Growth of Maackia amurensis at Different Sites of Mt. Joongwang Kangwon-Do, Korea (강원도 평창군 중왕산 지역 다릅나무의 입지별 생장량)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the growth patterns of Maackia amurensis growing in natural forest of Mt. Joongwang, Pyongchang-gun, Kangwon-Do, Korea. The 28 sample plots(30m$\times$30m) wee established to examine the vegetation and environmental conditions for M. amurensis forest. Stem analysis was performed on two sample trees of M. amurensis for each of the 5 plots situated at intervals of one hundred meters by altitude. The results obtained were as follows: ⑴ Height growth of M. amurensis increased with increasing age until 10 years, and then decreased thereafter, especially at altitude of 1,020m. ⑵ M. amurensis showed rapid early growth of height and volume, indicating high biomass production under favorable environment. This growth pattern is typical of pioneer species such as Cornus controversa and Betula costata. ⑶ The rotation age of natural M. amuensis forest was estimated at above 50 years, and especially at about 60 years in 840m above the sea level. ⑷ Growth of M. amurensis increased greatly at about 40 years when released from severe competitions.

  • 본 연구는 북한의 식량난과 산림복구의 일환으로 추진되고 있는 임농복합경영의 현주소를 파악하고 북한의 임농복합경영이 가지는 대표적인 문제점이자 한국농어촌공사에서 접근할 수 있는 기술분야인 관개시설의 구축방안에 초점을 두어 해결방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 특히 임농복합경영 대상지의 경우, 산지를 개간하여 경사도 30° 이하의 경사지를 이용하고 있기 때문에 이 경우 토성이 사질 혹은 식질이 많아 보수력이 평지에 비해 크게 떨어지고 유효수분이 있는 토심도 낮기 때문에 가뭄 및 한발피해에 취약하다. 한발 시 관개를 위해 필요한 저수규모를 설정하기 위해서 강릉 안반데기와 영월 조전지구에서 산정한 단위용수량을 근거로 저수규모를 결정하였다. 계곡물이나 빗물은 자연흐름식 등의 방법으로 동력을 사용하지 않고도 집수할 수 있지만 하천이나 지하수를 퍼올려야 할 경우는 동력이 필수적으로 요구되기 때문에 대체에너지 활용을 고려하는 것이 필요하다. 따라서 임농복합경영을 위한 관개분야에 대한 대책으로 복합 취수원에 따라 하천, 지하수, 계곡, 빗물 등으로 구분하고 그에 따른 주요시설과 사업비를 산출하였다. 북한에서는 임농복합경영을 위한 경제성이 있는 규모로 50ha를 제안하고 있어 50ha규모의 임농복합경영 관수시설 부분에 대한 제안과 북한이 추진하고 있는 임농복합경영은 대부분 외부 지원에 의존하고 있기 때문에 지원의 용이성 및 가능성을 고려하여 10ha의 규모 역시 제안하였다. 50ha의 규모일 때 주요시설은 취수보, 양수장, 암반관정, 저수조, 물탱크, 송수관로, 급수관로, 급수대, 팜폰드, 둠벙, 배수로, 농로 등이며 수원공은 하천, 계곡, 지하수, 빗물이다. 동력은 태양광, 풍력으로 저수규모는 저수조에 2,000톤(40%여유수량), 팜폰드 및 둠벙에 800톤(60%여유수량)을 확보하였다. 10ha의 규모일 때 주요시설은 저수조, 물탱크, 급수관로, 팜폰드, 둠벙, 배수로, 농도 등이며 수원공은 빗물이다. 동력은 경사차를 이용한 자연흐름식 집수 방식으로 무동력이다. 본 연구는 향후 남북관계 개선시 우선 지원사업의 하나로 활용이 가능하다는데 의의가 있다. 50ha의 규모에 제시된 동인 태양광 및 풍력의 경우도 지속적인 유지관리 비용이 들지 않지만 초기 설치비가 높기 때문에 경제성이 있는 관개시스템을 개발할 필요가 있다.

Economic Analysis of Korean-type Mobile Carbonization Apparatus for the Field Utilization of Logging Residues (산지폐잔재의 현지 활용을 위한 한국형 조립식 탄화장치의 경제성분석)

  • This study was designed to analyze the economic efficiency that is needed to develop and make practical application of a mobile carbonization apparatus, which are able to make wood charcoals and pyroligneous liquid at the logging field with debris. B/C ratio was employed to make an economic analysis, and sensitivity analysis with respect to change in price and interest rates also was made. Cylindrical type is the proper type for the mobile carbonization apparatus, when important factors such as handling capacity, a carbonization time, quality of products and assembling ability were considered. It weighs 400 kg, and a three-step fold-up equipment. The size of 2 (diameter) by 2.4 m (height) carbonization equipment required 1,500 kg wood debris per batch. A forty-eight to fifty-two carbonization time produced 300 kg of wood charcoal and $45{\ell}$ of pyroligneous liquid. The average life span of the apparatus was 5 years. If the private enterprise operated 100 batch, 80 batch, and 70 batch with one apparatus, the B/C ratio of them was greater than 1, indicating that the production is economically feasible. The period to achieve a break-even point required to be 4 years in case of 100 and 80 batches to 5 years in case of 70 batch. But the private enterprises should operate at least two apparatus for the profits. Also, if the production was to be profitable, the prices of wood charcoals and pyroligneous liquid should be at least 750 won per kg and 700 won per liter.

Analysis of Consciousness and Model on Land for the Another use After Quarrying (채석장의 부지 활용에 대한 의식 및 모델 분석)

  • The study was conducted to develop an effective forest resources use models for an alternate use of abandoned quarry by an attitude survey. According to the result of survey, a pessimistic view due to dust, noise pollution, and forest damage was 5% higher than an affirmative view by economic benefits from the development of quarry. The 42% of the respondents preferred the alternate use of abandoned quarry and the 25% of the respondents wanted an art and cultural space. The optimum size of alternate use was 5-10 ha (43%) with the requirement of nearby residents (32%). According to the SWOT analysis for abandoned quarry, the strength factors were an effective use of land, the content development of modern industrial inheritance + cultural and art fusion, attraction for nearby city and visitors, a harmony of beauty landscape and clean environment, and a sustainable increase of domestic and foreign visitors with the 5-day-work week. The opportunity factors were the improvement of traffic networks through KTX and local highway, the creation of the new growth engines with the establishment of artistic creation belts, the providing of unique cultural and art space through grafting of tour and education, the creation of local income through stone processed goods, and the vitalization of local development through eco-city. The weakness factors were a psychological remoteness and backwardness, and the weakness of staying tour infra. The threat factors were a poor financial support for sustainable development in nearby quarry and a modify of legal and institutional system for the alternated use of abandoned quarry. The developed restoration models for the alternate use in abandoned quarry are classified to a sculpture park, a waterfall and lake park, a rock-climbing, a sports park + forest park, a native botanical garden, a culture and art park, a complex park, a water storage site, a water storage site to extinguish forest fire, a geriatric hospital, an agricultural facility, and a school site types etc. The results suggest that the alternate use in the abandoned soil and stone quarry is needed to establish facility use models with consideration of user's preference.

Change Prediction of Future Forestland Area by Transition of Land Use Types in South Korea (로지스틱 회귀모형을 이용한 우리나라 산지면적의 공간변화 예측에 관한 연구)

  • This study was performed to predict spatial change of future forestland area in South Korea at regional level for supporting forest-related plans established by local governments. In the study, land use was classified to three types which are forestland, agricultural land, and urban and other lands. A logistic regression model was developed using transitional interaction between each land use type and topographical factors, land use restriction factors, socioeconomic indices, and development infrastructures. In this model, change probability from a target land use type to other land use types was estimated using raster dataset(30m×30m) for each variable. With priority order map based on the probability of land use change, the total annual amount of land use change was allocated to the cells in the order of the highest transition potential for the spatial analysis. In results, it was found that slope degree and slope standard value by the local government were the main factors affecting the probability of change from forestland to urban and other land. Also, forestland was more likely to change to urban and other land in the conditions of a more gentle slope, lower slope criterion allowed to developed, and higher land price and population density. Consequently, it was predicted that forestland area would decrease by 2027 due to the change from forestland to urban and others, especially in metropolitan and major cities, and that forestland area would increase between 2028 and 2050 in the most local provincial cities except Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and Jeju Island due to locality extinction with decline in population. Thus, local government is required to set an adequate forestland use criterion for balanced development, reasonable use and conservation, and to establish the regional forest strategies and policies considering the future land use change trends.

Considerable Aspects for Technical and Vocational Training in Forestry (임업기술(林業技術) 및 직업훈련(職業訓練)에 고려(考慮)되어야 할 사항(事項))

  • The training of forest ranger level and forest worker level to push the sound forest management and to increase the employment effects in forestry will be done without delay as soon as possible. So several opinions to be considered are here discussed. 1. The ranger level will be at first completely trained with the technics developed and modernized, to process really the sound forest management based on the concept of ecological and economical technic. 2. The organization of vocational training and it's systematical training method will be newly adopted to increase the labour efficiency in forestry. The case of fulltime worker level should be more intensively trained and part-time worker or forest famer level should be trained by the forest ranger and skilled worker with visiting circularly their working place. And the daily employed workers and village people for working should be done by the skilled workers. 3. The training subjects for them at the beginning step will be exploited by the instructors and concerned experts with studying their current conditions. Their practical training is more reasonable to do in the practically managing forest and to carry out under the responsible of leader of this forest. 4. The instructors included rangers of training forest will get specially certain intensive training through the aids of outside experts or through the group instruction with them. 5. The training fields and their reasons to be learned by them are discussed in this paper from the basic knowledge to the skill technics. 6. In oder to systematize and mordernize more rapidly our forest technics that need for training them and also applying directly in the forest management, a total effort of certain type by scientists and technicians scattered individually all over the country is now earnestly demanded to synthesize their knowledge, technic and experience. So to do like this, the establishment of certain organization through which can do their total efforts together will be considered and assisted by the concerned authority. 7. For better lieving of full-time workers, the whole-round year working amount have to be supplied though the work technic-and working plan development. And under the conditions that the timber harvesting work is still not so enough and it has a bad climatic season, the in-side working system and side - job aids will be developed for their sound lieving. 8. The organization of labour management will be soon introduced in the concerning administrativ authority to solve the forest labour problems and to increase the employing effects in forestry in future. 9. The supply programm of improved and trained tools and maschines for forest work is also considered to use by the trained persons. If not to do so, the training results will return to the original condition and will get nothing any more.

Viral Diseases of Woody Plants in Korea (한국에서 발생한 목본식물의 바이러스병)

  • New plant viral diseases are being reported every year. However, most of the plant viruses are found on nonwoody plants, such as cereals, vegetables and flowering plants, and relatively few are known on woody trees. On the other hand, 17 viruses have been reported on 11 species of woody plants in Korea, so far. Most of the viral diseases of woody plants are have been reported on fruit trees or ornamental trees. The reason is that the fruit trees or ornamental trees is more important than forest trees in economical aspects. Since many known plant viruses attack several species of nonwoody and woody plants, it is likely that a larger number of viral diseases of woody plants will be discovered as more research is conducted. This paper is an overview about the viral diseases of woody plants reported in Korea.

  • 임원 십육지내에 있는 음청류 중 차에 대하여 요약하면 아래와 같다. \circled1 차의 제법은 엽차나 말차를 향약이성 재료와 꿀 등의 감미료를 첨가하여 엽차를 사용하지 않고 비탕한 것으로 나눌 수 있었다. \circled2 차 재료의 사용부위별을 보딘 열매를 이용한 것이 대부분을 차지하고 있으며 곡물 사용도 많았다. \circled3 문헌을 인용한 것은 중국 원나라 문헌인 거가 필용과 이조 문헌인 증보산림경제에서 주로 인용한 것으로 보아 이조시대에서는 순수한 차의 흔적은 별로 없으나 향약이성 차가 많이 있었다. \circled4 차는 건위, 청심, 윤폐, 해독, 지갈작용을 하는 것이 특징이며 또한 다른 음청류에서 볼 수 없는 보간 역할을 하며 강장 작용도 있었다. \circled5 관능 검사 결과 차는 향기와 감미가 현대의 차류 보다 좋았으며 특히 현대의 단순한 맛보다 복합적인 맛이 있었다. \circled5 우리 나라의 차는 신라시대 이전은 역사가 뚜렷하지 못하기 때문에 차에 대한 기록이 많지 않으나 종일신라시대부터 차를 본격적으로 먹였으며 고려시대에 와서 차풍이 대단히 성행하여 일종의 음차가 예식화 되었다가 이조에 와서는 엽차의 제법이 까다롭고 달이는 법 또한 복잡하여 순수한 차가 없어지고 향약치성 재료로 한 차가 성 행 하였다. 개발 가치성은 강죽차가 가장 높았으며 전체 음료중 차의 개발 가치성은 59%로서 높은 편이며 가치성이 없다는 것은 4%로서 가장 낮았다.

  • "Jeung-Bo-San-Lim-Gyeong-Je" (meaning "Revised Forest Management") has been well recognized as the informative document that introduces scientific knowledge and experiences of Korean ancestors regarding weather and climate. The tradition of Gwan-Cheon-Mang-Gi(i.e., empirical forecasting of short-term weather phenomena based on the status of cloud or sky) has been continuously utilized as a civilian weather forecasting method and even for very short-term weather prediction by operational forecasters these days. This agricultural technology textbook, published during the Great King Youngjo in Chosun-Dynasty, may be regarded as a poorly written document from the modern standpoint. Nonetheless, this study demonstrates that by and large the empirical knowledge contained in the book is indeed science based although their applications are limited to several hours for local forecasts in agricultural practices and daily living. For example, the wisdom of keeping water at an optimum level in a paddy field after sowing to prevent young seedlings from late frost damages was not at all different from the present technique of vinyl covered seedling nursery.

  • 세계의 여러 국가에서 과거 발생했던 강수의 통계적 특성에서 벗어나는 극치사상이 빈번하게 관측되고 있다. 이와 같은 현상에 가장 큰 영향을 미치고 있는 요인중 하나는 지구온난화이며 실제 산업화 이후 온실가스의 증가와 더불어 극한 기상현상의 발생 빈도가 증가하였다. 현재 예상치 못한 수문사상의 발생으로 인해 수자원관리에 있어서 많은 어려움을 겪고 있으며, 특히 호우사상은 막대한 인명 및 사회적 피해를 야기하고 있다. 우리나라의 경우 계절적 특징으로 여름철에 강수가 집중되는 양상을 보이고 있으며 따라서 여름철 강수량을 예측하여 호우에 대한 대비책을 마련해야한다. 계절강수 예측은 수문, 산림, 식품, 등을 포함한 사회 경제적 파급 효과가 매우 크지만 아직 신뢰성 있는 예측은 어려운 상태이다. 또한, 발생 강도와 빈도가 큰 극한 강우는 주로 짧은 시간에 걸쳐 발생하기 때문에 예측하기가 어렵다. 최근 다양한 분야의 연구에서 AO, NAO, ENSO, PDO등과 같은 외부적 요인이 수문학적 빈도를 변화시킨다고 알려지고 있어 본 연구에서는 Bayesian 통계기법을 이용한 비정상성 빈도해석모형을 토대로 외부 기상인자에 의한 변동성을 고려할 수 있는 계절강수량 예측모형을 구축한 후 산정된 결과를 입력 자료로 하여 극치강수량을 추정할 수 있는 비정상성 Four - Parameter (4P)-Beta분포를 이용한 알고리즘을 개발하여 직접적으로 일단위 이하의 극치강수량을 상세화 시킬 수 있는 모형으로 확장하여 이를 통해 기상변동성을 다양한 시간규모에서 고려하기 위한 정보로 활용하고자 하였다.
