Robust Tracking Control of a Ball and Beam System using Optimal Bang-Bang Input (최적의 Bang-Bang 입력을 이용한 볼-빔 시스템의 강인한 추적 제어)

  • In this paper, we apply the input-output linearization technique to tracking the follow-up trajectory r(t) in the ball-beam system. There exist system disturbance and various uncertainties, the conventional input-output linearization based control yields some noticeable errors in tracking performance. As a result, a new robust control technique for the uncertainty of the system was proposed and its improved performance verified through simulation and experimental results. So, more realistic system model is obtained with unmatched uncertainties and disturbance. Then, in order to improve the control performance, a new optimal bang-bang control input is additionally added.

  • It will be very convenient if the directivity characteristics of ultrasonic transducer array are controllable by the purpose of use in the fields of sonar system or ultrasonic diagnostic system, In this paper, a control method of the directivity characteristics was suggested. The transducer array was consisted of two-layered piezoelectric vibrators. Efficiency of each vibrator is controlled in 2nd harmonic mode by electrical capacitance. Therefore, the beam width of the transducer array can be controlled by changing the capacitance. The directivity characteristics of the array were analyzed experimentally and theoretically. As the results, it is confirmed that -3 dB beam width of main lobe can be controlled in the range of 7.6°∼16.2°.

  • This study proposed the possibility of the medical cure by thermal feedback as the laser medical treatment had given and by the development of digital I/O interfaces of the electronic shutter to control the laser beam and of the temperature controlled algorithm. The development of the electronic shutter driving such interfaces and its controlled algorithm was designed to be automatically controlled within the range of an extent temperture.

  • 광 디스크 드라이브에서의 서보 제어시스템에는 광 픽업에서 발생된 레이저 빔을 디스크 기록면의 데이터 트랙에 정확히 위치시키기 위한 제어 계를 갖고 있다. 광 디스크의 고배속화에 따른 외란의 주파수 대역의 증가에 따라 더욱 더 높은 샘플링 주파수로 레이저 빔의 위치 제어를 필요로 하게 되고, 여러 가지 알고리즘의 증가로 인해 DSP의 연산 부담은 증가하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 서보 제어에 필요한 알고리즘의 최적화된 하드웨어/소프트웨어 시스템을 구현하고 이를 이용한 실험 결과를 제시한다.

Feasibility Study for Removal of Red Tide by Batch Fed Electron Beam Irradiation (회분식 전자빔 조사에 의한 적조제거 특성 연구)

  • This study was carried out to assess the feasibility of the electron beam irradiation as a mean of red tide control in coastal water. Prorocentrum minimum, Prorocentrum micans, Cochlodinium polykrikoides, Heterosigma akashiwo, Alexnadrium catenella were selected and cultured for experiments, and red tide occurring in Tongyeong(2007. 8. 15) was also tested under the same conditions. The irradiation dose were 1 kGy, 2 kGy, 4 kGy and 8 kGy. The result showed 50~65% extinction in red tide cells was observed right after irradiation dose of 1 kGy and 86~97% within 1 day after irradiation, compared with control. Chlorophyll-a concentration of red tide was reduced by 50~64% immediately and it was drastically reduced up to 86~97% 1 day after irradiation. When the culture was irradiated at 1 kGy, 28~47% of s-protein was released immediately, and 77~138% was released 1day after irradiation. 77~212% of s-carbohydrate was excreted after 1 day while 16~45% of s-carbohydrate was excreted immediately. A transmission electron microscope(TEM) observation for the irradiated red tide revealed that the cell was destroyed and intracellular biopolymeric substance was leached out from the damaged cell as a result of electron beam irradiation. These results imply that electron beam irradiation is enable to control red tide by flocculation with extracellular biopolymer. The paralytic shellfish poisoning(PSP) toxin contents produced by Alexandrium catenella was decreased 48% by 1 kGy of electron beam irradiation compared with the unirradiated cells. As a result, electron beam irradiation was effective for detoxication as well as destruction of red tide.

Design of Beamforming Scheme Using Single RF Chain Based on SPA Antenna (SPA 안테나 기반 단일 RF 체인을 사용한 빔포밍 기능 구현)

  • In this paper, we design and implement SPA (Switched Parasitic Antenna) antenna which can control its beampattern using multiple parasitic elements. By applying SPA antenna to wireless communication system and implementing beamforming scheme, we show that SPA antenna can be used to improve the performance of wireless communication systems. SPA antenna consists of a single active antenna and multiple parasitic elements around the active one, and can control its beampattern by switching the parasitic elements. Using this characteristic of the SPA antenna, it is possible to impelemtent beamforming technique with single RF chain, which enables to design low cost, low complexity and low power wireless communication systems. In order to verify the beamforming gain, we measure and analyze the system level performance, such as SNR, PER, and throughput.

  • The objective of this paper is to present a method for designing robust positioning control systems of a flexible arm using mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ and $\mu$ theory. We begin with a description of the flexible arm based on the model identification method and discuss the derivation of the model uncertainty. The validity of the obtained model is confirmed experimentally. Next, a robust controller is designed based on the mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ and $\mu$ theory by which we can improve robustness of the entire system. On this occasion, we also propose a general plant formation suitable to mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ control and $\mu$-theory. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed design method is verified through experimentation.

  • 고밀도 에너지를 열원으로 이용하는 고출력 레이저로는 CO$_{2}$레이저와 Nd;YAG 레이저가 있다. 레이저는 열가공임에도 불구하고 빔의 스폿경을 작게하여 높은 에너지 밀도($10^{6}$ W/cm$_{2}$ 이상)을 얻을 수 있으므로 열영향이 작고 작은 변형범위내에서 용접을 할 수 있고 입력 에너지의 제어성이 좋아서 미세한 용접이 가능하게 하고, 빔폭 대비 용입깊이가 커서 깊은 용접 비드가 형성되며, 자동화가 용이하다는 장점이 있다. 특히 Nd;YAG 레이저의 경우는 광 섬유를 이용하므로서 에너 지의 시간 분할 및 에너지 분할을 할 수 있는 등 분기 및 배치가 용이하며 펄스의 활 용을 극대화 할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 그러나, 결점으로도 맞대기 용접의 경우 갭의 여유가 판두께, 초점위치, 빔모드에 따라 변화하는데 이는 빔 스폿이 작음에 따른 장점이 단점으로 작용하는 경우이다. 레이저 용접부의 비드 폭이 좁기 때문에 인장 강도가 모재의 인장강도보다 밑도는 것도 겹쳐서 용접된 이음 부분의 인장강도에 있 어서 단점이 되고 있다.

  • This paper presents a study on the experimental analysis of the impedance characteristics according to the rotational direction of the transmission beam of a cylindrical sensor array. Besides, this suggests a real time control technique of the transmitter output for the effective maximum power transmission, in order to drive efficiently the rotational transmission beam of the active sonar transmitter. The output characteristics of the transmitter and the real-time impedance variations of the sensor array are analyzed under the overload conditions. They are caused by electric and acoustic boundary conditions when the rotational transmission beam is operated. From these results, a new output control method of the transmitter is proposed to protect the transmitter and its loads. It can maximize the output power without the transmission pause even if the transient phenomena occur. The proposed technique is verified from the experiment.
