Detection of Text Candidate Regions using Region Information-based Genetic Algorithm (영역정보기반의 유전자알고리즘을 이용한 텍스트 후보영역 검출)

  • This paper proposes a new text candidate region detection method that uses genetic algorithm based on information of the segmented regions. In image segmentation, a classification of the pixels at each color channel and a reclassification of the region-unit for reducing inhomogeneous clusters are performed. EWFCM(Entropy-based Weighted C-Means) algorithm to classify the pixels at each color channel is an improved FCM algorithm added with spatial information, and therefore it removes the meaningless regions like noise. A region-based reclassification based on a similarity between each segmented region of the most inhomogeneous cluster and the other clusters reduces the inhomogeneous clusters more efficiently than pixel- and cluster-based reclassifications. And detecting text candidate regions is performed by genetic algorithm based on energy and variance of the directional edge components, the number, and a size of the segmented regions. The region information-based detection method can singles out semantic text candidate regions more accurately than pixel-based detection method and the detection results will be more useful in recognizing the text regions hereafter. Experiments showed the results of the segmentation and the detection. And it confirmed that the proposed method was superior to the existing methods.

  • 일반적으로 안경집은 일회적으로 사용하고 버리는 것이라 생각하는 사람이 많다. 안경집을 주로 생산하고 있는 대동사출금형과의 공동 노력으로 다기능성 안경집을 개발한 것을 소개한다. 일상적인 고정관념을 버리면 편리하고 기능성이 높은 제품을 만들 수 있다는 신념으로 개발한 결과 어린이나 젊은이들이 졸아할 문방구 겸용 안경집을 개발할 수 있었다. 완구는 소비자가 일상적으로 많이 접촉하기 때문에 곰팡이나 세균이 서식하지 않도록 항균 세라믹을 이용하여 항균처리하였다. 또한 상온에서 인체에 이로운 원적외선이 방출될 수 있도록 고안하였다. 단순한 색상의 무료함을 줄이기 위하여 어린이나 젊은이들이 좋아하는 상용화된 캐릭터를 사용하여 제품의 다양화를 꾀하였고, 4개의 조각으로 만들어 어린이들이나 젊은이들이 조립할 수 있도록 하여 흥미를 더할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 소비자들이 선호하는 색을 알아보기 위하여 기존의 안경집을 활용하여 색상성호도 조사를 실시하였다. 젊은층은 자극적이고 화려한 색깔을 선호하는 한편 기성세대는 무난한 색깔을 선호하였다. 또한 콘택트 렌즈를 착용하는 경우에도 안경을 사용하는 경우가 많다. 이 경우 콘택트 렌즈와 안경을 따로 가지고 다녀야 하는 불편이 있다. 이에 착안하여 안경과 콘택트 렌즈를 겸용으로 사용하는 소비자를 위하여 안경과 콘택트 렌즈를 동시에 담을 수 있는 안경집을 개발(실용신안 출원번호:8928)하였다. 이 고안은 콘택트 렌즈를 안경집에 보관하기 위한 것으로 콘택트렌즈가 식염수에 잠겨 보관된 렌즈캡을 안경집내에 별도로 삽입되는 케이스에 수납하도록 구성하여 안경과 함께 콘택트 렌즈를 보관해 휴대하는 안경집 보관용 콘택트 렌즈 케이스에 관한 것으로 이것의 특징은 뚜껑이 열리고 닫히도록 구성된 안경집에 있어서 뚜껑 안쪽에 거울이 마련되고 뚜껑이 연결되는 선단부 안쪽에 끼움홈과 체결홈이 형성된 체결부를 갖는 안경집과 이것에 결합되는 체결구가 마련되어 개폐되는 커버가 형성된 케이스로 구성된다.로 금형설계 및 제작기간을 단축하고자 한다.ere demonstrated in rats after i.c.v., intraperitoneally and orally administration, respectively.   • The purpose of this study is to find out the characteristics of building materials and exterior colors of the traditional palaces in Korea and Japan. Nijo-Castle in Japan and Changdeok-Palace in Korea were selected for the subjects of the study. For the color measurement and analysis, NCS color system was used. The results of this study are as follows. In Changdeok-Palace, Korean pine woods, granites, tiles, blue tiles, clays, Jeon-dol(Korean unique tiles for fences and ground), lime powders, straws, Korean traditional papers, bronze were used for building materials. In Nijo-Castle, however, Japanese pine woods, granites, tiles, clays, lime powders, straws, Japanese traditional papers, bronze and golds were used. As for hues in Changdeok-Palace, Y to R, G ∼ G30Y, R80B∼B, B to G were used mainly, and in Nijo-castle, Y to R, B80G∼B90G, G30Y were found. As for tones in Changdeok-Palace, every kinds of tones were used except 'Deep chromatic' and in Nijo-Castle, 'Greyish chromatic', 'Toned light grey', 'Dark deep', 'Toned dark grey', 'Toned grey' were used. At this study, the building materials and exterior colors were analyized between Changdeok-Palace and Nijo-Castle. And from the results, it is expected that we would understand different cultures of two nations, and get the concept of making their own unique characteristics.

Hierarchical Non-Rigid Registration by Bodily Tissue-based Segmentation : Application to the Visible Human Cross-sectional Color Images and CT Legs Images (조직 기반 계층적 non-rigid 정합: Visible Human 컬러 단면 영상과 CT 다리 영상에 적용)

  • Non-rigid registration between different modality images with shape deformation can be used to diagnosis and study for inter-patient image registration, longitudinal intra-patient registration, and registration between a patient image and an atlas image. This paper proposes a hierarchical registration method using bodily tissue based segmentation for registration between color images and CT images of the Visible Human leg areas. The cross-sectional color images and the axial CT images are segmented into three distinctive bodily tissue regions, respectively: fat, muscle, and bone. Each region is separately registered hierarchically. Bounding boxes containing bodily tissue regions in different modalities are initially registered. Then, boundaries of the regions are globally registered within range of searching space. Local boundary segments of the regions are further registered for non-rigid registration of the sampled boundary points. Non-rigid registration parameters for the un-sampled points are interpolated linearly. Such hierarchical approach enables the method to register images efficiently. Moreover, registration of visibly distinct bodily tissue regions provides accurate and robust result in region boundaries and inside the regions.

Characteristies of the background fabric and coloring of "Buseoksa Temple Gwaebul" in the possession of the National museum of Korea (국립중앙박물관 소장 <부석사 괘불>의 바탕직물과 채색 특성)

  • The "Buseoksa Temple Gwaebul" (1684, K969) in the possession of the National Museum of Korea is a large Buddhist hanging scroll produced for outdoor rituals (gwaebul) at the eponymous temple. The painting demonstrates the most complex composition among the existing Buddhist hanging scrolls as it depicts the Shakyamuni Buddha in the lower middle, surrounded by the Vairocana Buddha, Medicine Buddha, and Amitabha Buddha. This study examines the characteristics of the background fabric and the production methods of the scroll from Buseoksa Temple and explores the characteristics of the coloring techniques by integrating the results of a non-destructive analysis to determine the materials used for coloring. The gwaebul comprises a total of 13 panels, with 11 panels arranged side by side and one panel each added to the top and bottom. The background fabric of the painting consist of semi-transparent silk tabby for the nine panels in the center, and silk tabby for the four panels surrounding the four sides. The coloring materials used to paint the scroll were analyzed using X-ray fluorescence, and were confirmed to be inorganic pigments of red, yellow, green, blue, and white. For some parts painted in yellow and blue, the colors were expressed by first applying light white pigment before adding organic pigments. In addition, ink was used for the black lines and gold leaf was used for the patterns of the Buddhist robes. X-ray irradiation enabled the determination of the location and technique of coloring according to each pigment color by highlighting the difference in brightness depending on the main component and the thickness of each pigment.

Features of the Military Uniforms of the Low-Ranking Soldier Belonging to Jangyongyoung in the King Jeongjo Period Seojangdaeyajodo (정조대 <서장대야조도(西將臺夜操圖)> 장용영(壯勇營) 하급 군사(軍士)의 군복(軍服) 고증)

  • Seojangdaeyajodo is a drawing of Jangyongyoung's military night training on February 12 (lunar leap month), 1795. Focusing on the Seojangdaeyajodo, the positions and roles of the low-ranking soldier belonging to Jangyongyoung, and the composition and characteristics of military uniforms for each role were examined. The results ascertained by the historical research on the military uniforms are as follows. Deungronggun, noeja, sunryeongsu and daegisu who were placed in front of the king's Seojangdae were the low-ranking soldiers belonging to Jangyongyoung. The soldiers who escorted the king around Seojangdae were lowranking soldiers belonging to Jangyongyoung. The military uniform of the deungronggun was consisted of a jeolrip, a black heopsu, red gweja, indigo jeondae, white haengjeon and black shoes. The low-ranking soldier's heopsu suggested that it could also be a sochangui. He carried a sword and a red lantern. Noeja were divided into a sinjeonsu and a jujangsu. The military uniform of the noeja was consisted of a Jujeolrip, a black heopsu, red gweja, indigo jeondae, white haengjeon, and black shoes. Sunryeongsu were divided into a sinsigisu and a younggisu. The military uniform of the sunryeongsu was consisted of a jeongeon, a black heopsu, red gweja, indigo jeondae white haengjeon and black shoes. He carried a sword and a red lantern. The military uniform of the daegisu was consisted of a jeongeon, a black heopsu, blue gweja, indigo jeondae, white haengjeon and black shoes. He carried a sword and a flag. The soldiers surrounding Seojangdae and the seongjeonggun defending the fortress were the Chogun. The military uniform of the chogun was consisted of a jeolrip, a black heopsu, houi, indigo jeondae, white haengjeon and straw shoes. Houi was applying the five directional colors: the east is blue, the west is white, the south is red, and the north is black. He carried a sword and a gun. It was presented as an illustration of costumes that could produce contents by reflecting on these historical results. The basic principle of the illustration was to present the standards for 3D content production or actual production. Samples of form, color, and material according to the times and status were presented. The front, the side, and the back of each costume and the feature were presented, and the colors were presented in RGB and CMYK.

A Study on Jeon Sik(1563~1642)'s Jobok Relics from the 17th Century of the Joseon Dynasty (17세기 전식(全湜, 1563~1642)의 조복 유물 고찰)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify differences in the formative characteristics and system of Jobok by comparing the three relics Ui, Sang, and Daedae, which comprised Jeon-Sik's Jobok, with the data in the literature and five excavated Jobok relics, Sin Kyung-yu, Kwon-Woo, Hwasan-Gun, Milchang-Gun, and Lee Ik-jeong, from the 17th and 18th centuries. Jeon-Sik'sJobok was designated as a Gyeongbuk tangible cultural heritage, Sangju JeonSik Jobok and Crafts, in 2021. The three components of Jeon-Sik's Jobok are valuable as historical data since they are the oldest relics confirming colors. Regrettably, the edging fabric of the Ui made of red twill was mostly lost, with only traces remaining. Based on records, it was presumed that the edging fabric was black. It was confirmed that white decorative lines were yet to be used. In Jeon Sik's Sang, only the three front widths and one rear width remain, but the shape of the four rear widths can be inferred, and the creases were held only at the waist. Eighteenth-century Sang was connected at intervals at the end of the waist. Seventeenth-century Sang was connected with a slight overlapping of the rear Sang below the front Sang; therefore, it is assumed that Jeon Sik's Sang was also connected by overlapping the rear by more or less than 5cm below the front. After Hwasan-gun, the Sang was first made using black lines, then white lines were inserted, and, finally, it was pleated from the waist to the hem. The Daedae made the Yo and the Sin by folding the corners to form a 冂 shape with a single long band. The white Ju(紬) and the green yumunsa were used for the Daedae and the edges. This matches the color of the Daedae seen in the Jobok portraits of Milchang-gun, Lee Ik-jeong, and Jeong Hwi-ryang from the 18th century. In the 17th century, the Daedae made the Yo and the Sin by folding a long band like the Daedae of Jeon-Sik. After the 18th century, the Yo and the Sin were made separately and connected. To tie the Daedae to the waist, thin straps were attached at both ends. The relics of Jeon-Sik can be evaluated as reflecting the 17th-century Jobok system in terms of color and shape. Furthermore, it can be said that they are important historical data complementing the insufficient or inaccurate records of the Gukjoolyeui-seolye and Gyeongguk-daejeon.

  • A vision based hand-gesture interface method for substituting a pointing device is proposed in this paper, which is used the ratio and size variation of Gesture Region. Proposed method uses the skin hue&saturation of the hand region from the HSI color model to extract the hand region effectively. This method can remove the non-hand region, and reduces the noise effect by the light source. Also, as the computation quantity is reduced by detecting not the static hand-shape recognition, but the ratio and size variation of hand-moving from the clipped hand region in real time, more response speed is guaranteed. In order to evaluate the performance of the our proposed method, after applying to the computerized self visual acuity testing system as a pointing device. As a result, the proposed method showed the average 86% gesture recognition ratio and 87% coordinate moving recognition ratio.

Image Features Based Secure Access Control for Data Content Protection (데이터 내용 보호를 위한 이미지 특징 기반의 보안 접근 제어)

  • Data security is always an important issue. In particular, the current emerging cloud computing system inevitably raises the issue of data security. However, data security is no longer safe with a simple way, but requires rather advanced method to secure the data. In this paper, instead of exploiting the existing text-based cryptography approach an image-based access control of data content is studied to present a higher level of data security. Color key chain is generated both using histogram value of the original image, and the location information and featured color information extracted by geometric transformation to form the security key to access secure data content. Finally, the paper addresses design interface and implementation for data content access control for evaluation of the proposed scheme.

  • This paper describes color clustering method based on color difference in the uniform Munsell color space obtained from hue, saturation, and value. The proposed method operates in the uniform HSV color space which is approximated using ${L^*}{a^*}{b^*}$ coordinate system based on the RGB inputs. A clustering and color difference evaluation are proposed by thresholding NBS unit which is likely to Balinkin color difference equation. Region segmentation and isolation process are carried out ISO DATA algorithm which is a self iterative clustering technique. Through the clustering of 2 input images according to the threshold value, satisfactory results are obtained. So, in conclusion, it is possible to extract result of better region segmentation using human color perception of the objects.
