The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of self-esteem in the relationship between bicultural acceptance attitude and peer relationship of multicultural adolescents, and to examine the moderated mediating effect of multicultural acceptability. To this end, the data of 1,197 adolescents who participated in the 8th year survey(2018) of the 'Multicultural Adolescent Panel Study' surveyed by the National Youth Policy Institute were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, first, it was found that the bicultural acceptance attitude of multicultural adolescents had a significant positive effect on self-esteem. Second, it was found that while bicultural acceptance attitude of multicultural adolescents had a significant effect on peer relationship, self-esteem partially mediated these relationships. Third, it was found that multicultural acceptability moderating the indirect effect that affects peer relationship through self-esteem as a mediating bicultural acceptance attitude of multicultural adolescents. Based on the results of this study, a support plan was sought to positively form and maintain the peer relationship of multicultural adolescents, and the implications, limitations, and suggestions for subsequent studies of this study were presented.

This paper deals with suicide that has become a serious problem in our society as well as in the world today from a Christian perspective. Historical position regarding suicide is divided into two; some see it as a brave and honorable act and give approval to it, the others view it as act of giving up the life that is given by God and are opposed to it. Though suicides in the Bible are mostly committed to maintain honor, because of Augustin's position it became negative in Christianity, leading to a thought that one who committed suicide goes to hell. Why then people commit suicide? The views of scholars on the cause of suicide are divided into three; biological, psychological, sociological. My position is that though each or all of them contribute to suicide, yet the decisive factor is on how a person reacts to them. Major factor of suicide is how humans as interpretive beings accept the present despair. On the basis of this understanding of suicide and humans, I conclude this paper with three new recognitions as an essential answer to suicide. First, humans are made in God's image and belong to Him, thus their life is precious. Second, Christianity views humans as ones look for the hope in the future as the eternal life. Third, suicide is a violation of the commandment 'do not kill' yet it is not an act of sin but a disease that needs to be cured. To achieve this Christianity must not only spread the idea of respect for life and also run suicide prevention center every city.

The purpose of this paper is to explore the meaning of theoretical ethics regarding bioethics. First, I explore the meanings and limitations of the bioethics domain for 'the principle of equal consideration of interests' and the 'preference utilitarianism' concepts Singer presents. Secondly, I emphasize the significance of Kant's ethics in the domain of bioethics. Lastly, I suggest that Aristotle's virtue ethics should be realized in the domain of bioethics. Furthermore, I would like to suggest the meaning of human life through this. Singer's argument brings up a new topic about the meaning of evolved life not considered in the history of traditional ethics. He presented undeniable opinions about human dignity that he took for granted. In addition, it is assessed that the scope extension for the life respect target has been reasonably achieved. Contrary to this, Kant's ethics explains the meaning of human dignity based on its metaphysical meaning. Furthermore, it provides an appropriate orientation for human life. Embracing their claims is not sufficient to explain the meaning of Good Life. The meaning of Good Life is likely to be resolved through the application of Aristotle's virtue ethics. The meaning of a being of substance is living and furthermore, it is inherent to being itself.

The purpose of this study is to build a bioethical foundation for Paramedic students by identifying and explaining the subjective types and structures of the students' perception on abortion using Q-methodology. Forty statements as a Q sample are selected from the literature and in-depth interview, and P-sample consists of twenty nine junior Paramedic students. The collected data is analyzed by using a QUANL program. The analysis identified three types of the paramedic students' perception on abortion: The fetus-oriented decision type, The mother-oriented active decision type(n=15), The Type(n=9),and mother-oriented passive decision type(n=5). The three factors all had eigenvalues greater than 1.0 and explained 61.3% of the variance in responses. Based on the result of this research, type 1 focuses on the importance of life, whereas other types seem to demonstrate a self-centered mindse that puts more importance on self than the fetus. Therefore, bioethics courses, especially ones that deal with abortion, are crucial to those paramedic students who handle the lives of others.

The purpose of this study was to investigate nurses' ethical dilemma and professionalism in long-term care hospitals. Participants in this study were 210 nurses working in 14 long-term care hospitals. Data analysis was done using SPSS / WIN 24.0 program. As a result of this study, the ethical dilemma of the nurse was moderate. The highest sub-area was 'nurse-patient relationship' and 'respect of life and human rights' was the lowest sub-area. The professionalism of the subjects was moderate, and the score of 'sense of mission' area was the lowest. Nursing ethics guidelines should be developed that reflect the ethical dilemma of nurses in long-term care hospitals, and will provide the right values for the ethical dilemma that nurses face in their workplace. When planning the nurses' professionalism education, it is necessary to have a strategy to enhance the sense of mission by emphasizing beliefs and values about nursing care.

This study was a descriptive study to investigate the effects of healthcare workers' consciousness of biomedical ethics, recognition of good death, and self-esteem on attitude toward advance directive. Participants in this study were 292 healthcare workers in the three general hospitals located Y city. The data were collected from April 2 to April 23, 2019 and analyzed descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using the SPSS Win. 22.0 program. The result of the multiple regression indicates the intention to awareness regarding advance directives, intention to execute advance directives, time to complete advance directives and recognition of good death predict 23.5% (F=12.39, P=.000) of attitudes toward advance directives. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a program to establish attitudes toward advance directives by providing education on recognition of good death of healthcare workers.

The purpose of this study was to examine the ethical dilemma of dental hygienists and the level of empowerment among them in an attempt to provide some information on how to alleviate the ethical dilemma of dental hygienists to boost their empowerment. The findings of the study were as follows: The dental hygienists got a mean of 1.58 out of possible four points in ethical dilemma. Among the subfactors of ethical dilemma, they scored highest in ethical dilemma about dental hygienists and profession (1.79), followed by dental hygienists and patients (1.53), life reverence and respect for human rights (1.51) and dental hygienists and cooperators (1.49). As for the general characteristics of the dental hygienists, those who were better educated and who intended to temporarily work just until marriage fell into a more ethical dilemma. The dental hygienists got a mean of 3.05 out of possible five points in empowerment. Among the subfactors of it, they scored highest in support structure (3.52), opportunity structure (3.18), information structure (3.08) and resources structure (3.04). There were significant gaps among the dental hygienists in empowerment according to their attitude toward the dental hygienist job as a profession. There was a significant negative correlation between ethical dilemma and empowerment. Regarding influential factors for the ethical dilemma of the dental hygienists, marital status and empowerment were identified as significantly influential factors, and empowerment had a significant relationship to age, academic credential and ethical dilemma. Given the findings of the study, the development of various intervention programs and empowerment-boosting strategies is required to relieve dental hygienists of ethical dilemma.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test the validity and reliability of a life respect instrument for elementary school students. Method: The study was conducted as follows: identification of the tentative content domains, items generation, test of content validity, and data collecting with a preliminary questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha, Guttman split-half, and Pearson correlation coefficients were used to analyze the data. Results: Two factors were extracted through factor analysis: 'Value about life respect', and 'Attitude about life respect.' These factors explained 58.82% of all factors. A total of 16 items belonging to 2 domains were generated. Cronbach's alpha and Guttman split-half coefficient were .82, and .84 respectively. Conclusion: The life respect instrument modified in this study will be useful for evaluating the effect of life respect education for elementary school students.

This study examines garden activity and garden plant preferences for development of the garden activity program using community garden aimed for communication and integration for multicultural age. As a result, for members of multicultural society had high portion of floral arrangement and crafts, growing plants in both indoors and outdoors garden for their garden activities, and using plants for cooking, growing plants in both indoors and outdoors garden was of higher portion for native korean. In the garden plant preferences, members of multicultural society liked ornamental plants the best, due to the environmental correspondence between the plant's place of origin and their home country, while native koreans tend to prefer vegetables, reflecting the recent interest in pro-environment crops and rise in demand of urban farming, veranda gardening and weekend farming. In this study, the garden activity program for communication and integration categorized the value of garden activity into three categories; the value of respect for life, the value of consideration through caring, the value of plant ethics, based on the above preference results. The value of respect for life can be achieved by understanding the meaning of life, experiencing the will to live, and understanding the characteristics of plants and me. The value of consideration of caring comes from waiting and nurturing for living things that are different from me and adapting to the environment as a living The value of plant ethics can give us the insights for human relationships, by understanding and experiencing the natural ecosystem and plant co-existing in it. The eight-session garden activity program also went through validity verification process by experts on gardening and multiculture, and the effectiveness of the program was proved.
