  • Human being can be defined in several ways. These are biological, psychological, social and religious, ethical and philosophical aspects. The first two viewpoints refer to the intrapersonal aspects and the last two viewpoints deal with the interpersonal aspects. In every aspect, introspection is very much important to understand him or herself and other person. In this paper, the author summarized the instruction from the oriental old classic books. By doing this process, the author suggested three ways to introspect himself:1) We have to read the old classic books on Wisdom and follow the teachings in those books. 2) Self-analysis may be one way to introspect him or herself. It is to understand his emotional response by way of thinking(reasoning). By repeating this process, affect and thinking can achieve harmony and balance. 3) Training analysis may help to introspect oneself. Qualified analysts may be of help. In order to understand the psychological aspect of patients, the psychiatrists should get insight into his own mind. In this aspect, introspection is the single most important factor in achieving insight.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between self efficacy and a health locus of control. We conveniently sampled 204 university students who smoke. We invastigated by using questionaries and collected data that were analyzed using a t - test, an analysis of variance, a Pearson product-moment correlation. The results are as follows: 1. The average score of self efficacy was 66.16 (out of a total score of 100.00) in university students who smoke. In relation to the health locus of control, the internality score was highest at 25.22, the influence of others was 20.39, and the effect of chance was 15.86. 2. In a significant test of the general character other and aspect related to the smoking of the subjects and in the score of the health locus of control, the internality score of subjects who had been never been asked to quit smoking was higher than that of subjects who had been. There are significant differences in the scores concerning the influence of powerful others, especially religion. In chance occurrences, the score of subjects in medical school was higher than in other schools. The lower the age one beginns smoking, the higher the score of chance. 3. In a significant test of the general character and other aspects related to smoking and the score of self efficacy, there was no significant relationship. 4. Considering the relation of self efficacy to a health locus of control, a positive relationship between self efficacy and internality, and the influence of others, but not between self efficacy and the effect of chance. With these results, we can conclude that the higher the level of self efficacy, the higher the internality, the higher the influence of powerful others. Consequently, it is necessary to identify the relationships clearly among self efficacy the health locus of control by repeated research. It can be used to support, revise and develop health behavior theory.

  • This study was conducted to explore the relationship between locus of control and health belief. the life style of gastric cancer patients. The subjects of this study were 40 of the early gastric cancer and 90 of the advanced gastric cancer who first visiting patient to general surgery out patient department of Chungnam University Hospital for operation. The data was collected with structured questionnaire from July. 1998 to Feb. 1999 The tool were Moon's Health Belief Scale and Multiple Locus of Control of Wallston. Wallston, DeVellis. The data was analysed by SAS program using frequency, $X^2$-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, ANOVA. Scheffe-test, t-test. The results were as follows 1. 30.8% of subjects were early gastric cancer anf 69.2% were advanced gastric cancer. The subject knowing about diagnosis was 83.1%. 16.9% did'nt know about diagnosis. 2. The correlationship between Health belief and Locus of control of subjects was not supported. 3. There was statistically no difference of life style between early and advanced gastric cancer patients. 4. There were statistically significant differences in perceived sensitivity according to weight. educational level. and birth order, in perceived barrier according to educational level. and in perceived severity according to occupation among demographic characteristics of study subjects. From above results. health professional has to educate general population to detect gastric cancer early to improve survival rate because early gastric cancer is high in survival rate, and to prevent recurrence and to maintain continuing healthy status. In the future, gastroscopy also has to expand to detect early. For there was no difference in life style between early and advanced gastric cancer. carcinogen related to diet should be emphasized through education. The perceived benefit among health belief model was not supported in this study therefore further study and comparison between gastric cancer and normal population are needed.

  • The purpose of this study is to research the reason of higher tendencies toward game addiction in the group of adolescents with highly educated parents than the group of adolescents with non-highly educated parents. The results show that the variables affecting adolescents' game addiction in the group of adolescents with highly educated parents are very different with those in the group of adolescents with non-highly educated parents. In the group of adolescents with highly educated parents, most of variables related to family function and communication types are not significantly affecting game addiction, while they are affecting in the group of adolescents with non-highly educated parents. This indicates that highly educated families might have particular family system related to stratification culture.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the mediating effect of emotional dysregulation on the relationship between the specific domains of self-esteem and aggression. Three questionnaire were administered to 287 individuals and the multiple regression analyses and Baron and Kenny's hierarchical regression analyses were used. The result shows that social and objective ability and positive character had significant influence on aggression, while impulse control difficulties, lack of emotional clarity and limited access to emotion regulation strategies largely contributed to aggression. Moreover, emotional dysregulation functioned as a significant mediator variable for explaining the link between self-esteem and aggression. Impulse control difficulties have fully mediated positive personality and hostility, limited access to emotion regulation has partially mediated social and objective ability and hostility, respectively.

  • We study online gaming regulations and examine the reactance and attitude of the targeted group. To be specific, we focus on the 'Shutdown Law' due to its scope and magnitude of its influence. The Shutdown Law was enforced to prevent adolescence's immersion in or addiction to online gaming; however, its effectiveness has yet to reach a consensus. Our empirical findings show that the reactance to the regulation is stronger as game usage increases; surprisingly the effect of game usage on reactance weakens among the affected adolescence's group, compared to the adult counterpart. Furthermore, heavy users in the targeted group are more likely to play online gaming to mingle with their peers, and thus more likely to play other activities that friends participate in. These results suggest that online games play a role to cultivate peer-culture among adolescence and facilitate their communication.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationships among health locus of control, resilience, social support, and health promoting behavior in patients with coronary artery diseases. Methods: This study utilized a descriptive correlational design using a survey method. The subjects were 165 coronary artery disease patients at the cardiology out-patient clinic of the C university hospital. Data were collected through Health Locus of Control Scale, Resilience Scale, ENRICHD Social Support Instrument, Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and hierarchial regression. Results: There were significant positive bivariate correlations of health promoting behavior with internal health locus of control, doctors health locus of control, resilience and social support respectively, and correlation between resilience and social support. Among predictors, internal health locus of control (${\beta}$=.28), social support (${\beta}$=.28) and resilience (${\beta}$=.25) had statistically significant influences on health promoting behavior. Conclusion: These results proposed that internal health locus of control, social support and resilience have important influences on health promoting behavior. Nursing interventions to enhance internal health locus of control, resilience and social support might be essential for patients with coronary artery disease in order to promote their health behaviors.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of self control and social support on the mobile phone dependence in elementary school students. The subjects were 392 children(187 boys, 205 girls) in 5, 6th grade from two elementary schools in Gyeonggi-do. The mobile phone dependence was assessed by the Mobile Phone Dependence Scale(Ko Seong-Ja, 2012), self control was measured by the Self-control Scale(Nam hyeon-mi, 1999) and social support was assessed by the Social Support Scale(Han mi hyun, 1996). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson correlations and hierarchical regressions. The major results of this study were as follows: First, there was no significant difference in mobile phone dependence by sex of the children. Second, children's mobile phone dependence were correlated with self control and social support. Finally, children's self control, family support and peer support significantly explained the mobile phone dependence. But peer support appeared to have negative corelation on mobile phone dependence, but appeared to have static effect in regression result by suppressor variables. So it needs to explore statistical function of suppressor variables in follow-up studies. Also research of this study indicate that self control enhancement program should be developed and parents should communicate more frankly and affectively with their children in order to prevent children's mobile phone dependence.
