Analysis of the Industrial Linkage between Manufacturing and Service Industries and Its Implications: Comparison of Seoul and Busan (지역별 제조업과 서비스업의 상호 연관성 분석과 시사점: 서울과 부산의 비교)

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the industrial linkage between manufacturing and service industries in Seoul and Busan. In this paper, the industrial linkage between the manufacturing and the service industry is analyzed through input-output coefficient and production inducement coefficient. The results are as follows. First, the linkage of the service industry to the manufacturing in Seoul was higher than that of Busan. Second, Busan had a low input proportion of the service industry supplied by its own area to the manufacturing, so that the effect of the growth of Busan manufacturing on the regional economy is limited. Third, the linkage of manufacturing to service industry in Busan was found to be higher than that of Seoul. Finally, policy directions for improving the industrial linkage between manufacturing and service industries were suggested based on the results.

  • Considering the intensified ties between Korean service industry and the other industries in China and Japan, this study empirically analyzes the inter-industry network between the service industry in the Korean capital region and 10 industrial sectors in 20 city-regions of China, Japan, and Korea(CJK). Firstly, unit structures are constructed based on the estimated CJK interregional input-output tables to understand the production connection. Moreover, the reorganized unit structures are visualized as networks and examined from various angles. As the results of the analysis, the inter-industry network of the service industry in the Seoul Metropolitan Area is still mostly dependent on domestic industries, especially on manufacturing industry, while it shows the tendency to be weakly connected to the industries in Chinese and Japanese city-regions.

Effects of Positive Psychological Capital of Service Industry Workers on the Service Performances through Perfectionism and Role Conflict (서비스업 근로자들의 긍정심리자본이 완벽주의와 역할갈등을 통해 서비스 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • In this article, it was studied how positive psychological capital in the service industry workers affected the service performances by perfectionism and role conflict in the service industry employees. This was to suggest the practical solutions on the emotional labor or job stress that the existing workers in the service industry were experiencing. Upon the study results, self-efficacy, hope, and resilience among the factors of positive psychological capital showed to affect perfectionism and role conflict while optimism did not. Based on this study, the practices and problems of the workers in the service industry could be understood and it seems to improve and support their working environment to provide better services. In other words, these results mean to enhance the self-efficacy and resilience of the workers in the service industry so as to provide the stakeholders of service industry or related institutions with the basic data.

Study on Interrelation between the Service Industrial Production Index and the Service Industrial Wholesale and Retail Index (서비스업생산지수와 서비스업도소매지수와의 상호연관성에 관한 연구)

  • We examine the information transmission between the Service Industrial Production Index and the Service Industrial Wholesale and Retail Index, based on the returns data offered by the Korea Bank. The data includes daily return data from January 2000 to September 2015. Utilizing a dynamic analytical tool-the VAR model, Granger Causality test, Impulse Response Function and Variance Decomposition have been implemented. The results of the analysis are as follows. Firstly, results of Granger Causality test suggests the existence of mutual causality the Service Industrial Production Index precede and have explanatory power the Service Industrial Wholesale and Retail Index However the results also identified a greater causality and explanatory power of the Service Industrial Wholesale and Retail Index over the Service Industrial Production Index. Secondly, the results of impulse response function suggest that the Service Industrial Production Index show immediate response to the Service Industrial Wholesale and Retail Index and are influenced by till time 5 From time 2, the impact gradually disappears. Also the Service Industrial Wholesale and Retail Index show immediate response to the Service Industrial Production Index and are influenced by till time 2.5, the impact gradually disappears. Lastly, the variance decomposition analysis shows that the changes of return of Service Industrial Production Index are dependent on those of the Service Industrial Wholesale and Retail Index. This implies that returns on the Service Industrial Production Index have a significant influence over returns on the Service Industrial Wholesale and Retail Index. It contributes to the understanding of market price formation function through analysis of detached the Service Industrial Production Index and Service Industrial Wholesale and Retail Index. Finally, our results can be used as a guide by the Korea Bank and Republic of Korea and as well as Statistics Korea.

Analysis on the Technological Innovation and Cooperative Networks of Service Industries by Region (서비스업 기술혁신과 협력네트워크의 특성 : 수도권과 비수도권 비교 분석을 중심으로)

  • Innovation, esp. technological innovation, in service sectors has drawn much attention as innovation-driven economy and service-led growth has been emphasized in the 21st century. This paper attempts to analyze the technological innovation from the perspective of geography and to understand the role of cooperative networks in the technological innovation. In sum, this study reveals that more firms in the Seoul Metropolitan Area (SMA) tended to succeed in the technological innovation in service sectors than those in the provinces. However, the difference originated from the difference in firms' internal capabilities, not from the difference in the external innovative capabilities represented by cooperative networks relevant to innovative milieu. In terms of cooperative partners, the fm in the provinces placed special importance on universities as cooperative partners, while the firms in the SMA put much emphasis on various types of cooperative partners. The cooperation with private partners was a statistically meaningful variable for the occurrence of technological innovation, regardless of firms' location. The cooperation with public partners proved to influence firms' application for the intellectual property right such as patents in both the SMA and the provinces.

제주도 내 관광객 증가에 따른 서비스업 종사자의 근골격계 질환 발생현황

  • 제주도 내 관광객수는 최근 5년간 꾸준히 증가했으며 2012년 12월을 기준으로 960만명을 돌파하였다. 서비스업의 전체 사업장 및 근로자 역시 최근 5년간 증가하였으며 서비스업 종사자의 경우 전체 근로자 173,996명의 47%를 차지하고 있다. 업무상질병자 중 근골격계질환자 수는 전체의 90%를 차지하고 있으며(2012년 12월 기준) 근로자의 신규유입이 적고 노령근로자가 많은 점을 감안하였을 때 업무상 질병 발생율은 향후 증가할 것으로 예상된다. 본 연구는 제주도 내 관광객 수 증가에 따른 서비스업 종사자의 근골격계질환 발생현황 분석으로 향후 제주도 내 발생되는 근골격계질환의 예방에 기여하고자 한다.

ICT서비스의 사회경제적 파급효과

  • 본고에서는 ICT서비스가 사회경제적으로 미치는 파급효과를 분석하기 위하여 ICT서비스를 IT제조업, 통신 및 방송 서비스업, 컴퓨터관련 서비스업으로 재분류하고 2005년의 산업연관표를 이용하여 파급효과를 분석하였다. 그 결과 생산유발계수에서는 민간소비와 정부소비지출에 있어서 기간통신서비스가 가장 높은 효과를 보였으며, IT산업이 제조업분야 보다 서비스 분야에서 높은 부가가치를 창출하고 있는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 부가가치 유발효과는 민간 및 정부 소비지출 측면에서 통신 및 방송서비스, S/W 및 컴퓨터관련 서비스 부문이 높게 나타났다. 수입유발효과는 정보통신기기 부품 등의 수입유발이 컸으며, 서비스관련 사업은 수입유발이 낮게 나타났다. 취업유발과 관련되는 노동유발효과는 제조업이 가장 높게 나타났으며, 서비스업 측면에서는 S/W 및 컴퓨터 관련 서비스업에서 소비나 투자수요와 관련하여 높은 취업유발효과들 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 생산유발과 고용유발 측면에서 IT제조업 분야의 투자가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

  • This study was carried into execution to analyze Spatial Characteristics of Seoul Business Services Cluster in circumstance of local economic development led by knowledge-intensive business services. The analysis was performed for industrial agglomeration and companies' linkage and network. As the result, there are three business services cluster, including the largest one in Gang-Nam Gu, Seoul, and for last 10 years, there has been increasing development of business services cluster. In the meanwhile, their linkage and network have not been performed briskly. Therefore, from now on, a plan that can help companies' linkage and network performed inside of cluster to have active and international structure has to be considered in cluster policy.

A Competitive Study on the Linkage Effects between ICT and Automobile Industry (ICT 산업과 자동차 산업의 생산유발효과 비교 연구)

  • This study compares the linkage effects and competitive advantage between ICT and automobile industry in Korea from 1996 to 2011 using input-output tables. The ICT industry is classified according to the International Standard Industry Classification. Results show that (1) the ICT industry exhibits linkage effects similar to those of automobile industry. (2) Both ICT and automobile manufacturing sectors exert significant effects on the demand and supply. Additionally, (3) ICT service and automobile sectors show linkage effects on demand and supply, respectively. The present results present the classification criteria of the ICT industry discussed to date and suggest economic effects and policy implications.

The Level of Customer Participation in Retailing Service (소매서비스업에서의 고객참여행동 수준에 관한 연구)

  • Retailing service companies need to manage customer's behavior participating in service production and delivery process, while trying to differentiate from competitors with customer services. They also need to know the level of customer participation to make good use of customer participation in retailing service delivery process. Therefore, this paper expects to show the level of customer participation in domestic primary retailing service types. In details, this paper empirically identifies how different the level of customer participation is in four retailing service types-family restaurant, hair service, hospital service, educational service. As results, activity effort, communication effort, and compliance effort variables of customer participation were significantly in different level. But, sympathy effort variable of customer participation was not identified on the level of difference in four retailing service types. Additionally, hospital service showed the highest level of customer participation in four retailing service types, then family restaurant, education service, and hair service were in order. Judging these results, this paper suggests that the level of customer participation according to retailing service types would be different empirically. Also, this paper provides the opportunities to make properly good use of customer participation suitable to individual retailing type.
