There is a lack of empirical research on the level of students' state anxiety according to their perceived task difficulty when confronting science questions. This study seeks to investigate whether perceived task difficulty moderates the process of arousing students' state anxiety in science learning. In pursuit of this objective, we engaged 410 fifth- and sixth-grade elementary school students (186 fifth graders; 194 females) in solving two science questions. We then verified the moderating effect of perceived task difficulty on the relationship between science anxiety and state anxiety arousal when confronting science questions using the PROCESS Macro Model 1. Results confirmed that science anxiety and perceived task difficulty significantly and positively predicted state anxiety. Notably, perceived task difficulty had a significant moderating effect on the process of arousing state anxiety, where lower perceived task difficulty led to a greater increase in state anxiety after confronting the science questions. We discuss the implications of the findings for science education and propose potential directions for future research.
This research analyzed how the new and senior security guards employed privately are influenced on their task performance by the factors operated before task performance: cognitive state anxiety, physical state anxiety and state confidence which are the sub-factors of the Competitive State Anxiety(CSAI-II) according to the educational background, career, gender and athletic capacity. First, as for the new and senior security guards' state anxiety before task performance, the senior guards felt the cognitive anxiety more than the new guards, but there was not a distinct difference statistically. Therefore, it is estimated that there is little difference in the level of cognitive anxiety between the new security guards with insufficient career and the seniors. Second, the level of the physical state anxiety was shown higher from the senior guards than from the new ones and had a distinct difference. However, it seems to be derived from the extent of physical development as the seniors are at the time of vigorous physical development. Third, the level of state anxiety had no distinct difference between them statistically though the new security guards felt it higher than the seniors. Fourth, the state confidence was shown higher from the seniors than from the new and had a distinct difference statistically, also. Fifth, as for gender, the male and female guards did not have a difference so much in the cognitive and physical state anxiety, and state confidence. Sixth, as a whole, the state anxiety was highest as for the security guards with athletic capacity level 1 and 2. Those with the level 2, and 3 and the level above 7 felt it less than those with the level 5-6, which had a distinct difference in statistics. The manager of the new and senior security guards should make them dispel anxiety in piece of mind through physical and mental education encouraging them to have self-confidence, practical training, and psychological training based on the analysis of causes of various cases.
The purpose of this study is finding alternative parameters of the HRV so as to minimize the subjective errors by STAI and BDI, could be have two types of significant correlation levels depending on normalized method. Particularly, the LF/HF presented as the quantitative physiological parameter that can reflect both state-anxiety and trait-anxiety.

Introduction:Test anxiety is a pervasive problem among high school students in Korea. While anxiety in test situations may actually facilitate the performance of some students, more often it is disruptive and leads to performance decrements. Over the past years, many child psychiatrists have become concerned with understanding the nature of test anxiety, but it is not clearly understood yet. In order to understand the nature of test anxiety, the relationship between test anxiety and depression, state anxiety, trait anxiety, temperament and family environment were examined. Methods:The Test Anxiety Inventory, Chidlren's Depression Inventory, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, Temperamnet and Family Environment Scale Scale were administered to 576 high school students in Seoul. The relationships between test anxiety and other measures were tested using Pearson correlation coefficients and to test the causal relationship among the variables, regression analysis was performed. Results:The correlation coefficients between test anxiety and depression, state anxiety, trait anxiety, temperament and family environment scale were 0.42(p<0.01), 0.34(p<0.05), 0.38(p<0.05), 0.36(p<0.05) and -0.23(p<0.01), respectively. Regression analysis showed that only state and trait anxiety had direct causal relationship with test anxiety. Depression, temperament and family environment were indirecly related with test anxiety. Conclusions:This study indicates that the level of state and trait anxiety are directly related with test anxiety, and other variables such as temperament, family environment and depression are indirectly related with test anxiety. Thus, in order to develop the effective methods for treatment, these psychopathological characteristics should be kept in mind and the most important factors are the levels of state and trait anxiety.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of attachment injury and stsit-trait anxiety on marital adjustment of battered women. The participants were total 220 battered women who have experiences with violence from their spouse. Data were collected from March 20 to May 6 in 2014 from five shelters for battered women, seven counseling centers, and three shelters run by various religion. SPSS 18.0 was used for data analysis and descriptive statistics, ANOVA test, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression were done. As study results, attachment injury, state and trait anxiety showed significant negative correlation. Marriage status, number of children, duration of violence, attachment injury, state anxiety, and trait anxiety were the significant variables to explain marital adjustment. The explanation power was 60.0%. This study results will be use to develop intervention program for enhancement of marital adjustment whereas to decrease attachment injury and state-trait anxiety.
The purpose of this study was to clarify the effect of learner variables on triggering state curiosity and state anxiety in confronting scientific task situation for fifth to sixth grades of elementary school. Science curiosity, interest, need for cognition, science self-concept, science anxiety, prior knowledge, and perceived difficulty were selected as learner variables that are expected to affect state curiosity and state anxiety. As a result of this study, the variables that had a significant influence on evoking state curiosity in confronting scientific task situation were in the order of interest, need for cognition, science curiosity, and prior knowledge, and all of these variables had a positive effect. In addition, the variables that significantly affect on evoking state anxiety in confronting scientific task situation were in the order of science anxiety, perceived difficulty, need for cognition, science self-concept, and prior knowledge. Of these, only prior knowledge had a negative effect on evoking state anxiety, and the other variables had a positive effect. The results of this study are expected to broaden the comprehension of students' emotional states in science education, and provide a theoretical foundation for the studies of state curiosity and state anxiety in science learning.
The purpose of this study was to investigate state-anxiety, dyadic adjustment and pregnancy stress in pregnant women and to identify factors influencing pregnancy stress. Data were collected 158 pregnant women. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, stepwise regression analysis. There was statistically significant difference in state-anxiety on variable such as age. There were statistically significant difference in dyadic adjustment on variables such as education, religion, income. There was not statistically significant difference in pregnancy stress on variables. Pregnancy stress was positively correlated with state-anxiety. Pregnancy stress was negatively correlated with dyadic adjustment. State-anxiety was negatively correlated with dyadic adjustment. Factor influencing pregnancy stress was state-anxiety, which explained 25.1%. Findings provide useful information for further studies in pregnancy stress of pregnant women. Therefore, to reduce pregnancy stress of pregnant women, it is necessary to standardized nursing intervention program.
Objectives: A number of studies have shown that sleep deprivation results in reduced vigilance and increased negative affects such as tension, depression and anger. However there are few studies about effects of sleep deprivation on anxiety. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 40 hour sleep deprivation on state anxiety, affects, sleepiness and fatigue. The authors also intended to study the effect of trait-anxiety on these psychological variables after sleep deprivation. Methods: Twenty nine subjects(22 men, 7 women, $24.59{\pm}1.35$ years of age) participated in this study. Subjects had no past history of psychiatric disorders and physical illnesses, and had normal sleep-waking cycle without current sleep disturbances. All of the subjects completed sleep dairy for two weeks to exclude some who suffered from chronic sleep deprivation or sleep disturbances. Subjects were instructed to get a normal sleep as usual at night before the study. After awakening, subjects remained awake for 40 hours under continuous surveillance. They completed State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, Index of General Affect, Stanford Sleepiness Scale and Fatigue Questionnaire every three hours, therefore they completed the scales 14 times totally. Subjects were dictated not to take caffeine, alcohol, or any medications on the day of the study. Heavy exercises and naps were restricted too. Results: Sleep deprivation resulted in increased state anxiety, negative general affects, and increased sleepiness and fatigue(p<.001). Dividing into high trait-anxiety group and low trait-anxiety group, there was significant sleep deprivation x traitanxiety interaction effect on general affect(p<.05). But, there was no significant sleep deprivation x trait-anxiety interaction effect on state-anxiety, sleepiness and fatigue. During sleep deprivation, the highest ratings of scales on anxiety, negative affect, sleepiness and fatigue occurred between 4 : 00AM and 7 : 00AM. Conclusions: These results show that sleep deprivation results in increased anxiety, mood state disturbance and increment of sleepiness and fatigue. These findings also suggest that trait-anxiety is a factor that influences the degree of worsening in general affect caused by sleep deprivation. During sleep deprivation, the rating curves of anxiety, affect, sleepiness and fatigue show rhythmicity that may be related to circadian rhythm.

This study examined differences in job stresses, depression and state anxiety levels relating to sociological characteristics of records managers and studying whether the mediating effect of state anxiety levels significantly occurs on the depression followed by their job stresses. So we distributed questionnaires of 9 factors including sociological characteristics to record managers, asking them job stresses, depression, and state anxiety levels, and collected 98 questionnaires finally. We analyzed the effect of mediation on the surveyed data using Regression Analysis. As a result, it was found that there is a full mediating effect of state anxiety level between job stress and depression, and that, therefore, state anxiety levels of the record managers must be managed to lower their depression levels.
Introduction : A positive thinking has been known to affect the enhancement of performance. One of temperament characters, harm avoidance is thought to be associated with anxiety related behaviors. Golfer showed highest anxiety and lowest score of harm avoidance, compared to any other sports. We hypothesized that positive feedback and reinforcement in golfer would decrease the anxiety and improve the performance. Methods : Fifty one golfers with the age from 15 to 19 were classified into two groups; 25 golfers who used Zinsser's Changing Negative thoughts to Positive thoughts and Beswick's positive self talk when exercise and competition (P-FB) and 26 golfers who had not (controls). Harm avoidance, Spielberg's Trait and State Anxiety, and Golf scores has been assessed at baseline and 6 months later. Results : There was no significant difference in baseline harm avoidance, anxiety, and golf scores between P-FB and controls. The total golf scores in both groups have improved after 6 month later. However, P-FB group showed greater improvement of total scores and putting scores, compared to controls. The state anxiety in PFB group has been decreased, while there was no change in controls. The change in the state anxiety was correlated with harm avoidance and the change in total golf scores. Discussions : The positive thinking has enhanced performance and state anxiety. The improvement of performance and anxiety in golfers was associated with high harm avoidance. The current study showed that the regulation of anxiety with positive thinking was helpful to the performance enhancement in subject with high harm avoidance.
