  • Nowadays, the construction industry is suffering from the decrease of labor productivity caused by the lack of skilled workers and the aging labor forces. The hazardous work conditions and safety problems still exist at the construction sites. The earthwork operation is not the exception. The number of skilled earthwork equipment operators has been rapidly reduced and the equipment needs to be operated in dangerous / hazardous work sites. Thus, through the development of intelligent excavating system, Intelligent Excavating System(I.E.S) research team tries to enhance the safety of work environment, productivity, quality, and payability of the earthwork operation. It is also expected that this research contributes to the development of fundamental construction automation technologies and to the creation a new market sector.

  • This paper reviewed the necessity of a information and communication technology (ICT)-based smart livestock system as a development strategy for the animal life industry in the future. It also predicted the trends of livestock and animal food until 2050, 30 years later. Worldwide, livestock raising and consumption of animal food are rapidly changing in response to population growth, aging, reduction of agriculture population, urbanization, and income growth. Climate change can change the environment and livestock's productivity and reproductive efficiencies. Livestock production can lead to increased greenhouse gas emissions, land degradation, water pollution, animal welfare, and human health problems. To solve these issues, there is a need for a preemptive future response strategy to respond to climate change, improve productivity, animal welfare, and nutritional quality of animal foods, and prevent animal diseases using ICT-based smart livestock system fused with the 4th industrial revolution in various aspects of the animal life industry. The animal life industry of the future needs to integrate automation to improve sustainability and production efficiency. In the digital age, intelligent precision animal feeding with IoT (internet of things) and big data, ICT-based smart livestock system can collect, process, and analyze data from various sources in the animal life industry. It is composed of a digital system that can precisely remote control environmental parameters inside and outside the animal husbandry. The ICT-based smart livestock system can also be used for monitoring animal behavior and welfare, and feeding management of livestock using sensing technology for remote control through the Internet and mobile phones. It can be helpful in the collection, storage, retrieval, and dissemination of a wide range of information that farmers need. It can provide new information services to farmers.

  • Recently, we have frequently encountered flying drones with the growth of drone industry. However, it is difficult for a driver to stabilize the motor speed of drones, since the voltage of a Lithium polymer battery used in drones may suddenly drop or rise when its power is exhausted. The instability of the motor speed precludes the drone from maintaining a flight altitude, so that the fuselage of a drone performs ascending and descending repeatedly. For solving this problem, existing techniques either add a compensator considering voltage drop of battery or change the control model. Since these techniques use hardware-implemented modules or depend on motor type and experimental results, there is a problem that new suitable modules should be implemented in accordance with the used motor of the fuselage. For solving this problem, in this paper, we implement a motor speed controller in the firmware of drones by considering voltage drop of battery to enhance drone flight stability.

  • Most of the traditional embedded web server systems have been designed for monitoring and controlling some dedicated equipments. Hence, not only they have no generality and flexibility but also they are too expensive for the lower-cost domestic equipment. To cope with these difficulty, we suggest a lower-cost ${\mu}$-embedded web server model which is suitable for monitoring and controlling the industry or house equipments by using the internet. The suggested model is based on an one-chip ${\mu}$-processor in which the ISP (In-System Programming) function and flash ROM are embedded basically to minimize the cost of H/W and S/W. Also it allows to add an new function dynamically to provide the generality and flexibility. Finally, to evaluate the feasibility of the suggested model, we have manufactured a test-board based on the ATMega103 ${\mu}$-processor and programmed the control program and tested it on the MS Explorer 5.0 environment.

  • In this paper, we introduce the wood pellet electric power generation system, which is an eco - friendly solid fuel processed pure wood, which is one of the largest capacity renewable power fuels in Korea, The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy notified the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs of the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs. Derived and validated. It is confirmed that the performance of the generator and the voltage control characteristics of excitation system are good even for the change of generator fuel. It can contribute to future reference at the plant that wants to replace fossil fuels with renewable fuels.

Development of Soil Moisture Controlling System for Smart Irrigation System (스마트 관개 시스템을 위한 토양 수분 제어시스템 개발)

  • The smart irrigation system using ICT technology is crucial for stable production of upland crops. The objective of this study was to develop a smart irrigation system that can control soil water, depending on irrigation methods, in order to improve crop production. In surface irrigation, three irrigation methods (sprinkler irrigation (SI), surface drip irrigation (SDI), and fountain irrigation (FI)) were installed on a crop field. The soil water contents were measured at 10, 20, 30, and 40 cm depth, and an automatic irrigation system controls a valve to maintain the soil water content at 10 cm to be 30%. In subsurface drip irrigation (SSDI), the drip lines were installed at a depth of 20 cm. Controlled drainage system (CDS) was managed with two ground water level (30 cm and 60 cm). The seasonal irrigation amounts were 96.4 ton/10a (SDI), 119.5 ton/10a (FI), and 113 ton/10a (SI), respectively. Since SDI system supplied water near the root zone of plants, the water was saved by 23.9% and 17.3%, compared with FI and SI, respectively. In SSDI, the mean soil water content was 38.8%, which was 10.8% higher than the value at the control treatment. In CDS, the water contents were greatly affected by the ground water level; the water contents at the surface zone with 30 cm ground water level was 9.4% higher than the values with 60 cm ground water level. In conclusion, this smart irrigation system can reduce production costs of upland crops.

  • Recently, Construction market is contracted by economic slump and regulation. As the solution of this plan, construction productivity is gathering strength. However, the study on the productivity in construction section is insufficient until now. Construction section has many factor about productivity. The point of this study, we analysis the factor of construction productivity improvement and relationship with system thinking. And we show the strategy of construction productivity improvement.

  • There are many types of reduction drives for industrial applications. In general, high precision speed reducer which has a cycloid or involute teeth profile, used to in robot. Because, it is essential to use precision reduction drives for accuracy of position control on robot system. In this paper, we propose a robot speed reducer(RSR) with straight line teeth profile, which has basically a triangle teeth profile. In new straight line teeth profile, we have a good result for strength, stress and stiffness by using finite element analysis and the results indicate that variation of eccentric coefficient affects the optimal tooth motion, and it can lower the stress and noise.

  • 고속철도 산업의 핵심 요소 중 하나인 선로전환기는 열차의 진로를 제어해주는 부품으로, 해당 설비의 노후화를 조기에 탐지하여 적절한 시기에 선로전환기를 교체하는 것은 안정적인 철도운영에서 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 선로전환기의 작동 시 발생하는 전류 신호를 이용하여 선로전환기의 노후화를 탐지하는 시스템을 제안한다. 제안하는 시스템은 선로전환기로부터 전류 신호를 취득한 후, 주파수 도메인의 특징인 SK값으로 변환하여 특징벡터를 추출하고, PCA를 이용하여 SK벡터의 차원 축소와 동시에 중요한 특징들만을 선택한다. 마지막으로, 선로전환기의 노후화를 탐지하는 문제를 이진 클래스 문제로 해석하여, 기계학습의 대표적 모델인 SVM을 이용하여 선로전환기의 노후화 여부를 탐지한다. 실제 국내에서 운행 중인 선로전환기의 전류 신호를 취득하여 실험한 결과, 선로전환기의 노후화 상황을 안정적으로 탐지함을 확인하였다.

A EMC Certification Environment Management System using USN (USN 기반 EMC 인증환경 관리 시스템)

  • In EMC(electromagnetic compatibility) certification, the facilities and equipments have been considered as important qualification for registration of EMC certification business. In future, the certification environment is also supposed to be restricted Strictly. Many organizations have made on attempt to establish, certification environment as a international standard. Therefore, in order to enhance the competitive powers of domestic certification industry, a real-time system which can be measure automatically and remotely the temperature, humidity, illumination, CO/CO2, magnetic field, and human sensing is proposed in this paper. This system can also maintain the appropriate measurement environment by using USN (ubiquitous sensor network). The availabilities are confirmed through the experiment.
