The study aims to analyze the characteristics and problems of raw image file formats, evaluate its suitability for the management of digital photographic records, and suggest the introduction method to utilize such format in public institutions. Raw image file formats feature reversibility and flexibility. However, most of them are proprietary file formats that depend on the digital camera manufacturer. The DNG format, which was developed to standardize raw image file formats, has received positive reviews from overseas public agencies. However, the DNG format is not fully recognized as a standard; hence, it is appropriate to use it tentatively until the standard raw format appears. On the other hand, the converted digital photo file format is not recognized as an original with legal authenticity. Therefore, in the short term, DNG files created by format conversion and original raw files should be encapsulated and preserved. Furthermore, it is necessary to redefine the baseline of the hash value and file size to recognize the legal authenticity only with DNG files in the long term.

Science and technology are deeply based on the invention of photography. The images that were made through machines and scientific process were not just delicate images. Photography was used wherever accurate record and realistic description were needed, such as public culture, art, advertisement, science research and so on, so it became an important part of anthropologic culture. However, the history of photography in the present photography education mainly deal with photographic tendency of famous photographers, the change of art paradigm by time period, social changes through big wars, thus there is a lack of diverse perspective in the history of photography, such as technological perspective. In this study, the history of photography was examined through science and technology, and analyzed how photography was affected and changed by the stage of important technological accomplishment. From this point of view, It will be helpful to understand modern photography, and meaningful to be a good reference. Furthermore, by understanding that photography relies on technology, the people who majored in photography will realize how important studying photographic technology and theories is.

최근 스마트폰과 관련한 게임 어플리케이션들이 여가시간이나 자투리 시간 활용에 폭발적인 인기를 누리고 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 환경에서 스마트폰을 이용하여 남, 여 연예인 사진을 가지고 이미지 퍼즐을 풀어 유명 연예인의 사진을 맞추는 이미지 퍼즐 게임을 안드로이드 기반으로 구현하였다. 본 연구에서 개발된 스마트폰 어플리케이션은 스마트폰이 대중화 된 무선 인터넷 시대에서 모든 스마트폰 사용자들이 여가시간을 즐겁게 활용할 수 있도록 설계 및 구현되었다.

This study aims to share a methodology for locality reproduction by concretely explaining the theoretical model, procedure, and practice of constructing the Port of Busan Image Digital Archive, based on the photographic and postcard images of the Port of Busan, the representative place of Busan. Among the open-source record management programs, Omeka was chosen in implementing the digital archive because of its suitability for image exhibition. After establishing the principles for archive implementation in accordance with the purpose of the archive, a basic investigation was conducted for the record collection. With the consent of the individuals and institutions that possess the related records on the Port of Busan, such as the National Archives of Korea, the Busan Museum, and the City of Busan, original image artifacts were thus collected. The collected artifacts were then described using the Dublin Core metadata and categorized by time period. The Port of Busan was classified through four distinctive spatial characteristics (transportation, historic, industrial, and living spaces). A total of 11 themes for the exhibition was then suggested. The Busan-Shimonoseki Ferry Boat was chosen as an example exhibition of transportation space.

This research analyzed military journalist activities and key photos of Werner Bischof, the military journalist during Korean war. Werner Bischof entered Korea twice in 1951 and 1952 for military journals. Through Korean war pictures, essay, multiple letters and photobooks, I shed a light on the background of his military journals and activities, and analyzed topics and characteristics based on key photos that he took during his first and second military journalist activities. Bischof created a work centered on 'Human'. Especially, he has this consciousness of 'What happens to civilians in war-ridden area?'. Bischof took civilians in Sanyangri in his camera to announce pain of civilians and tragedy of war coming from war during his first military journalist activity. During his second military journalist activity, he critiqued ideological brainwashing, life of prisoners of war in a humanist point of view. The latter showed characteristics of clear contrast of black and white, image arrangement based on characters, and outstanding photo views. His military journal activity is in search of civilian suffering, and humanism in Korean war. This consciousness crosses through generation over generation that cannot be compared to other military journalists.

We present a real-time photomosaics method for small image set optimized by feature selection method. Photomosaics is an image that is divided into cells (usually rectangular grids), each of which is replaced with another image of appropriate color, shape and texture pattern. This method needs large set of tile images which have various types of image pattern. But large amount of photo images requires high cost for pattern searching and large space for saving the images. These requirements can cause problems in the application to a real-time domain or mobile devices with limited resources. Our approach is a genetic feature selection method for building an optimized image set to accelerate pattern searching speed and minimize the memory cost.

본 논문에서는 카메라 센서만을 이용하여 손바닥 사진을 촬영하고 추출된 데이터들을 합성하여 멀티 채널 이미지를 생성 및 분류 모델에 입력하여 신원을 확인하는 딥러닝 모델을 제안한다. 이 모델은 손바닥 사진이 입력되면 손바닥 및 손금 세그멘테이션을 이용하여 마스크 이미지를 추출하고 단일 채널로 구성된 이미지들을 멀티 채널 이미지로 합성/재구성하여 신원을 분류하는 딥러닝 모델이다. 이는 카메라 센서 외 다른 센서가 필요 없다는 장점을 가지고 있으며, 비접촉 신원 인식 시스템에 적용할 수 있다.

The number of digital camera users is increasing rapidly and countless number of photos floats about on the internet especially through wide-spreading Cyworld and blogs. Though portraits cover a large percentage of those photos, because of the property rights, near entirety or such photos are unavailable for use by web-page producers, advertising companies, web-designers, and so on, who need a variety of portraits with differing expressions and characteristics. This study offers a search engine that incorporates image characteristics based on natural language index, which can provide a fast and reliable search result. It will create an opportunity for the digital photographers to mure easily sell their pictures and simultaneously provide the would-be users of the photos a better and easier way to find the pictures they are looking for. Once the search engine is realized, it will become possible to use not only the nouns as keywords and categories but also verbs in search of portraits revealing feelings, expressions, dressings, and other characteristics.

Xiao Quan is a leading documentary portrait photographer in China. He tried to shoot portrait photographs of celebrities in the literary and artistic world. By doing this, he represented their time period. We explored the way Xiao Quan implemented the times they lived in by analyzing their portrait photographs included in . Our research showed that Xiao Quan used images of their living environments, clothes and facial expressions and composition of portraits. Such various methods of creation are a means for the symbolic expressions of their times. This research not only finds the way Chinese documentary portraits are created but also provides an opportunity to increase the value of documentary portraits as historic documents.
