The Study on the Causal Relationships of Social Supports, Self-esteem, and Happiness of Adolescent Athletes- Focusing on the Mediation Analysis Using Process Macro (청소년 운동선수들의 사회적지지와 자아존중감 및 행복감 간의 인과적 관계 -Process Macro를 적용한 매개효과 검증을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among social support, self-esteem, and feelings of happiness of adolescent athletes. The subjects of this study were 191 adolescent athletes and 196 general high school students, 387 all together. The questionnaires were used and the data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 and SPSS Process Macro. The results were as follows. First, it was found that adolescent athletes were highly aware of social support than those of general high school students, and both self-esteem and happiness were highly recognized. Second, social support had a positive and significant direct effect on self-esteem. Third, self-esteem had a positive and significant direct effect on happiness. Fourth, social support did not have a direct effect on happiness, but it had an indirect effect on happiness through self-esteem. Based on this, it is considered that it's recommended to prepare specific plans to improve students' happiness in the future.

Factors Influencing health Promoting Behaviors for Long-term care Hospital Nurses (요양병원 간호사의 건강증진행위에 미치는 영향요인)

  • This study examined the influence of self efficacy, social support, and health promoting behaviors of long-term care hospital nurese. Data were collected from March 1 to April 30, 2021 for 180 nurses who worked for 6 months at long-term care hospital nurses by D city. Collected data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis using SPSS/WIN 21.0. Nursing professionalism was positively correlated with the self efficacy(r=.35, p<.001) and social support(r=.34, p<.001). The significant variables explaining self efficacy(β=.290, p=.041) and social support(β=.189, p=.004) These factors explained 17.2% of health promoting behaviors. It is necessary to provide education that consider the self efficacy, social support of long-term care hospital nurse to help them establish an promotion view of health promoting behaviors.

Effects of Stress and Social Support on Happiness of Low-Grade Nursing Students Who Experience COVID-19 Pandemic (COVID-19 팬데믹을 경험한 저학년 간호대학생의 스트레스, 사회적 지지가 행복감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the stress, social support, and happiness in undergraduate nursing students who experienced the COVID-19 pandemic, and to identify factors affecting happiness. The survey was conducted from December 18, 2022 to January 5, 2023. The subjects were 195 first and second grades nursing students attending two universities located in G city. Data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Games-Howell test, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression. Statistically, happiness showed a significantly negative correlation stress(r=-.17, p=.017) and positive correlation with social support(r=.68, p<.001). Influencing factors on happiness were social support(β=.63, p<.001) and department satisfaction(β =.30, p<.001) accounting for 49.7% of the total change. In order to improve the happiness of nursing students based on the results of this study, strategies and programs that can increase social support and department satisfaction are needed.

  • The study was a study that identified the mediating effect of social support in the effect of stress on suicidal ideation of nursing students. The subjects of the study were in the 3rd and 4th graders of nursing department at a university in G city, understanding the purpose of the study and agreeing to participate, and the final subjects were 132. Data collection was conducted from November 10 to November 25, 2021. The analysis used descriptive statistics, t-test, One way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, multiple regression with SPSS 25.0 program. As a result of the study, it was found that stress, suicidal ideation, and social support of nursing students had a significant correlation, and social support had a mediating effect in the relationship between stress and suicidal ideation. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop and apply a mental health promotion program that attempts repetitive research and strengthens social support.

The Relationship among Child Care Teachers' Personal Characteristics, Resilience and Social Support (보육교사의 개인변인, 회복탄력성, 사회적 지지의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among child care teachers' personal characteristics, resilience, and social support. The subjects in this study were 154 child care teachers working in Gangwon province. The resilience questionnaire(Jung Hyun Lee, 2013) revised from KRQT-52(Korean Resilience Quotient Test) and the perceived social support scale(Lee Jae-Young, 2012) were used for this study. For the research analysis, frequency, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient, and Pearson's correlation were calculated and ANOVA test, Scheff$\acute{e}$ post-hoc analysis, and regression analysis were conducted. The results are as follows. Firstly, it was revealed that child care teachers' experiences, age, marital status, and type of child care center had a statistically meaningful difference in resilience. In contrast, teachers' educational backgrounds did not have a meaningful difference in resilience. Secondly, all the sub-variables of teacher's perceived social support had a positive statistically significant correlation with all sub-variables of their resilience. Thirdly, physical support of child care teachers' perceived social support had statistically meaningful positive influences on the positive characteristics and the overall resilience. Also evaluative support of child care teachers' perceived social support had statistically meaningful positive influences on the interpersonal skills, self-regulation, positive characteristics, and the overall resilience of resilience. In conclusion, the results indicated that it is needed to strengthen child care teachers' perceived social support for enhancing resilience, taking into account the background characteristics of individual teachers.

The Effect of Stress on Depression of the Elderly: Focusing on the Moderating Effect of Social Support and Mediating Effect of Sense of Self-Respect (스트레스가 노인의 우울에 미치는 영향: 사회적 지지의 조절효과와 자아존중감의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • The objective of the current study is to verify the moderating effect of social support and mediating effect of sense of self-respect in the impact of stress on depression of the elderly. The subjects of the study are 485 people aged 65 or above who use a comprehensive social welfare center. First, in the effect of stress on depression of elderly people, family issues, health issues, economic issues, and feeling of loss were found to be significant. Second, in the impact of self-respect in the elderly on their depression, family issues, economic issues, and feeling of loss were found to have a mediating effect on depression, but not with health issues. Third, in the impact of social support to the elderly on the relationship between their stress and depression, the moderating effect of social support on depression was found to have a negative value. Based on these findings, the study suggests practical implications on social welfare in reducing depression experienced by the elderly.

Effects of the Leisure Activity and Social Support of the Elderly on Their Psychological Well-Being (노인의 여가활동과 사회적 지지가 심리적 복지감에 미치는 영향)

  • The Purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the leasure activity and social support of the elderly people on their psychological well-being and the moderating role of social support. For this study, data were collected from 347 old people participating in the leasure activity programs operated by 10 facilities for the aged in Seoul, using structured questionnaires. Hierarchical regression analysis technique was used as a main data analysis method for hypothesis test. This study found that productive leasure activity had a beneficial effect on psychological well-being of the elderly measured in terms of life satisfaction and loneliness, whereas consumptive leasure activity had a positive effect only on life satisfaction; that, with regard to social support, spouse support had the most important effect on life satisfaction, followed by friend support and children support, whereas friend support had the most important effect on loneliness, followed by spouse support; and that the relationship between productive leasure activity and life satisfaction was moderated by spouse support and friend support, whereas the relationship between productive leasure activity and loneliness was moderated by friend support.

The Relationship between Gerotranscendence, Family Support, Social Support, Self-esteem, and Fear of Death in Elders for Promotion of Life Care (라이프케어 증진을 위한 노년기의 노년초월, 가족지지, 사회적지지, 자아존중감, 죽음불안과의 관계)

  • This study is a descriptive study to dentify gerotranscendence, family support, social support, self-esteem, and degree of fear of death and the relationship between old age. Through this study, it provide basic data that can help target elderly people do better in their later years. From June 2018 to October 2018, residents' self-governing centers, senior citizens' centers, and life-long education centers were visited to explain the purpose of the research, and those who voluntarily agreed to the research were selected. The following results were obtained by surveying 50 adults aged 60 or older in Seoul using structured questionnaire. The difference in the level of gerotranscendence, family support, social support, self-esteem, and fear of death according to the general characteristics of the target was analyzed as t-test and ANOVA. The correlation of gerotranscendence, family support, social support, self-esteem, and fear of death in early years of life was analyzed as Pearson correlation coefficient. Among the common traits, age was related to social support and death anxiety, marital status was related to family support, and life satisfaction was related to family support. There was a correlation between old age and fear of death, a correlation between family support and self-esteem, and social support related to self-esteem and fear of death. In conclusion, this study found that early retirement in the old age was associated with fear of death, and it was found that family support in the old age affected self-esteem and satisfaction in life. Future studies need to be conducted on groups of adults in the later years, including the degree of elderly age, satisfaction with living, and relationship between the elderly and the elderly.

Effects of Stress-coping Styles on Depression in Children from Multi-cultural Families : Focusing on Mediating Effects of Social Support (다문화가정 초등학교 아동의 스트레스 대처양식이 우울에 미치는 영향 -사회적 지지의 매개효과를 중심으로-)

  • The present study aims to investigate the mediating effects of social support in regard of the impacts of stress-coping styles on depression in children from multi-cultural families. In a nutshell, the findings in this study are as follows: First, the stress-coping styles of children from multi-cultural families and depression were found to be negatively related, while social support and depression were negatively correlated. Second, as for the effects of stress-coping styles in children from multi-cultural families on depression, the more passive and active stress-coping styles of children from multi-cultural families, the less their depression, behavior disorder, loss of interest, self-abasement and physical symptoms. Third, high levels of teachers' support partially mediated the relation between stress-coping styles and depression in children from multi-cultural families. This finding implies that children from multi-cultural families, who perceive high levels of peer support, cope with stress better and thus reduce depression.

Convergent Study of the Factors Affecting the Quality of Sleep among Elderly Insomnia Patients (노인 불면증 환자의 수면의 질에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 융합연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify relationship among the depression, social support and quality of sleep in elderly insomnia patients. A total of 143 patients with insomnia diagnosed according to DSM-IV criteria. Quality of sleep, depression, and social support were measured using a self structured questionnaire and participant's medical records were reviewed for obtaining their clinical information. Quality of sleep was positively associated with depression(r=.255, p<.05), and negative correlation with social support(r=-.270, p<.001). The significant factors for quality of sleep were information support(${\beta}=-0.406$, p<.05) and affectionate support(${\beta}=-0.525$, p<.05). These factors explained 13.2% of the variance in quality of sleep. The elderly patients suffering the insomnia need the nursing interventions considering information support and affectionate support in order to improve sleep quality.
