This study investigated the relation between social worker's reflective thinking levels and the usage of social work practice skills. Dewey definded reflective thinking as active, persistent and careful consideration of any belief. And social work practice skills refer to those purposeful intervention activities, that are intended to alleviate client's distress, enhancing a client's coping abilities. Reflctive thinking levels consists of intensive reflection, reflection, understanding and habit action. The key of social work practice skills can be categorized into three major categories: supportive skills, therapeutic coping skills and case management skills. These categories were designed to apply to a diverse range of client populations. This paper proves that social work's reflective thinking ability and interactions with other workers have an effect on the intervention activities. In conclusion, this research indicates that if social works have a higher reflective thinking levels, they will creat practice siklls and social work practice knowledge.

Using the Grounded theory, the data is analysed by open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. Finally the core category is become known that community practice is the piled up process of developmental experience throw willful efforts and various strategies under poor circumstances. The findings are as follows: (1) the experienced social workers seriously consider residents, community, social workers, and community welfare centers as the core participant in community practice. As one of the essential elements of social work practice, knowledge articulates what the social work profession is doing and ought to do. With an emphasis on building a body of knowledge for the profession, this study analyses the nature of social work knowledge. First, the study examines concepts of social work theories and models, which are built around separate clusters of concepts from a broad base of theoretical orientation. The study reviews epistemological and ideological debates over how to perceive and approach social issues and the role of the social work profession. In organizing a clear conceptual framework for social work practice, different frames of reference and selective and fragmentary knowledge from other disciplines are considered barriers. For the development of a clear identity as a unified profession and the prospects of a value-based profession, more attention needs to be given to specify practical knowledge that is contextual and appropriate to practice settings and more sensitive to social issues.
This study investigated the relation between social worker's beliefs on the nature of scientific knowledge which has been classified objectivism and constructivism and social work practice. As an epistemological position, constructivism is based on a view of knowledge that differs from that of objectivism, which holds that knowledge exists "out there" as objective truth. The focus of this paper is a examination on epistemological beliefs of social worker and social work practice. This paper proves that social work's epistemological beliefs have an effect on the practice modes. This research indicates that social works have a higher constructivist veiws than objectivist veiws on the nature of scientific knowledge. And social worker who have a high level of objectivism show a positive determinative mode. It has suggested that the constructive theory offers useful epistemology to the social worker who should deal with the clients in uncertain situations. In conclusion, a social worker with a high level of constructivism use an approach that creats a more equitable relationship between social worker and client. This perspective will allows cliens to participate in the formulation of theories in practice.

Although social work practice skills are one of the important components of social work practice, research on social work practice skills has been very scarce. It seems that the reason might be a lack of standardized instruments used to measure social work practice skills. The purpose of this study is to validate a Korean version of the Practice Skills Inventory(PSI) developed by O'Hare and colleagues. The PSI is the only instrument developed in the field of social work to measure the frequency of social work practice skills that social workers use. A total of 310 social workers working in medical or mental health field were participated in this study. A result of confirmatory factor analysis showed that the Korean version of the PSI is composed of 4 factors like its english version. The Korean version of the PSI was also reliable and valid. Implications for social work research, practice and education are provided.
The purpose of this study was to explore the social workers' reflections developed during the participatory action research seeking practice methods in the community welfare center single parent self-help groups. Nine social workers and researchers sharing difficulties in the community welfare center single parent self-help group practice were involved in the participatory action research. We performed a circulatory research repeating 'plan-action-reflection-replan' cycles through ten sessions of research meetings including peer supervision in parallel with 4 self-help group practices. Multiple practice methods were derived as the result among which change in the social workers' perception was the key. We focused on the result that the social workers' perception was changed by reflections from participatory action research and the contents of the reflections were qualitatively analyzed using materials acquired during the study. As a result the following 5 themes were derived; 'recognition and worry on the lack of appropriate practice for the self-help group', 'specification of the social workers' role based on the changed perspective on the member-social worker relation', 'confirmation of the possibility of the concerned person initiated practice', 'detailed understanding of the single parent self-help group in the community welfare center', and 'renewed recognition of the development of the single parent self-help group in the community welfare center'. Based on these results, empowerment and reflection/reflective practice for single parent self-help group in the community welfare center were discussed.

Anti-oppressive practice (AOP) is a form of social work practice that has developed in the UK. In South Korea, Anti-oppressive social work has not been widely studied / explored unlike in other countries in the world. Its main principles, social justice and human rights, have become commonplace. AOP includes transformational practice because its orientation emphasizes social change through celebrating diverse identities and rejecting hierarchies of oppression and prestige. Recently, a growing body of literature on social work with foreign workers has resulted in an increased understanding of its population and its needs. It needs a theoretical and practical framework for foreign workers necessary to inform effective models of service delivery, reflecting cultural competence, and changing oppressive social structure. In this paper, we will introduce the main principles of AOP, analyse written texts reflected by foreign workers and social work practitioners' opinion, and suggest the implications on possibilities and constraints of applicability to foreign workers in South Korea.
