid-based WPAN is proposed. The proposed scheme is based on a novel grid network which allows a multi-path communication, and is robust, energy efficient. The results demonstrate that the proposed Grid-based WPAN outperforms the IEEE 802.15.4 based network in terms of success ratio and power efficiency.

The development of small water-jet propulsion for 150HP grade inboard type (150마력급 선내형 소형 워터제트 추진시스템 개발)

  • This study is on the development of 150PS inboard type of compact water jet propulsion system. The water jet is composed of intake, impeller, diffuser, reverse bucket and main shaft. Components of water jet have been manufactured through precision processing after sand casting. Development of water jet propelled engine has been finally completed by processes which are design, production and inspection on each component. The water jet performance characteristics show that 0.29 m3/s of maximum flow rate and 37 m/s of flow velocity have been secured in the ground test pool. Field test was performed by 21ft test ship that water jet propulsion equipment developed in this study was installed. As a result, the weight of hull, engine and other parts of the ship has been almost 1.2 ton and 45 km/h of maximum sailing speed has been recorded with 3700 rpm of engine in the domestic coast test.

  • 국제해사기구(IMO)의 선박재활용협약 세계적인 해운이슈로 부각되고 있다. 이는 동 협약이 발효될 경우 세계해운시장에 상당한 영향을 끼칠 수 있는 파괴력을 지녔기 때문이다. 동협약의 적용대상 선박은 총톤수 500톤이상 선박으로 현재 협약적용 대상선박은 약 5만여척에 달하고 있다. 이 협약이 발효되면 선주들은 협약 발효후 5년내 선내의 유해물질 조사, 목록을 작성하여 기국정부 인증후 증서를 유지하고, 선박재활용전 유해물질을 사전에 제거해야 하는 등 선주들의 비용부담이 가중될 것으로 예상되고 있다. 더구나, 문제의 핵심은 선박보유 자체가 부담이 되는 협약이라는 것이다. 다음은 선박재활용협약의 논의배경과 전망을 정리한 것이다.

  • 현대의 선박운항에 있어서 선내 노동의 경감과 운항의 안정성 및 경제성 확보를 위하여 선박 자동차 및 원격 조종화가 이루어지고 있다. 또한, 선박조종 및 작업제어를 위하여 컴퓨터를 이용한 통합제어 시스템에 관한 연구도 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 그러나 소형선박 및 어선과 같은 환경에서의 지능형 시스템에 관한 연구는 많이 부족한 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 지능형 선박을 구현하기 위한 기반 연구로서 선박 운항자의 원격지시로 선박의 조타기를 제어하는 지능형 조타제어시스템을 구축하여 실용화를 위한 방안을 모색하였다. 구체적인 연구결과로는 지능형 학습 기법을 바탕으로 하는 퍼지 조타수 조작 모델을 구축하여 조타제어 시스템을 구현하였고. 모형선박(Miniature Ship)의 조타 시스템을 PC 상에서 원격으로 제어하기 위한 시뮬레이션 시스템을 구축하여 그 유효성을 확인하였다.
