Currently, the nature and ecosystem's destruction by human beings and science is appearing as a serious problem. The possibility of ecological aesthetics is being sought as one of operations for new society in the contemporary society that the nature and ecosystem are getting attention, The present research aims to examine the characteristics and its expression method by setting the ecological aesthetics as an alternative of the future design. The history, meaning, mental image and image of Korean traditional Space forming the balance and harmony with the Nature, etc., which are important design concepts, were deduced as the beauty of emptiness, the beauty of a gap, the beauty of harmony and the beauty of changing and the beauty of simplicity as characteristics of experiencing space. If the deduced expression is examined through a case analysis of traditional housing, the characteristics trying to unite with the Nature while seeing ecology and aesthetics as one root, which the ecological aesthetics regarding as a root. The ecological arts based on the ecological aesthetics enters inside the universal life of human beings by examining the ecological and aesthetic characteristics appearing in Korean traditional Space, and the arts will move forward in a direction that its function and role link with maintenance of total ecosystem. The space application possibility and expression characteristics of ecological aesthetics should be continuously researched.
Ecosystem and environment have been a serious challenge facing the modern society. It's been the new paradigm from ecological view of the world and the alternative based on Orientalism. From the Oriental standpoint, ecological aesthetics and sustainable architecture are no longer new, which then servers the background of this study. The nature and the space, the life where the human is harmonized and integrated and the wish to make the balance through that life are the basic philosophy which the Orientalism has pursued. Based on such a basic concept, the study is intended to review the connectivity, expression approach and the features in Korean traditional residential space based on previous studies on ecological aesthetics and sustainable architecture. Such attempt is meaningful in seeking the possibility of presenting the new frame as well as forming the various views to the traditional space and spatial recognition. The nature was categorized into tangible element and intangible element and also direct approach and indirect approach before evaluating the characteristics. Sustainable architecture is not the concept to simply maintain or sustain the environment, but plays more important role in economical aspect. Traditional space accommodates the nature and circulation principle and the circulation in the nature controls the energy and enhances the efficiency, playing significant role. The nature itself serves the alternative energy and has the aesthetic element in such a way of concealing itself. This study is intended to analyze the Byulseo Jeongwon which formed many relations with the nature and the residential space, thereby identifying the expression characteristics of eco-aesthetic sustainable architect. This study offers the answers with regard to the coexistence of the expression characteristics of sustainable architecture with the nature, space and the human from eco aesthetic viewpoint as well as the solution in dealing with the ecological and environmental challenges. Furthermore, it suggested the possibility that the traditional space would possibly be succeedable in new and creative way and sought the way for coexistence among the nature, space and human and eco aesthetics, and finally paved the pivotal foundation as the sustainable design alternative in future.

One basic function of glazing system has always been the maintenance of visual contact with the natural environment-a fundamentally ecological function. In addition, penetration light through glazing system have an effect on variable atmosphere of interior. In this study, a typical office space was selected as a evaluation model and a 1/10 scale model was made. The conventional window, differentiated window and interior lightshelf were designed to enhance daylighting performance. The chromaticity and color temperature of interior space was measured using Prometric 1421. The result showed that transmittance by wavelength range of the glazing had an effect on chromaticity and color temperature. Also, color temperature of indoor environment were increased by $5{\sim}20[%]$ using differentiated window and interior lightshelf. Accordingly, it is thought that the use of a daylighting system will create activate indoor atmosphere.
Environmental quality(EQ) is one of the most important components of the assessment of "Quality of Life(QOL)". Most EQ related research dealt with overall built environmental quality issues as represented by several clusters of factors related to occupants' satisfaction. This paper aims to identify and understand the theoretical background and the occupants' comparative standards of response to conditions of the built environment related to environmental quality(EQ). Therefore, this paper have reviewed the theoretical framework and empirical research for environmental quality in built environment. the concept of environmental quality if elaborated from diverse perspectives. Different ways of interpreting environmental quality have led to a variety of ways to conduct evaluations. A review of the theories and methods used for the analysis of perceived environmental quality provides a strong foundation for new research frameworks and environmental quality in built environment.

This study analyzed the perceptions of teachers to establish the direction for managing the space outside an elementary school. Satisfaction with outdoor school spaces is influenced by the satisfaction with tree and flower plantation and outdoor rest spaces. This study found that the longer the working years of a teacher, the higher their awareness of the importance and necessity of outdoor spaces in the school. Respondents emphasized the lack of manpower and budget, as well as the indifference of the administration as hindrances to the management of outdoor spaces in the school. The outdoor space in the school should include a secure play area, plant education space, class practice spaces, and a rest area. Furthermore, the space outside the elementary school should support learning, playing, and resting. To this end, facilities such as benches, pergolas, outdoor classrooms, ecological ponds, farms, and flower beds should be provided. In an outdoor space, plants featured in textbooks, seasonal plants, and those that provide shade can be planted along with labels to provide information and thereby promote learning. The teachers expected that the management of the external space will have an educational and emotional effect on students. In response to the innovation of the school spaces, it is necessary to continuously manage the external spaces to achieve educational and emotional effects by organically connecting the outdoor spaces with the indoor space. For this purpose, it is required to provide support for securing budgets and manpower, and to introduce relevant policies.

The winter cherry bug, Acanthocoris sordidus (Thunberg), is an insect pest hat damages plants from Solanaceae and Convolvulaceae. The developmental period from egg to adult averages 76 days at $25^{\circ}C$. Adult egg-laying occurred irregularly via spawning, averaging 195 (up to 468) eggs per individual on the abaxial leaf surface of the host plant. Results of linear regression indicated that the lower developmental threshold temperature was $13.9^{\circ}C$ and the effective accumulated temperature was 526.3 DD. Data from a pepper field in 2015 indicated that overwintering adults first appeared during late June (daily average temperature = $25.7^{\circ}C$), reaching maximum density by early September. A choice test examining colonization preferences using a net cage and a Y-tube olfactometer revealed that females gravitated toward conspecifics (other females, males, or both), whereas males moved toward empty areas. Finally, we found that communal breeding results in a longer developmental period and higher eclosion rates than solitary breeding. Developmental periods and eclosion rates were also for colonies in a large space than for those in a small space. This outcome suggests that colonization effects on insect development are stronger in a smaller area.
Although evolution of construction materials brought about development of modern architecture, they caused destruction of the environment and pollution. This problem is not a new one in terms of ecological esthetics and materials of sustainable architecture in light of the Eastern view of nature and this idea became a background of this study. The basic concept is to try to find out their characteristics from a perspective of ecological esthetics in relation to traditional building materials that nature, architecture, and humans coexist and live with each other to balance. Based on ecological esthetics and precedent studies on materials of traditional architecture, we investigated connections, expressive methods and characteristics in traditional residential construction space. This attempt has meanings in that it can propose a new framework of forming various viewpoints and spatial perceptions in relation to esthetics and traditional construction materials. The current study examined the characteristics by dividing them into tangible and intangible elements based on expressive features of elements of nature. The characteristics found by this process are not simply notion of physical materials, but plays a key role aesthetically and ecologically. Nature and materials take circulation of the law of nature, regulate energy, increase efficiency and play a major role in an economic way. Nature in itself becomes natural alternative energy, and plays its role in an invisible fashion. It examined how expressive characteristics of construction materials are reflected through analyzing residential space and Korean traditional garden having relationships with Eastern viewpoint of nature in relation to Korean traditional construction materials from a perspective of ecological esthetics. Findings of the above study indicate that expressive characteristics of Korean traditional construction materials from a perspective of ecological esthetics are that nature, space, humans coexist and live together and they will provide a clue to an alternative to solve ecological and environmental problems modern society will have in the future. Through this process, it provided a possibility that traditional space and materials can be succeeded in creative and new ways, and it found out the way for nature, space, and humans to coexist and a possibility of ecological esthetics. It addition, it will provide a key base as an alternative of sustainable design of the future.

Daylight is a critical factor in architecture, as it enhances the working efficiency and visual comfort of the people working inside. Even though, low transmittance glazing has been used in the most office buildings in Korea. And it is reduced visual comfort in a indoor environment. So, we need to evaluation of quality for various daylighting systems to improve visual comfort This study aims to evaluate the visual comfort in a indoor environment by different daylighting system. For the purpose, four different daylighting systems-conventional window, conventional window with interior lightshelf, differentiated window, differentiated window with interior lightshelf-were selected and a questionnaire survey with 50 subjects were conducted. The results are as follows. Regardless daylighting systems, a view has an effect on visual comfort. A conventional system and conventional system with lightshelf were highly correlated between comfort and warmth. In case of differentiated window system were correlated between comfort and openness. Also, differentiated window with interior lightshelf were highly correlated between comfort and stability.

BACKGROUND: In the month of January 2018, fine dust alerts and warnings were issued 36 times for $PM_{10}$ and 81 times for PM2.5. Air quality is becoming a serious issue nation-wide. Although interest in air-purifying plants is growing due to the controversy over the risk of chemical substances of regular air-purifying solutions, industrial spread of the plants has been limited due to their efficiency in air-conditioning perspective. METHODS AND RESULTS: This study aims to propose a vegetation-based bio-filter system that can assure total indoor air volume for the efficient application of air-purifying plants. In order to evaluate the quantitative performance of the system, time-series analysis was conducted on air-conditioning performance, indoor air quality, and comfort index improvement effects in a lecture room-style laboratory with 16 persons present in the room. The system provided 4.24 ACH ventilation rate and reduced indoor temperature by $1.6^{\circ}C$ and black bulb temperature by $1.0^{\circ}C$. Relative humidity increased by 24.4% and deteriorated comfort index. However, this seemed to be offset by turbulent flow created from the operation of air blowers. While $PM_{10}$ was reduced by 39.5% to $22.11{\mu}g/m^3$, $CO_2$ increased up to 1,329ppm. It is interpreted that released $CO_2$ could not be processed because light compensation point was not reached. As for the indoor comfort index, PMV was reduced by 83.6 % and PPD was reduced by 47.0% on average, indicating that indoor space in a comfort range could be created by operating vegetation-based bio-filters. CONCLUSION: The study confirmed that the vegetation-based bio-filter system is effective in lowering indoor temperature and $PM_{10}$ and has positive effects on creating comfortable indoor space in terms of PMV and PPD.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the indirect effects of forest using the forest healing factors such as landscape and hearing factors on mood improvement. The experiment was conducted for about 2 months from October 5, 2016 to November 30, 2016 targeting 30 healthy college students ($23.6{\pm}1.7$ years old). After making 3 factors(image factor, sound factor and image+sound factor) using scenery and sound of both forest and urban space, participants undergone the test in a room. And the effects of these 3 factors on the mood improvement were compared and analyzed using SPSS 18.0 program. Profile of Mood State test (POMS) and Semantic Differential method (SD) were used to measure mood improvement as a psychological test. As a result, indirect forest stimulation showed effects of suppressing tension, fatigue, anger, confusion, depression, and enhancement of vitality. No significant difference was observed in the comparison between forest stimuli. However, Compared with the urban stimuli, the stimulation of the forests has the effect of enhancing pleasant, natural feeling and calmness.
