  • 본 연구에서는 구면파를 가정한 빔형성 방법의 분해능을 실제 물리적인 현상에서 일어나는 스므딩 현상과 일치하도록 조정하여 이를 평판의 방사음장의 경우에 적용하여 보고자 한다. 물리적인 스므딩 현상은 음파의 파장을 기준으로 일어나므로 빔형성 파워의 분해능 역시 음파의 파장과 관련지어 생각할 수 있을 것이다.

  • 지금까지 수중음향 시스템에서 jammer 신호를 제거하는 방법에 관한 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 그러나, 기존의 빔형성 기법은 간섭 신호원(interference source)이 움직일 경우 그 성능이 현저히 떨어지는 문제점을 갖고 있다. 이러한 현상은 수중 음향 시스템이 간섭 신호원의 움직임에 대하여 즉각적으로 null의 위치를 변화시키지 못하기 때문에 발생하게 된다. 이를 해결하기 위해서는 시간에 따라 위치가 변하는 jammer 환경에 대하여 대응할 수 있는 새로운 알고리즘이 필요하게 된다. 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위해 본 논문에서는 가변 망각인자를 갖는 적응 빔형성 기법을 제안하고, 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통하여 제안된 알고리즘이 기존의 적응 빔형성 기법에 비하여 출력 SINR(signal to interference plus noise ratio)의 측면에서 성능 향상을 가짐을 보였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 지연-가중-합 빔형성 방법이 적용된 지향성 헤드폰의 마이크로폰 배치 설계를 설명한다. 마이크로폰의 갯수, 마이크로폰 간의 간격 등이 헤드폰 지향성에 영향을 미치는 설계 변수가 된다. 본 논문에서는 현실성을 고려하여 4개 이하의 마이크로폰을 포함한 10cm 길이의 배열을 타겟으로 한다. 전방으로부터의 소리를 증폭하고 후방으로부터의 소리를 감쇠하여, 전-후방 음압차를 최대화하는 것을 목표로 하였다. 구형 머리전달 함수를 이용한 시뮬레이션을 통해 최적의 마이크로폰 배치를 결정하였다. 설계된 헤드폰은 3개의 마이크로폰을 이용하여 300~3000Hz의 주파수 대역에서 평균 34.6dB의 전-후방 음압차를 보였다. 이 결과는 선행 연구에서 수행된 지연-합 빔형성 방법을 이용한 결과에 비해 8.8dB 뛰어난 성능이다.

Simplified Near Optimal Downlink Beamforming Schemes in Multi-Cell Environment (다중 셀 환경에서 적은 복잡도를 갖는 준 최적 하향 빔형성)

  • Despite enormous performance gain with multi-antenna transmission in the single cell environment, its gain diminishes out in the multi-cell environment due to interference. It is also very hard to solve the efficient downlink beamforming with low complexity in multi-cell environment. First, this paper shows that the asymptotically sum rate optimal downlink beamformings at low and high SNR are maximum ratio transmit (MRT) and zero forcing (ZF) beamforming in the multi-cell system, respectively. Secondly, exploiting the asymptotically optimal downlink beamforming, we develop simple two types of near optimal downlink beamforming schemes having the form of minimum mean squared error (MMSE) beamforming obtained from the dual uplink problem. For each type, three different subclasses are also considered depending on the computational complexity. The simulation results show that the proposed near optimum algorithms provide the trade-off between the complexity and the performance.

Modified Genetic Algorithm for Fast Beam Formation in Wireless Network (무선 메쉬 네트워크 환경에서 빠른 빔형성을 위한 개선된 유전알고리즘)

  • This paper proposes a modified genetic algorithm that has the same beamforming performance and a fast convergence speed using general genetic algorithm in order to form a beam for the mobile node in a mesh network. The proposed beamforming genetic algorithm selects a part of chromosome a high fitness value in mating process to obtain fast convergence speed, and rest part of chromosome with longer fitness value in order to avoid local solution. Furthermore, the reference beam pattern with Gaussian shape reduces additional convergence speed. Simulation shows that the convergence speed of proposed algorithm improves 20% compared with that of conventional beamforming genetic algorithm.

  • In this paper, we present a performance analysis of the smart antenna test-bed operating in a IS2000 1x through a test-bed that has been implemented on a DSP(TMS320C6711) board. The test-bed consists of a PC (for generating the RX data), beam-former(i.e., a stand-alone PCB for weight computation), and an interfacing module. The performance improvements compared to a normal base station system consisting of a single antenna are shown in terms the BER(bit error rate) in the wide-band CDMA channel.

  • An adaptive hybrid beamformer is proposed to improve the reception performance of the advanced television system committee (ATSC) digital television (DTV) in a mobile environment. Dynamic multipaths and Doppler shifts severely degrade the reception performance of the ATSC DTV receiver. Accordingly, a hybrid beamformer, called a Capon and least mean square (CLMS) beamformer, is presented that uses direction of arrival (DOA) information and the least mean square (LMS) beamforming algorithm. The proposed CLMS algerian efficiently removes dynamic multipaths and compensates for the phase distortion caused by Doppler shifts in mobile receivers. After the CLMS beamformer is operated, the subsequent use of an equalizer removes any residual multipath effects, thereby significantly improving the performance of DTV receivers. The performances of the proposed CLMS, Capon, and LMS beamformersare compared based on computer simulations. In addition, the overall performance of the CLMS beamformer followed by an equalizer is also considered.

  • Random beamforming (RBF) uses the signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) feedback to select users in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. A large number of users are required to obtain the gain of multi-user diversity for a downlink transmission. However, if the number is not large enough, it may be difficult to obtain multi-user diversity, leading to a rapid degradation in performance. To resolve this problem, we propose the beamforming matrix transformation and the user scheduling method. The beamforming matrix transformation scheme uses the SINRs of each users and have a better performance than conventional schemes over a small number of users. In addition, we propose the user scheduling scheme corresponding to the beamforming matrix transformation. In simulation results, we demonstrate that the sum-rate can be improved according to the number of users.

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive coordinated Tx-Rx beamforming scheme for inter-user interference cancellation, when a BS communicates with multiple users that each has multiple receive antenna. The conventional coordinated Tx-Rx beamforming scheme uses a fixed multi-stream per user regardless of the instantaneous channel states, that is, both user with ill-conditioned and well-conditioned channels have the same number of data streams. However, in the proposed adaptive coordinated Tx-Rx beamforming scheme, we select the number of streams per user to solve the inefficient problem of the conventional coordinated Tx-Rx beamforming. As a result of applying the adaptive coordinated Tx-Rx beamforming scheme, the BER performance is improved. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional coordinated Tx-Rx beamforming algorithm by 2.5dB at a target BER of $10^{-2}$.

  • This paper proposes a power allocation method for multiple node beamforming with uniform circular array antennas to increase SIR of nodes in wireless mesh network. The proposed method calculates beamforming power allocation vectors that maximizes SIR satisfied with power constraint of HPA. The simulation results demonstrate the proposed method achieves the enhanced SIR of nodes than that of beamforming method.
