The empirical test showed that social interaction ties have a significant and positive impact on relational social capital(trust in SNS site, trust in SNS user, reciprocity). In addition, it was proven that trust in SNS site played a critical role in satisfying SNS user whereas trust in user and reciprocity was not related to SNS user satisfaction. Finally, trust in SNS site and reciprocity were proven to be key determinants of continuous information sharing intention, whereas trust in user was not related to continuous information sharing intention.

And by this it is also to integrally analyze through what route social capital affects the recommendation intention and turnover intention. An actual analysis through covariance structural equation model was made targeting the members of small and medium sized manufacturing companies. The results of the actual analysis showed that the relational dimension in the social capital had an positive(+) and the most pervasive effect on the organization trust. Relational dimension refers to the formation relationships among members and has a significant value in the interaction in the relation between subordinates and superiors, between colleagues, and between departments. • One of the main objectives of this paper is to identify the mediating effects of both social and intellectual capitals in the relations between entrepreneurship and innovation performance in Small and Medium Businesses. Based on the previous literatures on their relationships, we set our research model and test our hypotheses through a questionnaire survey. The main results of our analyses are as followings: first, entrepreneurship has a significant effect on innovation performance; second, social capital has a significant mediating effect between entrepreneurship and innovation performance; and finally, there exists a significant mediating effect between intellectual capital and entrepreneurship. One of the main policy implications of this study would be that the level of both social and intellectual capitals, coupled with entrepreneurship, should be reinforced in order to improve innovation performance.

  • This study has been conducted to assess the effectiveness of the elderly employment programs through change of social capital by understanding how the elderly employment programs in the elderly employment policy of Korea has effected the change of social capital. The method of research was to design the research in the nonequivalent control groups design from the quasi-experimental design for the 500 elderly who participated and 250 who have not participated in the elderly employment programs through distributing structured questionnaire by classifying into before and after the project during 7 months from March 1, 2010 to September 30, 2010 to those above 65 living in Changwon. The social capital which is an important variable among the measurement index of the study has been set as trust, network, and social participation fields based on the aforementioned theoretic background. When the fact that there is a partial difference in the change of social capital of the elderly according to the participation in the elderly employment programs and the timing (before/after) is looked at in terms of change of social capital after controlling the general character of the elderly and the pre-score, there are differences per timing according to the participation in the elderly employment programs. Thus, the participation in the elderly employment programs had a significant difference in the change of social capital. It is possible to see that the trust, network, and social participation of the social capital all increased in the elderly with difficulties in their living status. It can be seen that the participation in the elderly employment programs brings forth increase of social capital for the elderly with difficulties in their living status. Among the social capitals, the elderly who participated in the elderly employment programs showed that the trust increased the most. Consequently, in order to increase the comprehensive social capital, the programs must be carried out focused on the vulnerable class in parallel to the elderly employment programs for the general elderly of other classes.

  • This paper explores how multiple facets of social capital in Korea affects social conflict. The notion of social capital is composed of several elements including (1) social trust in generalized others (2) confidence in public sector fairness and the principles of democracy (3) social networks and closures and (4) community spirit and collective norms. We particularly examine how these multiple dimensions of social capital affect an individual`s tendency of social conflict orientation. The findings address the following four points. First, an individual, who trusts generalized others in a society, is less likely to be exclusive and conflict-oriented. Second, the more an individual has confidence in the efficacy of democratic processes and public sector fairness, the more (s)he is likely to be social integration oriented. When an individual, in contrast, gives strong support to a particular party (or government in power), the person is more likely to be conflict oriented. Third, an individual who mobilizes exclusive social closures to solve a problem is more likely to be conflict oriented. However, an individual who maintains a variety of inclusive social networks is more likely to be social integration oriented. Finally, the internalization of collective norms does not affect directly the tendency of individual's social conflict orientation. Increasing social capital at the individual level does not automatically guarantee societal level conflict resolutions. Rather, building extensive social closures based on strong family or hometown ties, school connections, political interests has detrimental effects on social integration and conflict resolutions. More, constructive social integration in a society requires higher level of open social networks, consistent administrative and democratic procedures, and social trust in generalized others.

Finally, latent means analysis was carried out to examine differences among social welfare organizations in the subindexes of social capital including network connectivity, setting and sharing of vision, reciprocal norm, trust and cooperation, and group participation. As a result, there were significant differences among social welfare organizations in network connectivity, reciprocal norm, trust and cooperation and group participation but no statistically significant differences among them in sharing of vision, goal and core value.
