  • Sustainability has already become one of the most important innovation policy agendas in many countries. Korea has tried to emulate this global trend in various forms, unfortunately with little success. A very strong tradition of centralized administration in Korea has meant that local communities and municipalities have remained more or less passive in tackling their own sustainability issues and problems. In recent years, with the impetus of huge democratization attempts in Korea since the late 1980s, there have been some local attempts to remedy these imbalances since the early 2000s. A series of local experiments to try and test green alternatives against the very hostile environment have been implemented, with varying degrees of success. This study analyzed cases of transition experiment to sustainable socio-technical system such as MUSIC project, Low Carbon Green Village and Citizens' Sunlight Power Stations. To draw politic meanings for sustainable socio-technical system, these content, process of conversion and feature were examined.

  • In this paper, a ontology-based keyword structuring method is proposed to represent the knowledge structure of scholarly documents and to make inferences from the semantic relationships holding among them. The characteristics of thesaurus as a knowledge organization system(KOS) for subject heading is critically reviewed from the information retrieval point of view. The domain concepts are identified and classified by analysis of the information activities occurring in a general research process based on scholarly sensemaking model. The ontological structure of keyword set is defined in terms of the semantic relationship of the canonical concepts which constitute scholarly documents such as journal articles. As a result, each ontologically structured keyword set of a document represents the knowledge structure of the corresponding document as semantic index. By means of the axioms and inference rules defined for information needs, users can efficiently explore the scholarly communication network built on the semantic relationship among documents in an analytic way based on the scholarly sensemaking model in oder to efficiently retrieve the relevant information for problem solving.

  • Recently, as social distancing have been raised due to the re-spread of COVID-19, the number of serial entrepreneurs who are closing their business is rapidly increasing. Learning from failure is a source of success, but business failure can result in psychological and economic losses and negative emotions of the serial entrepreneur. At this point, it is very important to find a way to recover the negative emotions caused by business failures of serial entrepreneurs. Recently, a strategic model has emerged to deal with the negative emotions of grief caused by business failures of serial entrepreneurs. This study identified the recovery factors from the grief of business failures of serial entrepreneurs and analyzed Shepherd's(2003) three areas: loss orientation, restoration orientation, and dual process. To this end, individual in-depth interviews were conducted with 12 small business serial entrepreneurs who challenged re-startup to identify the attributes of recovery factors that were not identified with quantitative data. As a result of the study, first, recovery factors were investigated in three areas: individual orientation, family orientation, and network orientation. It was found to help improve recovery in nine categories: self-esteem, persistence, personal competence, hobbies, self-confidence, family support, networks, religion, and social support. Second, recovery obstacle factors were investigated in three areas: psychological, economic, and environmental factors. Nine categories including family, health, social network, business partner, competitor, partner, fund, external environment, and government policy were found to persist negative emotions. Third, the emotional processing process for grief was investigated in three areas: loss orientation, restoration orientation, and dual process. Ten categories such as family, partner support, social member support, government support, hobbies, networks, change of business field, moving, third-party perspective, and meditation were confirmed to enhance rapid recovery in the emotional processing process for grief. The implications of this study are as follows. The process of recovering from the grief caused by business failures of serial entrepreneurs was attempted by a qualitative study. By extending the theory of Shepherd(2003), This study can be applied to help with recovery research. In addition, conceptual models and propositions for future empirical research were presented, which can be discussed in carious academic ways.

  • This study aimed to identify the effects of mothers' variables and present children's variables on subsequent childbirth plan and to explore predictors of subsequent childbirth plan for non-employed and employed mothers. The subjects were 1,635 mothers participating in the Panel Study on Korean Children from 2008 to 2010 and having no subsequent children until 2010 after giving birth to children in 2008. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t test, ${\chi}^2$ test, and decision tree analysis. The main results of this study were as follows. Firstly, mothers' child-rearing stresses, child value, marital satisfaction, social support, present children's birth order and sex influenced mothers' subsequent childbirth plans, whereas mothers' average family income per month did not. Secondly, in the case of non-employed mothers, their present children's birth order and sex, and mothers' child value predicted their subsequent childbirth plan. Specifically, mothers whose present children's birth order and sex was first and female had the highest possibilities of subsequent childbirth plan, followed by mothers whose present children's birth order and sex was first and male, and child value was higher. Thirdly, in the case of employed mothers, their present children's birth order and mothers' marital satisfaction predicted their subsequent childbirth plan. Specifically, mothers whose present children' birth order was first and marital satisfaction was higher had the highest possibilities of subsequent childbirth plan. Finally, the study suggested the role of Home Economics Education in raising the rate of subsequent childbirth.

  • Our society has an obligation and responsibility to respect and protect the character of the child. Recently, however, Korean society has been suffering from child abuse and abuse that is pouring out every day. In order to protect these children, the child protection system and the judicial system should be fundamentally child-friendly. The CASA(Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteer program, which is being held in the United States with such a concern, is a continuing program of court attendance and emotional support services for abused children throughout the United States. In Korea, however, there are many similar programs such as mentoring projects, dream co-supporters project similar to the CASA program in various organizations of the region and the enactment of the Act on the Punishment of Child Abuse increases the involvement of the public system in child abuse. There is also an increased awareness of children's rights and strengthened government intervention through active monitoring to prevent recurrence of child abuse. These changes in the Korean society should be actively reviewed by the US CASA program and settled as a national project in the Korean society so that the system of protecting the safety and rights of the victims of child abuse will be established. It is anticipated to be a way to prevent social problems from occurring in advance.

  • This study is aimed to examine the emotional experiences of parents with children who have been sexually abused by others. Five mothers whose child was sexually abused participated in this study. They were first recruited through recommendations made by social welfare agencies that provided services to these children. We conducted two or more in-depth interviews for each mother to collect the data. The mothers' emotional experiences were analyzed using phenomenology. Mothers expressed that they felt like the whole world came crashing down around them, felt "totally lost", and felt deep pain together with their children, such that "my family and I were so devastated". Nevertheless, they gradually came to believe that they could overcome this tragedy by continuously making efforts to protect their children from the dangers outside. Despite their efforts, however, they kept the feeling of "hopelessness, neglect, and their children's wounds", deep inside them. The results indicate that it is necessary to have an intervention for mothers whose child has been sexually abused from a companions' perspective within 10 days after the sexual abuse incident.

  • This study focused on application and examination of the goal attainment scale(GAS) to participants diagnosed as schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders. The participants were instructed to set their own goals and evaluate them using the GAS. Scores of each participant's GAS were later calculated to determine the level of goal attainment. A single group pre-post test design and linear mixed effects models were used to examine application and effectiveness of the GAS. The results found that the average GAS scores increased along with observations and the rate of the increase were statistically significant. In addition, this study indicated the importance of self-determined goal setting, goal attainment, and supports of the process. Practical implication and limitation of this study were also discussed.
