Design of the Web based Mini-PACS (웹(Web)을 기반으로 한 Mini-PACS의 설계)

  • PACS mostly has been used in large scaled hospital due to expensive initial cost to set up the system. The network of PACS is independent of the others: network. The user's PC has to be connected physically to the network of PACS as well as the image viewer has to be installed. The web based mini-PACS can store, manage and search inexpensively a large quantity of radiologic image acquired in a hospital. The certificated user can search and diagnose the radiologic image using web browser anywhere Internet connected. The implemented Image viewer is a viewer to diagnose the radiologic image. Which support the DICOM standard and was implemented to use JAVA programming technology. The JAVA program language is cross-platform which makes easier upgrade the system than others. The image filter was added to the viewer so as to diagnose the radiologic image in detail. In order to access to the database, the user activates his web browser to specify the URL of the web based PACS. Thus, The invoked PERL script generates an HTML file, which displays a query form with two fields: Patient name and Patient ID. The user fills out the form and submits his request via the PERL script that enters the search into the relational database to determine the patient who is corresponding to the input criteria. The user selects a patient and obtains a display list of the patient's personal study and images.

  • Recently the wireless LAN system is substituting wired LAN system notably as the number of mobile users increases greatly along the advancement of technology. But the wireless LAN has a critical weakness in the security such as data leakage. Thus a safe security system is imperative to avoid threatening from hackers with offering the best convenience to inner users. In this research, we have developed a RADIUS wireless LAN security system for industrial applications, which performs the EAP authentication with the compatibility for any maker of wireless LAN. The system has interfaces based on WEB, providing DB access function for user management so that users can perform authentication of 802.1x in their computers.

  • The current software development type is based on CBD (Component Based Development). However, it requires a new component model that can support rapid and accurate component information on the web due to the cost increase of building new components using CBD. The purposed of this paper is to promptly develop an application on the web which fulfills users' demand and to provide specific interface regarding the small scales of distributed component in business domains. The e-BCOS(e-Business Component System) is the agent system for the users to register distributed components and to search component information, which would increase reusability through the e-business component development of distributed components in business domains and help the users understand the information about the component. Moreover, XML is employed for specification which allows smooth specification sharing and delivery to satisfy users' variable demands.

  • While the method of information collection and visual interface technique have been researched actively on web information retrieval, a study on structured modeling for effective classification of a wide collective information leaves to be desired. In this paper, we represent information feature based on structured information model. It aims at carrying out effectively the user's retrieval environment through visualization technique with analyzing the information feature. We propose a information classification method using Facet units and we construct the object model, table model, SQL code to define the relation of the information, and represent the information feature based on a wide range of views. After users gain a better global understanding of the information feature, retrieve more easily through their information. Conventional information retrieval is user-oriented to be what user want, but proposed technique it data-oriented which helps users to understand what exist in database by showing information feature.

  • Recently, interest in HCI has increased domestically among the workers in the Internet business as Internet has entered into its maturing stage in which the focus has been moved from quantitative expansion of web sites to qualitative improvement. However, answering questions like "how HCI can optimize user experience, generally accepted as the ultimate goal of Internet service" seem still difficult to achieve, because the theories and research methodology of HCI has not been well informed to the Internet-related workers. For HCI to set ground in the actual business sector, its value should be translated into financial terms and the top management should be persuaded to support it. This paper deals with what benefits HCI can give to the Internet companies, how HCI can help user interface design with its research findings, what kind of research method can be applied in the business sector with actual examples.

Developing Forest Fire Status Information Management System using Web GIS Technology (웹 지리정보시스템 기술을 이용한 산불 현황정보 관리시스템 개발)

  • In this paper forest fire status information management system was developed under web environment using web GIS(geographic information system) technology. Though this system, general users can easily retrieval domestic forest fire status information and obtain that in visual way such as maps, graphs, and texts if they have only certain web browsers. Moreover, officials, who have system access authority, can easily control and manage all domestic forest fire status information through input interface, retrieval interface, and out interface of the system. This system can be considered as the first domestic system to manage forest fire status data and service them in visual through user friendly interfaces on web. In order to implement this system, IIS 5.0 of Microsoft is used as web server and Oracle 8i and ASP(active server page) are used for database construction and dynamic web page operation, respectively. Also, ArcGIS IMS(internet map server) of ESRI is used to serve maps by using Java and HTML as system development languages. Not only the domestic tendency of forest fire but also the forest fire status information of certain area and time such as the frequency and the loss can be presented through distribution maps, graphs and tables. Therefore, this system is supposed to play as a important role when the policy relate to domestic forest fire is established. In addition, the self consciousness of people against forest fire can be inspired and the foundation of scientific and systemic forest fire services can be obtained through this system in the future.

  • As the technology realizing digital multimedia has been developing remarkably based on Internet environment, today we can gain various information we need quickly and easily without regard to time or place by using world wide web. The recent spread of digital animation as a way of communication on Internet has been forming a new communication paradigm according to the development of age. Besides, digital animations embodied on web are a kind of communication medium which is expressed through interactions using different digital multimedia tools and put the concepts of time and space together. This is a form which can cope with various forms of information, and it occupies a high rate on web and is used often. Web animations offer various forms of communication, such as interface structure design for information transfer, characters, typography, and other graphic elements, which make users feel maximized real dynamics. This paper analyzes and evaluates the categories according to the characteristics, information and usage types of digital animations used on web, examines more efficient communication expressions based on them, and pays attention to the Internet environment that will develop and change in the future. With regard to it, this research aims at suggesting a useful theory so that diverse digital animations on web based on Internet environment would develop into a new communication paradigm responding to the change of time.

A Web-based System for Real-time Monitoring of Dangerous Objects using RFID (RFID를 이용한 웹 기반의 실시간 위험물 모니터링 시스템 구축 사례)

  • Recently in the human society, the crime using small arms has increased. Also, many accidents happen because of incomplete management of chemicals and radiation. Accordingly, it is necessary to manage dangerous objects by tracing the position of dangerous objects and rapidly providing the correct information for them. This paper presents a web-based system for real-time monitoring of dangerous objects using RFID in order to overcome the limitations and problems of current dangerous objects management techniques. In this paper, we define the architecture for web-based dangerous objects monitoring system and the scheme for storing information of a dangerous object in the RFID tag. We also implement the web-based monitoring system and present the execution result of the system. The proposed real-time monitoring system is composed of the dangerous objects monitoring server which manages information of dangerous objects and controls them, the dangerous objects monitoring middleware which is mediator between dangerous objects and the server, the RFID reader which reads information of dangerous objects from RFID tags attached to the objects and the database which stores information, status and position of dangerous object. The proposed system manages diverse dangerous objects such as small arms, radiation and harmful chemicals based on the position of them using RFID, so the user can check dangerous objects when they are checked in and checked out and the user can acquire the real-time position information of them through the system. Furthermore, the user can visually monitor dangerous objects through web browser from any where and at any time because the system is web-based system and it provides graphical user interface.

  • While the existing Web focuses on the interface with human users based on HTML, the next generation Web will focus on the interaction among software agents by using XML and XML-based standards and technologies. The inference engine, which will serve as brains of software agents in the next generation Web, should thoroughly understand the Semantic Web, the standard language of the next generation Web. As abasis for the service, the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) has recommended SWRL (Semantic Web Rule Language) which had been made by compounding OWL (Web Ontology Language) and RuleML (Rule Markup Language). In this research, we develop a backward chaining inference engine SMART-B (SeMantic web Agent Reasoning Tools -Backward chaining inference engine), which uses SWRL and OWL to represent rules and facts respectively. We analyze the requirements for the SWRL-based backward chaining inference and design analgorithm for the backward chaining inference which reflects the traditional backward chaining inference algorithm and the requirements of the next generation Semantic Web. We also implement the backward chaining inference engine and the administrative tools for fact and rule bases into Java components to insure the independence and portability among different platforms under the environment of Ubiquitous Computing.

  • Recently varieties of user groups are formed as the number of people using cyber chatting gets increased and there are many changes in the range and field of its use. But because most of the cyber chatting systems are being operated to enlarge the additional sonics use, the using environments are stereotyped. And as its function is being various as well, it can not provide with a user-centered environment. So this thesis compares and analyzes the problems derived from the usability evaluation for solving the problems in using cyber chatting systems, and presents the guidelines of emotion-intended user interface design for improving the usability as the result of the analysis. First, this study investigates cyber chatting systems as a means of web communication tools through the existing literatures. Secondly, this study finds out the problems in using them through satisfaction evaluation, heuristic evaluation, performance evaluation, and observation evaluation and presents a way of solving the provisional problems in using them as the analysis of the result of usability evaluation. And this was proceeded for the purpose of applying and activating the better usability evaluation of cyber chatting systems later. Through the usability evaluation, it is found out that the structuralization of chatting function, the screen visibility by the size and arrangement of the compositional elements of a screen, and the improvement and development of the proper metaphor use of images and functions by the communication environment are necessary.
