The purpose of this study was to investigate nurses' consciousness of biomedical ethics and professionalism in general hospitals. Participants in this study were 163 nurses working in 3 general hospitals. Data analysis was done using SPSS / WIN 24.0 program. As a result of this study, the consciousness of biomedical ethics of the nurse was moderate. The highest sub-area was 'right to life of fetus' and 'artificial abortion' was the lowest sub-area. The professionalism of the subjects was moderate. The highest sub-area was 'reference professional group' and 'sense of mission' was the lowest sub-area. The nurses' consciousness of biomedical ethics was related to professionalism. Therefore, nurses should be educated to help ethical decision making so that they can have bioethical value and bioethical decision making ability according to the changes and demands of the times. In addition, institutional arrangements to improve professionalism should be provided.

This study is a descriptive evaluation of the differences in biomedical ethics consciousness, related knowledge, awareness, and attitude of nursing college students according to the completion of biomedical ethics education. The data were collected from 112 nursing students using self-report questionnaires and analyzed by t-test, Chi-Square test, Fisher's exact probability test and Pearson's correlation coefficient using SPSS 21.0. There were significant differences between the two groups in the sub-domains of biomedical ethics consciousness, artificial insemination, euthanasia and organ transplantation. The biomedical ethics consciousness was positively correlated with attitudes toward human tissue donation and transplantation, awareness of death, and awareness of hospice palliative care. The results of this study showed that after participating in the biomedical ethics education, nursing college students had statistically significant differences in the consciousness of artificial insemination, euthanasia, and organ transplantation. Moreover, the consciousness of biomedical ethics was related to attitude toward human tissue donation and transplantation and awareness of hospice palliative care. Based on the results of this study, we would like to suggest the need for development of various curricula related to death, hospice palliative care, human tissue donation and transplantation in the biomedical ethics curriculum. In addition, as the study was conducted in a single college, it is difficult to generalize the results; therefore, additional studies at different facilities are recommended.
This study is a quasi-experimental research using non-equivalent control group pre-post design in order to understand the effectiveness of biomedical ethics education using movies. This study selected the first-year 45 students and 63 students who were attending at two 4-year-course nursing colleges as an experimental group and control group, respectively. Then, this study provided the experimental group with the lecture on biomedical ethics for 16 weeks using the movie related to the ethical issues covering 10 areas. Data collection was done for 5 days from August 26, 2013 until December 5, 2013, and conducted pre-post questionnaire survey on the 1st week session and 16th session after explaining there search purpose and getting a written agreement from the subjects. As a result of analysis of the collected data using SPSS Statistics 18, it was found that students' average point of biomedical ethics awareness improved to 3.31 from 3.07; additionally, in the analysis of the data by sub-area, the point in artificial abortion improved to 3.69 from 3.08; artificial insemination from 2.99 to 3.57; fetal diagnosis from 3.10 to 3.45; a newborn's right to life from 3.39 to 3.55 and organ transplant from 3.26 to 3.53, respectively(P<.001). On the contrary, the research results showed that there was no change in the point of the mercy-killing, brain death, and human biotechnology areas, respectively(p>.05). Conclusively, movie-aided education could be diversely used for nursing education provided movie contents should be in accord with a lecture subject in a way that can arouse students' interest and concern, and improve educational satisfaction.
The purpose of this study was to examine writing characteristics of scientifically gifted students about biological sciences. To do this study, we analysed their scientific writings related to biological sciences, which were written by scientifically gifted students of 16 groups (20 males and 20 females). They were being taught in the Science Education Institute for the Gifted adjacent for University. Scientific writings related to biological sciences were analysed through categories such as biotechnology, bioethics, sciences in a life, and human health and disease. Scientifically gifted students were lacking in the ability to construct writings and to logically express own contentions according to writings of them. Writings related to biotechnology and bioehics of biological sciences were not better than ones related to sciences in a life, and human health and disease. The results of this study suggested that it should be necessary to develop gifted educational programs to strengthen the scientific writing ability. Especially, scientifically gifted students need to be provided with educational contents about biological issues related to bioethics and biotechnology.
This study was conducted to explore the effects of Moral Sensitivity(MS), Biomedical Ethics Awareness(BEA) on Attitudes toward Withdrawal of Life-Sustaining Treatment(AWLST) of nursing students. The data were collected from May 1, 2018 to May 20, 2018 for 302 nursing students. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0. The average degree of MS was 3.45, BEA was 3.69, and AWLST was 3.36. MS was positively correlated with BEA(r=.149, p=.010) and AWLST(r=.223, p<.001). BEA was negatively correlated with AWLST(r=-.129 p=.025). Models including MS(${\beta}=.2.47$, p<.001) and BEA(${\beta}=-.166$, p=.003) explained 7% of variance in the AWLST. It is necessary to provide education that consider the MS, BEA and AWLST level of nursing students to help them establish an acceptable view of AWLST.
