  • 다양한 품종이 개발되어 재배되고 있는 다래(Actinidia arguta (Siebold & Zucc.) Planch. ex Miq.)

  • Lentinula edodes is one of the most widely consumed edible mushrooms in Korea. Mating in L. edodes is regulated by a tetrapolar system, and two unlinked genetic loci, A and B, are known to be major determinants of the mating types, as reported in other heterothallic basidiomycetes. The A locus of L. edodes encodes a pair of homeodomain (HD) transcription factors. The highly variable N-termini of these HD transcription factors contribute to the diversity among the A mating types. In this study, we developed a cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence (CAPS) marker to discriminate 11 different A mating type alleles predominant among both cultivated and wild strains. Amplification of the variable region of the A locus followed by digestion with HaeIII and EcoRI restriction enzymes enabled successful discrimination among the 11 A mating type alleles. We also evaluated the applicability of this method in the identification of two A mating types of a dikaryotic strain.

  • In previous classification, forest recreation functions were evaluated by same factors and couldn't consider various characteristics of forest resources. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the recreational function of forest resources by applying different factors to each forest resources. We selected Daegu and Mt. Jiri as study area and divided forest resources into visitor-oriented and forest-oriented recreational resources. The level of recreational functions were evaluated with three grade(low, medium, high). In consequence, our study found out that it is more effective to evaluate forest recreational function by applying accessibility and attraction factors to each forest resources than previous work.

  • In this study, dikaryotic strains of Lentinula edodes were generated by mono-mono hybridization using mating type analysis and their fruiting body characteristics were investigated. Approximately 100 monokaryotic strains were isolated from the basidiospores of Sanbaekhyhang, and homokaryotic strains were isolated from Chungheung 1ho using protoplast isolation and regeneration. Their mating types were evaluated and a total of 60 dikaryotic strains were hybridized. Using these strains, fruiting bodies were produced and their characteristics were examined after cultivation on sawdust media. The results indicated that the rate of hybridization was 100% and that 55 of 60 strains formed fruiting bodies. These showed normal pileus and gill structures; however,10 strains also produced fruiting bodies with abnormal pileus and gill structures. The weight and size of the fruiting bodies differed depending on the strains. Overall, further studies are needed for predicting the characteristics of hybridized strains based on their parental strains.

  • The forest vegetation of the Korean Peninsula is dominated by deciduous Fagaceae forests. The study aimed to comparethe correlation between species composition and environmental factors in Namsan, Odaesan, and Ulleungdo. A vegetation survey of 75 sites was conducted from May to August 2018. Seven vegetation types were classified. The inland representative vegetation was classified as a Quercus mongolica community, and the island representative vegetation was classified as a Fagus multinervis community. The Quercus mongolica community was subdivided into the Aria alnifolia group, representative of cities, and the Tilia amurensis group, representative of mountainous regions. Analysis of important values and indicator species to examine the succession trends according to regional types showed that urban and island forestswere maintained as Fagaceae communities, and that mountainous region foreststransitioned to broadleaf species, such as Tilia amurensis and Carpinus cordata. A CCA analysis of vegetation type and site environmental factors showed that altitude had the biggest effect on species composition at the same latitude. The study results should contribute to a better understanding of the Korean Peninsula forest ecosystem characteristics and provide basic data for establishing a systematic conservation and restoration plan.

  • Due to the global warming, international agreements have been propelled by industrialized countries. These days, there are various studies and projects to reduce the carbon emission quantity in South Korea, because South Korea is a strong candidate for a newly industrialized nation by Kyoto Protocol. Therefore, this study arranges plans to create various thematic map by producing database that can manage various datum based on grid spatial objects to manage quantity of forest biomass and carbon dioxide. Moreover, this study designs a system to create forest biomass by using the best method of calculation with LiDAR data and KOMPSAT-2 satellite images. In addition, this study designs a biomass monitoring system for public institutions to register biomass, suggesting actual plans to extract, manage, and utilized forest biomass.
