  • In this study, fundus images were analyzed using an image processing algorithm for diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy, and specific areas such as hard exudate and retinal hemorrhage, which are characteristic of diabetic retinopathy disease using the bit plane technique, were extracted. We propose a system capable of automatic diagnosis by quantifying the characteristics of diabetic retinopathy based on the analyzed fundus image.

Fast LDPC Decoding using Bit Plane Correlation in Wyner-Ziv Video Coding (와이너 지브 비디오 압축에서의 비트 플레인 상관관계를 이용한 고속 LDPC 복호 방법)

  • Although Wyner-Ziv (WZ) video coding proves useful for applications employing encoders having restricted computing resources, the WZ decoder has a problem of excessive decoding complexity. It is mainly due to its iterative LDPC channel decoding process which repeatedly requests incremental parity data after iterative channel decoding of parity data received at each request. In order to solve the complexity problem, we divide bit planes into two groups and estimate the minimum required number of parity requests separately for the two groups of bit planes using bit plane correlation. The WZ decoder executes the iterative decoding process only after receiving parity data corresponding to the estimated minimum number of parity requests. The proposed method saves about 71% of the computing time in the LDPC decoding process.

  • Among the compression methods of moving picture information, a motion estimation method is used to remove time-repeating. The Block Matching Algorithm in motion estimation methods is the commonest one. In recent days, it is required the more advanced high quality in many image processing fields, for example HDTV, etc. Therefore, we have to accomplish not by means of Partial Search Algorithm, but by means of Full Search Algorithm in Block Matching Algorithm. In this paper, it is suggested a structure that reduce total calculation quantity and size, because the structure using Bit Plane select and use only 3bit of 8bit luminance signal.

  • 본 논문에서는 ETRI와 연세대가 공동 개발한 AAC/MP3 복합 복호화기 ASIC 칩을 이용한 AAC/MP3 오디오 플레이어의 설계 및 구현에 대해 기술한다. 본 논문에서 사용한 AAC/MP3 복합 복호화 ASIC Chip은 20비트 고정소수점 DSP 코어를 이용하여 MP3와 MPEG-2 AAC LC 프로파일을 복호화하며, MPEG-2 AAC 메인 프로파일을 실시간으로 복호화하기 위하여 허프만 복호화 과정과 예측 과정은 전용 하드웨어 모듈을 이용하였다 이를 이용한 오디오 플레이어는 AAC/MP3 파일 재생 기능, USB를 이용한 호스트 PC와의 인터페이스 기능, Flash 메모리와의 인터페이스 기능 등의 특성을 갖는다.

Method of Lossless Image Compression Using Hybrid Bitplane Coding (비트평면 혼합 코딩을 이용한 무손실 이미지 압축방법)

  • In this paper, the lossless compression method is proposed for an 8-bit bitplane of the input image. The lower bitplanes are not well compressed because of irregularity of pixels. To overcome these drawbacks, this paper propose a mixed coding method that using the block-based lossless compression and the bit-based losselss compression, introducing the H. 264 and the JBIG. First, to take advantage of the characteristics of the bitplanes, 8-bitplane against the top 4 bits and lower 4 bits were separated. Next, the JBIG compression method was used in separated top 4-bitplane because of a lot of correlation between bits. And a separated lower 4-bitplane was applied the improved method that using the H. 264 lossless prediction. A pre-processing method applied to the lower 4-bitplane then irregular distribution of pixel values are converted to regular. Using the proposed method to test for various test images were performed. Experimental results from a printer using 8-bit image compared to JBIG average 19%, lower 4bit image compression performance with an average of 11% could be obtained.

  • This paper designs a serious game for rehabilitation of patients with body pains because they sit down for a long time in the same position, or less physical movement. Activity-based game induces to player improvements in physical exercise with fun elements of the game through entertainment to help the body function and substantially increases the player's commitment during challenging goal. This research is a game design that combines the treatment of color and movement of body to the rhythm of the music. We constructed with XNA Game Studio and KINECT interface with gesture recognition technology. We need to research of evaluation system and test for the actual effect of the treatment and advanced functions of game playes like adding various musics and variety of motion.

  • VLSI 기술의 빠른 발전으로 디지털 시스템의 동작주파수가 높아짐에 따라 고속 통신시스템 의 하드웨어 설계 시 신호 무결성을 고려한 설계가 필수적이다. 디지털시스템에서의 잡음원 은 전송선에서의 전원장치, 접지 바운스, 실장 재료 등에 관련된다. 본 연구에서는 고속네트 워크/통신시스템의 기가비트 연결 설계기술에 필요한 요소들을 언급하였고, 실제 설계 신호 불연속에 영향을 미치는 커넥터의 누화 및 전송선의 표피 효과, 유전손실 등을 고려한 백플 레인보드를 시뮬레이션 하였다.

Fractal Coding Method for Fast Encoding and High Compression (고속 및 고압축을 위한 프랙탈 영상 부호화)

  • This paper proposes a novel fractal coding method for fast encoding and high compression to shorten time to take on fractal encoding by using limited search area. First. the original image is contracted respectively by half and by quarter with the scaling method and bit-plane method. And then, the corresponding domain block of the quarter-sized image which is most similar with one range block of the half-sized image is searched within the limited area in order to reduce the encoding time extremely. As the result of the evaluation, the proposed algorithm provided much shorter encoding time and better compression ratio with a little degradation of the decoded image qualify than Jacquin's method.

  • 정보량이 많은 고화질의 동영상을 실시간으로 전송하기 위하여 압축 알고리즘을 필수적으로 사용하고 있으며, 시간적 중복성을 제거하는 동영상의 압축방법은 움직임 추정 알고리즘을 사용한다. 본 연구에서 설계하고자 하는 움직임 추정기는 블록정합 알고리즘이며, MPEG 부호기에서 사용되는 DCT 연산 결과인 DC 값을 이용하여 화면의 밝기를 판단한다. 움직임 추정기는 휘도 신호 8비트 모두를 사용하지 않고, 화면 밝기에 따른 비트 플레인(bit plane)에서 3비트만 선택하는 비교선택기를 이용한다. 본 연구에서 제안한 비교 선택기는 I-Picture만을 계산한다. I-Picture에 의해 계산된 선택 비트는 I, P와 B Picture의 움직임 추정 연산에 사용함으로서 움직임 추정기의 크기를 줄일 수 있는 구조를 제안하였다. 제안된 움직임 추정기의 고찰을 위하여 실험에 사용된 표준 동영상의 해상도는 352×288이며, DCT 연산의 처리 블록은 8×8이며, 탐색 영역은 23×23이다. 제안된 알고리즘은 C언어로 모델링하였으며, 기존 완전탐색방법과 PSNR을 비교한 결과 사람의 시각으로 거의 구별할 수 없는 작은 차이(0~0.83dB)가 나타남을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구에서 제안한 움직임 추정기의 하드웨어 크기는 기존 구조Ⅰ보다 38.3%, 기존 구조Ⅱ보다 30.7% 줄일 수 있었고, 메모리 크기는 기존 구조Ⅰ,Ⅱ보다 31.3% 줄일 수 있었다.

A Fast Wyner-Ziv Video Decoding Method Using Adaptive LDPCA Frame-based Parity Bit Request Estimation (LDPCA 프레임별 적응적 패리티 요구량 예측을 이용한 고속 위너-지브 복호화 기법)

  • Recently, many research works are focusing on DVC (Distributed Video Coding) system for low complexity encoder. Most DVC systems need feedback channel for parity bit control to achieve the good RD performances, however, this causes the system to have high decoding latency and is considered as one of the most critical problems for real implementation. In order to overcome this problem, this paper proposes an effective distributed video decoding method using adaptive LDPCA frame-based parity bit request estimation. The proposed method applies for the pixel-domain Wyner-Ziv system and exploits the statistical characteristics between adjacent LDPCA frames to estimate adaptively the parity bit request. Through computer simulations, it is shown that the proposed method achieves about 80% of latency reduction compared to the conventional no-estimation DVC system.
