이 연구는 도시공간의 어메니티를 실현하기 위한 수단으로서 사운드스케이프(soundscape)에 관한 연구조사의 결과를 소개한다. 사운드스케이프 및 사운드스케이프 디자인에 관한 개념과 사상을 고찰하고, 남원시의 사운드스케이프 조사를 예로 하여 지역에 있어서 음, 인간 및 환경과의 관계로부터 사운드 어메니티(sound amenity)를 실현하는데 있어서 음이 갖는 의미와 역할을 모색한다. 사운드스케이프 조사방법으로써 문헌조사, 필드조사 및 설문조사를 이용하여 남원지역의 음풍경을 조사${\cdot}$분석하고, 그 시대적, 계절적, 시간적인 음풍경의 변화와 현상, 그리고 지역주민의 음에 관한 인식특성을 파악한다. 조사결과, 지역에 있어서 자연환경을 보존하고 축제등의 전통적인 생활문화를 계승하는 것은 지역의 사운드스케이프와 어메니티 형성에 중요한 역할을 한다는 점을 알 수 있었다. 또한 도시공간의 사운드스케이프 연구는 이러한 일련의 조사연구활동 및 교육활동 등을 포함한 다양한 활동과 여러 영역에서의 유기적인 교류활동이 이루어져야 쾌적한 음환경 창조가 가능하다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다.

The aim of this study is to find out directions for development of soundscape design for creating a unique sound culture in a region, and to search for the practical strategies toward a soundscape design movement in Korea. For these specific aims, several components in soundscape through considering from original conception and ideology of soundscape, such as the concept of soundscape, the meaning of soundscape design, the categories of soundscape researh : keynote sounds, sound signals, and soundmarks, and the primary problems and strategies in the world soundscape project(WSP) are investigated. The result shows that it is necessary to practice several ways in our housing life, that is, the recovery of our coenesthesia, development of the residential environments considering the soundscape, revitalization of community consciousness, rehabilitation of the sensibility, and identity excavation of sound culture, and it is very important to spread out a plan for integrating the following four categories of strategies : conceptual, educational, political, and social.

사운드스케이프(soundscape)는 소리를 통해 문화와 환경, 사회적 변화를 이해하는데 중요한 역할을 하는 자료이지만, 자료의 기록, 보존, 분류, 분석을 위한 체계적인 연구 프레임워크의 구축은 아직 초기 단계에 있다. 토픽 모델링(topic modeling)은 문서에 숨겨져 있는 테마 구조를 드러내주는 알고리즘으로 연구 동향 분석과 같이 대량의 문서에 내재된 주제어를 찾아내기에 적합한 기법이다. 본 연구에서는 사운드스케이프 연구 분야의 대표적 학술지인 의 논문을 토픽 모델링 기법으로 분석하여 사운드스케이프 연구 동향을 파악할 수 있는 주제어를 도출해 보고, 이를 사운드스케이프 온톨로지(Soundscape Ontology) 및 사운드 아카이브의 메타데이터 설계 시 활용할 수 있는 방안에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 이는 향후 시맨틱 웹 기술인 링크드 데이터(Linked Data) 기반의 사운드스케이프 아카이브 구축을 위한 메타데이터 설계의 기초 연구가 될 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to establish a clear-cut concept and meaning of soundscape design through an inquiry into the various literatures on the ideologies, features and domains of soundscape design. Soundscape enables us to design various relationship through a sound in that it is important for interaction, namely the relations with sound, environment and people in a region. Soundscape design is an endogenous design which is participated in a large number of people of the region, and it contains various activities such as research study, environmental preservation, creation of sound environment and sound education.

This study aims to design soundscape of a memorial space with seaside view. So far, a memorial space in seaside was mainly emphasized on the visual elements such as monumental sculptures, towers, landscape and so on. But a memorial space in seaside has particular and various sound environments comparing with other places. In that sense, there are many rooms to improve soundscape of the space by adding suitable sounds or by subtracting unsuitable sounds to a memorial space

The word "soundscape" proposed by Canadian composer R. Murray Schafer is now became very popular. So various soundscape design based on soundscape idea are carried on worldwide for acoustic ecology. Also in Korea, several soundscape design were made for the public spaces such as river, park and bridge but, basic concept behind soundscape design was not reflected and studied sufficiently. In that sense, this study aims to arrange the concept of soundscape design process and to review the design proposals of Gwangju River. In this process, the reproduction concept of soundscape, natural sound, light with sound, cultural and historical sound and etc. were classified and the final design was proposed to recover the natural environment and harmonize the sound with surroundings as creative soundscape.

The method of promoing sound surroundings with the new concept named 'Soundscape' attracts the public attention. This new method is the way of active promoting acoustic surroundings to offer the vitality, comfort and identity of urban space and relative quietness by masking the noise with natural and signal sounds. Therefore, this research has the purpose of finding out the method of soundscape concept of urban public space for the comfort acoustic surroundings.
