This study was conducted to identify the influences of bioethics awareness and patient-centered care on attitude of terminal care of hospice nurses. The participants were 145 nurses working in hospice care center of hospitals in Korea. Data were collected during May and June in 2018 and were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, one way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple hierarchecal regression analysis using SPSS 24.0 program. Attitude of terminal care was influenced by hospice specialist certification (β=.15, p=.031), bioethics awareness (β=-.24, p=.003), and patient-centered care (β=.36, p<.001) in the regression model. These variables explained 36.9% of attitude of terminal care. In order to improve the attitude of terminal care of hospice nurses, programs for improving patient-centered care competence including bioethics awareness should be provided.

This study aims to examine primary school teachers' interest and understanding of bioethical issues, and to analyze their perception of bioethics teaching in the primary school education. For this purpose, the questionnaires were constructed. The data were collected from 553 primary teachers in the whole country. Major findings of the studys are as follows. First, most primary school teachers showed high level of interest about bioethical issues, but they had the limited understanding about bioethical issues. Primary teachers showed the highest interest about' respect for human life' and the lowest understanding of 'awareness of current biotechnology' Second, the prior reasons why primary teachers wanted to teach specific bioethical issues in the classes were that 'they were closely related to social phenomena' and 'they were appropriate for enhancing students' awareness of the value of life'. Third, the lack of the teachers' knowledge about bioethics and limited supply of teaching materials were found to be barriers, which prevent them from teaching bioethical issues. The implications of these results are discussed for the improvement of bioethics teaching in primary school education.

Purpose: This study examines the effectiveness of an educational program of nursing biomedical ethics for nursing students to increase awareness of the Code of Ethics for Nurses, moral sensitivity, and application of the Code of Ethics for Nurses. Methods: A quasi-experimental research design and t-test were used. The experimental group (n=31) and control group (n=32) were second-year university nursing students in two major cities. The experimental group received 15 hours of nursing ethics education during the 15-week semester. The training was not provided to the control group. Results: The application of the Code of Ethics for Nurses increased significantly in the experimental group (t=-1.06, p=.017), nurses and patient (t=-2.23, p=.029), obligation of nurse as an expert (t=-2.08, p=.042), nurse and cooperator (t=-2.54, p=.014). The consciousness of biomedical ethics increased significantly in the experimental group (t=4.28, p=.021), newborn's right to live (t=-2.61, p=.011), euthanasia (t=-2.36, p=.021). Conclusion: The results of the study show that providing a nursing biomedical ethics program to nursing students is an effective method to enhance the application of the Code of Ethics for Nurses and Consciousness of Biomedical Ethics. Implementing an intervention program of the Code of Ethics for Nurses in the regular nursing curriculum may reduce conflicts involving ethical decision making by nurses.
The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for developing hospice intervention strategies that can enhance hospice care perception plus attitude toward death of nursing students by grasping the factors affecting the perception of first grade students. Data were collected from 185 nursing students at J university in G-do. Analysis was done using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Multiple regression with IBM SPSS WIN/25.0. Hospice care perception was correlated to moral behavior (r=.22, p=.002) and biomedical ethics consciousness (r=.29, p<.001). The most influential factor on the subjects' hospice care perception was biomedical ethics consciousness (β=.224, p=.012), followed by high financial competence of parents (β=.187, p=.027). The explanatory power was 11.5%. Therefore, systematic programs that can enhance moral behavior and biomedical ethics consciousness are necessary to promote awareness of hospice care. Also, the following data can be utilized as basic data to help develop hospice education programs.

The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data for improving the coping ability of clinical nurses by deeply analyzing and understanding the bioethics dilemma the clinical nurses experience in the COVID-19 pandemic. To understand the essence of bioethics dilemma the clinical nurses would experience in the COVID-19 pandemic, this study interviewed with a clinical nurse and then analyzed it by using Colaizzi (1978)'s phenomenological method. In the results of this study, total three theme clusters were drawn such as 'Agony to face a situation that violates the principle of respect for man's life and dignity', 'Frustration and confusion caused by the situation in which the principle of good deed and prohibition of evil deed cannot be kept', and 'Doubt about fulfilling and not fulfilling the principle of justice'. This study is a descriptive survey study that attempted to confirm clinical nurses' consciousness of biomedical ethics, moral sensitivity, critical thinking deposition, and nursing ethics code of clinical nurses, as well as to identify the factors influencing the recognition of the nursing code of ethics. The general and ethical characteristics of the subject were calculated by frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, and the difference for each variable according to the general and ethical characteristics was analyzed using SAS 9.4, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA, and Scheffé test. The average, standard deviation, and the minimum and maximum values were used for the scores of each variable, and the correlation was determined using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Multiple regression was used to identify the factors that influence the recognition of the nurse's code of ethics. All variables showed significant correlations. Critical thinking deposition (p<.05) was the most influential variable in recognizing the code of ethics for nurses. Critical thinking deposition (p<.001), consciousness in biomedical ethics (p<.001), and moral sensitivity (p<.001) were shown to be affected in order, with 27.4% explaining power. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and apply educational programs to clinical nurses that can improve critical thinking, life and bioethics, and moral sensitivity.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the research ethics elementary and secondary gifted students enrolled in science-gifted education center of university and to get the implications of research ethics education. 180 elementary and secondary gifted students and 180 general students were participated. On the contrary, the item 'I think that it is right to exclude the person who didn't participate in research' both the gifted students and the general students showed the lowest perception. And gifted students' perception on research ethics was higher than the general students' on the whole. There was a statistically significant difference between two groups(p<.05). Second, the scientifically gifted students' research ethics in 'basic attitude of the researchers' was significantly higher than mathematically gifted students' and IT gifted students' (p<.05). This study examined the correlations between investigating human rights sensitivity, interpersonal caring behavior, and biomedical ethics in nursing students who have clinical practice experience. The data were collected using structured questionnaires for 3rd and 4th grade nursing students who were attending three universities in Gyeonggi-do and Chungcheong-do. As a result of this study, nursing college students' human rights sensitivity, interpersonal caring behavior, and biomedical ethics were scored as 112.23, 3.95, and 2.03 points, respectively. There were significant differences in human rights sensitivity according to major satisfaction (t=3.320. p=.001), clinical practice satisfaction (t=2.557, p=.012), and clinical peer relationship (t=4.234, p<.001), interpersonal care behavior according to major satisfaction (t=3.423. p=.001), clinical practice satisfaction (t=4.364, p<.001), and clinical peer relationship (t=3.708, p=.001), and biomedical ethics according to major satisfaction (t=-2.404, p=.018). Human rights sensitivity showed positive correlations with biomedical ethics (r=.27, p<.01), and interpersonal caring behavior showed a positive correlation with biomedical ethics (r=.17, p<.05). Based on these findings, it is necessary to develop systematic nursing education programs to strengthen interpersonal caring behavior, biomedical ethics, and human rights sensitivity.
