This study believed that records could help 'strengthen identity' and that job archives could help provide pride and identity in one's job by preserving the history and culture of it. This study investigated whether building a librarian archive could help preserve records related to librarians, share experiences and knowledge among librarians, and confirm the history and identity of oneself and the group. In-depth interviews were conducted with librarians to examine what records should be included and what records could help strengthen the librarian's identity. As a result of the interview, various records related to the work of librarians were identified, and records related to the history of librarians were also confirmed. It was found that historical events related to librarians and library services provided by previous generations of librarians will help strengthen the identity of librarians. Thus, the Librarian Archive can help librarians reflect on themselves as librarians and decide on their own direction. This study presented a plan to build a librarian archive as a participatory archive through cooperation between institutions and communities. In this study, it was expected that through building a librarian archive, it would be possible to strengthen the professional identity of librarians, share the history of librarians, create a collective intelligence platform, efficiently process work, and improve the social status of libraries and librarians.

The purpose of this study is to find a better way for placement of teacher librarians. So, the literature research is applied for the study. It is unreasonable to arrange one school librarian staff per 1,500 students, based on the criteria of the total number of personnel including that of teacher librarians and practice teachers and librarian, in accordance with the existing enforcement decree of Article 7. In fact, this clause, linked to other related regulations, makes it difficult to place teacher librarians. And the quota of teacher librarians is noticeably low as compared with that of other teachers who are not-teaching the subject matter. This operates disadvantageously to teacher librarians when it comes to assigning quota in secondary teacher selection test and the accumulation of this phenomenon gradually worsens the current situation. The roles of teacher librarians and librarians should be defined separately when amending the Enforcement Decree of School Libraries Promotion. And we should also take into consideration that the number of students per school is around 500. Therefore, Enforcement Decree of School Libraries Promotion Act should be revised toward placing teacher librarians depending on the size and number of schools. Predictability should be secured in teacher librarians selection test. In addition, flexibility should be granted to the training institute so that many people can prepare the teacher librarians qualification. Finally, it is necessary to increase the teacher librarian capacity for private schools. This study will be the basis of the theoretical foundation for stable teacher librarian placement.

<이 글은 College & Research Libraries 지에 금년 1월호에 실린 Professionalism Reconsidered의 전역이다. 필자인 Dr. Mary Lee Bundy와 Dr. Mary Lee Bundy와 Dr. Paul Wasserman은 School of Library and Information Services, University of Maryland의 교수이다.> 본고에서는 전문직으로서의 사서직 문제를 사서가 갖게 되는 세 가지 기본적인 관계, 즉 고객과의 관계, 소속기관과의 관계 및 전문직단체와의 관계에 입각하여 검토해 보았다. 그래서 사서직이 갖는 성격 중에서 전문성을 인정할만하다고 생각되는 여러 요소를 이미 확립된 전문직들이 갖는 전ㅁ누성의 표준에다 견주어 보았다. 이 비교의 결가 사서직은 아직 전문직의 유형에 속하기에는 먼 거리를 유지하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 사서직이 전문직으로 발전하려면 사서가 현재 행하고 있는 봉사의 성격과 사서를 얽어메고 있는 여러 가지 관료적인 관계에 대한 변화가 와야 한다. 본고에서는 도한 전문직단체와 도서관학교가 사서직의 전문화과정에 끼친 공헌도를 분석해 보았다. 이 분야의 발전도는 사서직이 참다운 전문직의 칭호를 마침내 얻을 수 있을 것이냐 그렇지 못할 것이냐의 관건이 된다.

The purpose of this study is to practice the library tour program for pre-librarians, to analyze the impact of the library tour program for pre-librarians on librarian job's perception, and to present the educational meaning of library tour program for pre-librarians to the library & information science academies, the librarians in charge of the library tour, and pre-librarians. For doing this, the 29 pre-librarians participated in a library tour are surveyed by the questionnaires before and after library tour program. As a result, it's revealed that the library tour program for pre-librarians is proved to be the educational effects that it establishes the per-librarians' attitudes for librarian job performance. It's meaningful that this study presents the education effects of library tour program to the librarians in charge of library tour program and the pre-librarians.

Information Technology is making a lot of changes in the library. Especially the library computerization made the business of librarians convenient and made an impact in outsourcing and job reduction. The number of library users is decreasing because they can find information easily in the internet instead of library. But librarians are suspended in traditional business; they are not carrying out new role in changed environment. So, their identity is shaken. If a job does not have their identity, the job can not but disappears. This paper wished to find the identity of librarians in digital environment. For research the author examined literatures about new role of librarians and compared with librarian's opinions. To collect librarian's opinions, the author took e-mail survey to librarians who are working more than 20 years at libraries. Questionnaire consists of open-ended question. As a result, librarians are feeling their professional rewarding in public service. But they do not have much opportunity to service as professional. In some case librarians have opportunity to secure their expert area in reading education, information literacy and computer program teaching. This means the information education and medium education. The information education means to and necessary information. The medium education means to approach at information. The ability that can utilize information and medium is very important in lifelong learning society. Librarians can achieve the role of information and medium education. Librarians can find their identity in information and medium education which make users as intellectual person.

The purpose of this study was to examine the current staffing practices in public libraries and to analyze the relevance of legal standards of public library staffing. It analyzed the national library statistical data to obtain the national average staffing rate, reviewed related literature to understand the rationales that established the key attributes that construct the current legal standards, and compared the placement rates of the three standards, namely the current legal standards, Korean Library Association's standards, and IFLA staffing standards, to determine the optimacy of the legal standards. It found the current placement rate in the legal standard was only 18.2%, marking the lowest rates among the three compared standards, indicating the current legal standards being unnecessarily high. The study attributes the problem to the structure of the current legal standards that calculate the staffing size based on the building and collection size rather than service populations. The findings of this study suggest a revision of the current standard based on service population while retaining the minimum staffing of three librarians even the smallest public library unit.

대학도서관 사서는 이용자에게 신속한 지식정보를 제공하고 변화하는 교육환경에 신속하게 적용하고 정보욕구를 충족시키고 조직을 발전시키기 위하여 도서관의 기본요소 항목인 사서확보와 장서확충 및 예산과 시설이 잘 갖추어 지도록 노려해야 할 것이다. 그 중에서 대학도서관이 가지는 다양한 기능과 목표를 달성하기 위해서는 도서관에 근무하는 사서의 역할이 중요하다. 왜냐하면 사서의 직무수행이 이용자에 대한 정보서비스의 품질과 밀접하기 때문이다. 특히 전문대학은 설립기관이나 교육목표에 따라 차이는 있을 수 있지만 전문인력을 양성하는 기관으로 인식되는 것은 같다. 하지만 4년제 대학에 비하여 봉사대상은 비슷한 수준임에도 불구하고 상대적으로 기준, 시설, 예산면에서 열악한 전문대학 사서의 현실과 현황을 비교해 보고 사서 구성원을 검토함으로써 전문대학만이 가지는 문제점을 파악하고 전문대학 도서관 사서도 전문직으로서 자부심을 가짐으로써 열악한 전문대학 현실에 대응할 수 있는 대처방안을 모색해 보고자 한다.

이 연구는 공공도서관 사서의 정보활용능력 수준에 대한 자기인식과 실제 평가를 통해 Big6모형을 기반으로 하여 공공도서관 사서의 정보활용능력 수준실태를 78명의 사서를 대상으로 실험하였다. 연구 결과, 정보요구 영역은 높게, 정보평가 영역에 대해서는 다른 영역보다 낮게 나타났지만 모든 영역에 대해서 평균이상으로 조사되어 사서들의 정보활용교육 필요성을 파악할 수 있었다. 특히 정보활용교육 경험여부에 대한 두 집단간의 차이는 정보이용 영역을 제외하고는 통계적으로 유의미하지 않음을 알 수 있었다.

문헌정보학 전공자에게 있어 취업의 꽃은 대학도서관 사서로의 진출이 아닐까 싶다. 왜냐하면 대학 도서관은 다른 관종의 도서관에 비해 외형적으로 규모가 크고, 업무는 다양할 뿐만 아니라 영역별로 전문화되어 있어 다양한 경험을 쌓을 수 있는 장점이 있다. 게다가 근무시간이나 급여, 복지 등과 같은 근무조건 및 환경 역시 타 관종에 비하여 비교적 우위에 있다고 하겠다. 때문에 전공자들 사이에는 기회가 된다면 누구나 대학도서관 사서로의 꿈을 꾸는 것이다. 하지만 최근 대학을 둘러싼 내외적인 상황이 그리 만만하지가 않다. 대학 외적으로는 대학 간 무한경쟁 체제의 확산 및 심화, 입학자원의 절대적 감소, 정부 및 각종 기관의 지원시 엄격한 평가 적용 등의 영향과 내적으로는 대학내 도서관 위상의 점진적 약화, 사서적인 수의 감소, 사서직에 대한 전통적 인식 약화로 인한 입지 위협 등으로 인하여 대하교직원 채용에 있어 도서관 사서는 대개 후순위이거나 고려대상에서 점점 더 멀어지고 있는 실정이다. 또한 최근에는 긍적적 측면과 부정적 측면이 상존하는 사서직원의 본부부서 이동 역시 늘어나고 있다고 하겠다. 한편 1987년 사서자격증 발급자가 2,000여명을 돌파한 이래 최근에는 매년 2,400여명 내외의 자격증 소지자를 배출하고 있는데, 본 글은 이 정도의 공급에 미루어 볼 때 전체 관종 대비 대학도서관 사서의 모집현황은 어느 정도인지? <사서e마을> 정규직, 비정규직 코너에 2007~2010년간 게재된 모집 공고 중심으로 월별, 지역별, 대학 설립주체별 현황 분석 및 전망을 해보고자 한다.
