Keywords included 'nursing students', and 'biomedical ethics', and a total of 26 studies were collected via databases such as KISS, NDSL, RISS. The biomedical ethics awareness was the main concept of biomedical ethics, consisted of right to life of fetus, artificial insemination, organ transplantation, and so on. There were differences in biomedical ethics awareness by ethical education experience, grade, clinical practice experience, and ethical education willingness to attend. Also, major keywords analysed with biomedical ethics were withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment, critical thinking, sexual attitude, nursing professionalism, and death perception. Study results can be used to provide basic data for preparing nursing ethics education in the future.

  • The purpose of this study is to study of correlation of characteristcs of bio-medical ethics and self-esteem for undergraduate students and to compare bio-medical ethics perception between health science and non-health science undergraduate students. We investigated bio-medical ethics and self-esteem of 651 undergraduate students including health science students and non-health science students for two weeks in May, 2015. The results of this study showed significant correlation between self-esteem and bio-medical ethics. The higher self-esteem, the more important bio-medical ethics. But it showed no significant difference between two groups in bio-medical ethics about brain death, euthanasia except biotechnology.

  • The purpose of this study was to find the effect of systemic biomedical ethics education program on moral sensitivity, critical thinking disposition and consciousness of biomedical ethics nursing student. This study is a quasi-experimental research design and repeated measured ANOVA was used to analyzed the collected data statistically on this study. Data was collected from 1st September to 31 of December 2014. Nursing students and nurses in A and S cities participated in this study as subjects. 32 nursing students were assigned to an experimental group, and 33 nursing students were assigned to control group A, 26 nurses were assigned control group B, total subjects were 91. There are significant different in consciousness of biomedical ethics(F=3.432, p=.037). In the category of consciousness of biomedical ethics, there are significant different in 'right to life of fetus'(F=4.476, p=.014) and 'prenatal diagnosis of fetus'(F=6.207, p=.003), and 'right to life of newborn(F=6.207, p=.003) between experimental group and two control groups. The biomedical ethics education influenced the positive effect on moral sensitivity, critical thinking disposition and consciousness of biomedical ethics of nursing students, and shown the significant effect to enhance the consciousness of biomedical ethics for nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify consciousness of bio-medical ethics of nursing and non-nursing students. The total mean scores of consciousness of bio-medical ethics between nursing(3.04/4) and non-nursing(2.88/4) were significantly different(t=6.79, p<.001). There were statistically significant differences between two groups in sub-categories of consciousness of bio-medical ethics: right to life of fetus, prenatal diagnosis of fetus, right to life of newborn, euthanasia, organ transplantation, brain death. The major predicting factors for consciousness of bio-medical ethics were experience of studying for biomedical ethics over 1 semester, experience of conflict for biomedical ethic problem, and ethical attitude in nursing department. Study results indicate that appropriate and various teaching-learning method for education of each department is deeded according to move up into a higher class with consciousness of bio-medical ethics, ability of decision making, critical thinking.

  • This study was done to compare consciousness of biomedical ethics in nursing and general students. Participants were 382 nursing and general students at a college in S city. Mean score of consciousness of biomedical ethics(range:1~4) in nursing students was 3.04 and general students, 3.12. Thus, mean score of consciousness of biomedical ethics of two group were above the average and general students significantly higher than nursing students. Life-respect consciousness, perceived ethical values in nursing students were shown as significant predictors on consciousness of biomedical ethics and life-respect consciousness, sexual attitude, value regarding child rearing in general students. The most influential predictor of two groups was life-respect consciousness. To establish desirable biomedical ethics of nursing students, it is necessary that subjects related to biomedical ethics should be mandatory, and it is necessary to raise the proportion of credit for the curriculum.
