  • As the substantial increase in battlefield density, multiple and complex weapon systems, Ensuring the Survivability of the platform has been emphasized. Most of platforms have equipped with ASE (Aircraft Survivability Equipment) system in order to protect the platform and operator against at modernized hostile weapon. ASE system enhance the survivability of the platform through providing accurate situation awareness information by detecting and countermeasuring hostile threats. One of Key factor of the AE system performance is handling multiple and complex threats. In this study, it describes the fact that the performance of ASE system with proposed threat integration algorithm is verified in the developed threat emulation system and also, suggests system verification method before deployment by dealing with complex threat situation.

  • In electronic warfare settings, battlefield helicopters identify various threats based upon threat data, which are acquired using their multi-sensors of aircraft survivability equipment (ASE). To continually function despite of potential threats and successfully execute their missions, the battlefield helicopters have to repeatedly report threats in simulated battlefield situations. Toward this ends, the paper presents threat unification using multi-sensor simulator and its implementation. The simulator consists of (1) threat attributes generator, which models threats against battlefield helicopters and defines their specific attributes, (2) threat data generator, which generates threats, being similar to real ones, using normal, uniform, and exponential distributions, and (3) graphic display for threat analysis and unification, which shows unified threat information, for example, threat angle and its level. We implement a multi-sensor threat simulator that can be repeatedly operable in various simulated battlefield settings. Further, we report experimental results that, in addition to tangibly modeling the threats to battlefield helicopters, test the capabilities of threat unification using our simulator.

• Survivability is avoidance and tolerance ability of combat systems for accomplishing mission in battle field. Therefore, the combat system has to protect or minimize any damage from threats. For this reason, many modeling and simulation based studies which analyze vulnerability of the combat system by threats, are in progress to improve survivability of the combat system. In this paper, we developed a 3D penetration analysis program for survivability analysis of combat system. To do this, we applied the penetration analysis equation to threat and protection performance of tank. Also we implemented simple tank models based on 3D CAD, and tested the developed program using the implemented tank models. As a result, we verified the developed program that is possible to analyze penetration by threat and protection performance of tank and to visualize its result, based on scenarios.

  • The ability of Combat Management System(CMS) to respond quickly and accurately to threat to a naval vessel is directly related to the survivability and combat power of the vessel. However, current method for detecting enemy submarine periscope in CMS rely on manual and subjective method that require operators to manually verify and analyze information received from sensor. This delays the response time to the threat, making the vessel less viable. This paper introduces a periscope detection algorithm that classifies the plot information generated by High Resolution Range Profile(HRRP) into probability-based suspicion classes and dramatically reduces threat response time through classified notifications. Algorithm validation showed 133.3791 × 106 times faster and 12.78%p higher detection rate than operator, confirming the potential for reduces threat response time to increase vessel survivability.
