Leaving positive or negative comments of places where he or she visits on location-based services is being common in daily life. The sentiment analysis of place reviews written by actual visitors can provide valuable information to potential consumers, as well as business owners. To conduct sentiment analysis of a place, a spatial sentiment lexicon that can be used as a criterion is required; yet, lexicon of spatial sentiment words has not been constructed. Therefore, this study suggested a method to construct a spatial sentiment lexicon by analyzing the place review data written by Korean internet users. Among several location categories, theme parks were chosen for this study. For this purpose, natural language processing technique and statistical techniques are used. Spatial sentiment words included the lexicon have information about sentiment polarity and probability score. The spatial sentiment lexicon constructed in this study consists of 3 tables(SSLex_SS, SSLex_single, SSLex_combi) that include 219 spatial sentiment words. Throughout this study, the sentiment analysis has conducted based on the texts written about the theme parks created on Twitter. As the accuracy of the sentiment classification was calculated as 0.714, the validity of the lexicon was verified.
Probabilistic design methods have been used as a design standard in Korea and abroad for achieving reasonable design by considering the statistical uncertainties of soil properties. In this study, the following techniques for reflecting geotechnical uncertainty are analyzed: quantification of the uncertainties of geotechnical random variables, and consideration of economic feasibility in design by minimizing the uncertainties related to the number of samples. To quantify the uncertainties, the techniques were applied to soil properties obtained from samples collected and tested in the field. The results showed an underestimation of the standard deviation by the 3-sigma approach in comparison with calculations using data from the samples. This finding indicates that economical design is possible in terms of probability. However, when compared with the Bayesian approach, which does not consider the number of samples, variability in the 3-sigma approach is underestimated for some variables. This finding also indicates a safety issue, whereas the number of samples based on the Bayesian approach showed the lowest variance. The variance of the probability density function showed a marked decrease with increasing number of samples, to converge at a certain level when the number exceeds 25. Of note, the estimation of values is more reliable for random variables having low variability, such as soil unit weight, and can be obtained with a small number of samples.

This paper defines the probability models for determining the disparity map given stereo images and derives the methods for solving the problem, which is proven to be equivalent to an energy-based stereo matching. Under the assumptions the difference between the pixel on the left image and the corresponding pixel on the right image and the difference between the disparities of the neighboring pixels are exponentially distributed, a recursive approach for estimating the MRF regularizing parameter is proposed. Usually energy-based stereo matching methods are so sensitive to the parameter that it should be carefully determined. The proposed method alternates between estimating the parameter with the intermediate disparity map and estimating the disparity map with the estimated parameter, after computing it with random initial parameter. It is shown that the parameter estimated by the proposed method converges to the optimum and its performance can be improved significantly by adjusting the parameter and modifying the energy term.
Aids to navigation, which provide information about a ship's position, direction, and the location of obstacles, are crucial for uninterrupted maritime services. This study aimed to analyze accidents involving aids to navigation that resulted in service disruptions and identify the key factors associated with these accidents. Aids to navigation accident data from 2000 to 2022 were utilized to achieve this. We categorized accidents by accident type, cause, region, season, and type of navigation aid and established a network through correlation analysis. Bayesian networks based on aids to navigation accidents were assigned prior probabilities, and the factors that increased the probability of accidents for different types of aids to navigation were identified. The findings can be used to infer the causes of unreported aids to navigation accidents and serve as foundational data for the prevention of such accidents.
Background: No studies have reported on the effects of loess beddings on insomnia patients. Purpose: It studied the change in quality of life and quality of sleep after having 15 insomnia subjects use the bedding that emits far-infrared rays. Methods: After using loess bedding for the test group and general yellow bedding for the control group, the study was conducted in the form of a questionnaire on the WHO quality of life of the subjects. Results: In the overall quality of life evaluation, the pre-and post-changes significantly improved in the test group. Using loess bedding was greatly enhanced the physical change, the actual sleep time, and the quality of sleep of the test group. The period of sleep was significantly longer post-treating, and the habitual sleep efficiency was considerably higher, and sleep disturbance was significantly lower than before in the test group. Sleep drug use and daytime dysfunction after treating in the test group significantly improved the sleep effect. Changes in the Sociality Scale, Environmental Change Scale, and Quality of Life Scale significantly improved in the test group. The quality of life for 14 items in the test group was significantly correlated. Daytime drowsiness, depression, and anxiety scale changes were significantly improved in the test group. According to the predictive survey, the subjects felt warmth in their body and comfort in mind during and after using loess bedding and evaluated that sleep quality was good. Conclusions: The overall quality of life in the test group increased using loess bedding.
This paper concerns continuous density HMM topology optimization. There have been several researches for HMM topology optimization. BIC (Bayesian Information Criterion) is one of the well known optimization criteria, which assumes statistically well behaved homogeneous model parameters. HMMs, however, are composed of several different kind of parameters to accommodate complex topology, thus BIC's assumption does not hold true for HMMs. Even though BIC reduced the total number of parameters of HMMs, it could not improve the recognition rates. In this paper, we proposed two new model selection criteria, HBIC (HMM-oriented BIC) and BIC_Anti. The former is proposed to improve BIC by estimating model priors separately. The latter is to combine BIC and anti-likelihood to accelerate discrimination power of HMMs. We performed some comparative research on couple of model selection criteria for online handwriting data recognition. We got better recognition results with fewer number of parameters.

In this study, the algorithm for priority area of forest fire surveillance was developed to enhance the effectiveness of fire detection. The high priority surveillance area for forest fire detection was defined as the area with not only low value of viewshed analysis of the lookouts and detection cameras but also high fire occurrence probability. To build the priority map, fuzzy function and map algebra were used. The analysis results of Bonghwa-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, showed that the surveillance priority of central and southern area is higher than north area. This algorithm could be used in the allocation of fire prevention resources and selection of suitable point for new fire detection system.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the critical strengthening ratio of concrete railroad bridge strengthened with NSM using CFRP plate. The railroad bridge is usually under vibration and impact in service state. Therefore, it is important that the effective strengthening performance must be exhibited under the service loading is acted. To widely apply the NSM method for the concrete railroad bridge in field, it needs that reasonable strengthening parameter such as strengthening ratio has to be investigated and evaluated when the strengthening design is conducted. In this study, to suggest more reasonable strengthening ratio, material and geometrical uncertainty was considered and applied by Monte Carlo Simulation (MSC) technique. Lastly, the critical strengthening ratio of concrete railroad bridge strengthened with NSM using CFRP plate was evaluated by using the limit state function with the target reliability index.

The cost for maintenance of bridge structures such as repair or reinforcement is increasing. In addition, the efforts for inspection of bridge structures is becoming more important since the proper repair or reinforcement should be performed to save the maintenance cost and ensure the safety for public infrastructure. Therefore, it is studied on this paper to estimate the repair or reinforcement cycles using probabilistic approach for the steel-box girders of bridge superstructure. In addition, a computer simulation program is uniquely developed based on probabilistic approach to calculate the cycles derived from the function of age of bridge and performance rating curve which were previously studied. In order to ensure the reliability of results and appropriateness of the model, statistical analyses were performed. Also, the results were compared and proved to be similar with ones from previous statistical data related to the repair or reinforcement cycles. The results from this study is expected to be useful for the determination of proper time to repair or reinforce the bridge structure and raise the safetyness of bridge structure in advance.

In this paper, an adaptive Bayesian approach to image segmentation was developed for boundary detection. Both image intensities and texture information were used for obtaining better quality of the image segmentation by using the C programming language. Fuzzy c-mean clustering was applied fer the conditional probability density function, and Gibbs random field model was used for the prior probability density function. To simply test the algorithm, a synthetic image (256$\times$256) with a set of low gray values (50, 100, 150 and 200) was created and normalized between 0 and 1 n double precision. Results have been presented that demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm in segmenting the synthetic image, resulting in more than 99% accuracy when noise characteristics are correctly modeled. The algorithm was applied to the Antarctic mosaic that was generated using 1963 Declassified Intelligence Satellite Photographs. The accuracy of the resulting vector map was estimated about 300-m.
