Experimental Study on Reinforcement Effects of PET Sheet (PET 섬유의 보강효과에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Although the strength of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fibers which are generally used to make plastic bottles is low, the deformability of PET fibers is substantially high. Due to these material characteristics, a PET fiber can be used as a reliable strengthening material to resist a large deformation caused by earthquake and research pertinent to application of PET fibers is actively conducted in Japan. Therefore, in this study, experiments have been carried out to investigate the lateral confinement effect of PET fibers and to assess the applicability of PET fibers to construction fields by comparing the strengthening effect of PET fibers to that of carbon and glass fiber sheets. For this purpose, concrete cylinder specimens with parameters of different concrete strength and strengthening layers of carbon fiber sheets, glass fiber sheets, and PET fibers were respectively tested using two sets of cylinders for each parameter. As a result, specimens strengthened with carbon fiber sheets and glass fiber sheets failed due to sudden decrease of strength as with existing studies. However, specimens with PET fibers reached their maximum strength and then failed after gradual decrease strength without failure of PET fibers. In addition, although the strength of specimens with PET fibers did not significantly increase in comparison with that of specimens with carbon fiber sheets and glass fiber sheets, specimens with PET fibers indicated considerable deformability. Thus, a PET fiber can be considered as an effective strengthening material.

  • In this study, damaged composite laminates were repaired by a stepped patch repair method using halloysite nanotube(HNT) and milled carbon(MC) reinforced composite materials with different amount of the particles. And the mechanical and structural effects of the particles on the interface between the damaged and repair surfaces were analyzed. At this time, after exposing them to a harsh environment of high temperature and humidity for a long time, the recovery rate of the material properties relative to the material forming the damaged plate was compared. As a result, at $70^{\circ}C$ high temperature distilled water, the hygroscopicity of the HNT/GFRP composites was significantly different from that of the MC/GFRP composites. Especially, 0.5, 1 wt. % HNT was added, the moisture absorption rate was the lowest and this was the factor that contributed to the mechanical strength increase. On the other hand, MC showed a high hygroscopic resistance only with a small amount, and the strength was different according to the action direction of the load, and the addition amount was also different.

  • Comparative thickening and dewatering characteristics of municipal wastewater sludge were investigated in terms of separated and combined treatment of primary and secondary BNR sludge. Also, various conditioning methods such as cation polymer addition, steam and ultrasonication treatment were examined to improve dewaterability of sludge. The dewaterability was measured by using specific resistant test, wedge zone simulator and centrifuge. The result of the sludge thickening test revealed that separated thickening was better in terms of solids recovery and supernatant quality. Particularly, the thickening of primary sludge with high solids (about 3.5% TS) showed very poor solid separation. The addition of cation polymer showed better conditioning characteristic for dewatering and the optimal polymer dosage was 0.26% for primary sludge, 0.43% for secondary sludge and 0.38% for combined sludge. Contrary to the result of the thickening, the dewatering test revealed that dewatering of the combined sludge is better than that of separated sludge, representing better solids separation and filtrate quality. The polymer addition was essential to improve dewaterability in filter (belt) press type dewatering but it was inefficient for the dewatering of secondary sludge only. The centrifuge type dewatering showed better performance and the dewaterability was slightly improved when the polymer was added. Based on the results of this research a sustainable sludge treatment process, particularly in terms of the recycle water quality and solids recovery, was proposed.

Generation and Selection of Promoter Trap Lines for the Investigation of Shoot Development in Arabidopsis (애기장대에 있어서 shoot 발달 연구를 위한 프로모터 trap 라인들의 제조 및 선별)

  • T-DNA-mediated transformation is a common method for generating transgenic plants with insertional mutagenesis. In order to identify important genes involved in shoot development, a system of promoter trap insertional mutagenesis was employed in Arabidopsis thaliana. For this system, an efficient promoter trap vector, pFGL561 was developed. The pFGL561 includes a basta-resistant gene, an intron with multiple splicing donor and acceptor sites, and a promoter-less GFP reporter gene. Using floral-dipping method, we made total 300 $T_1$ promoter-trap lines which were screened for GFP expression. GFP signals in the $T_1$ plants were detected with high frequency, 26.7%, and the signals were reconfirmed in $T_2$ plants. To isolate the genes that are involved in shoot development, phenotypes were analyzed in $T_2$ plants of the 19 $T_1$ lines that had GFP signals in shoot apex, and 6 $T_1$ lines were selected that had abnormal shoot development. These lines will be very useful for the investigation of shoot development.

  • We have constructed a vertical gradient freeze (VGF) grower for GaAs single crystals 2 inch in diameter and have grown semi-insulating GaAs co-doped with Cr and In. For the co-doped crystal, the segregation coefficients of the dopants remain unchanged when compared to those doped with only Cr or In. The concentration of Cr and in atoms range from about $2{\Times}10_{16} to 3{imes}10^{17} cm^{-3}$ and $2{\Times}10^{19} to 3{\Times}10^{20} cm^{-3}$ at the seed to the tail part of the grown crystal, respectively. The averaged dislocation etch pit density is found to be less than $8000 cm^{-2}$ throughout the ingot. It is also found that there is some evidence of lattice hardening for the crystal in which the dislocation density is decreased to less than $1000 cm^{-2}$ as In concentration increases. The resistivity increases abruptly from $10^{-2}$ up to $10^8$ Ohm-cm, while the carrier concentration decreases from $10^{16}$ to $10^8 cm^{-3}$ along the growth direction of the GaAs crystal. Semi-insulating properties can be obtained above a critical concentration of Cr of about $6{\Times}10{^16} cm^{-3}$ in the crystal. The main deep levels existing in the GaAs: Cr,In sample are two electron traps at $E_C-0.81eV, E_C-0.35eV$, and two hole traps at $E_V+0.89eV, E_V+0.65eV$.

The Effect of Residual H2Pressure on Gallium-doped ZnO Films Deposited by Magnetron Sputtering (마그네트론 스퍼터링에 의해 제작한 Gallium-doped ZnO 박막에 있어서 잔류 H2O 분압의 영향)

  • Gallium doped Zinc Oxide(GZO) films were deposited by dc magnetron sputtering using a GZO ceramic target at various conditions such as substrate temperature (RT, 400), residual water pressure ($P_{H_2O}$; 1.61${\times}10^{-4}∼2.2{\times}10^{-3}$ Pa), introduction of $H_2$ gas (8.5%) and different magnetic field strengths(250, 1000G). GZO films deposited without substrate heating showed clear degradation in film crystallinity and electrical properties with increasing $P_{H_2O}$. The resistivity increased from 3.0${\times}10^{-3}$ to 3.1${\times}10^{-2}{\Omega}㎝$ and the grain size of the films decreased from 24 to 3 nm when PH2O was increased from 1.61${\times}10^{-4}$ to 2.2${\times}10^{-3}$ Pa. However, degradation in electrical properties with increasing $P_{H_2O}$ was not observed for the films deposited with introduction of 8.5% $H_2$. When magnetic field strength of the cathode increased from 250G to 1000G, crystallinity and electrical properties of GZO films improved remarkably about all the $P_{H_2O}$. This result could be attributed to the decrease in film damage caused by the decrease in plasma impedance.

  • The mosquito, Aedes albopictus is important vector of humen phatogen such as dengue fever. And Aedes albopictus has widly distribution in oriental regions. This study was conducted to investigate the biological effects of cooper on the development of the Asian tiger mosquitoes, Aedes albopictus (Skuse). Aedes albopictus was affected with pupation ratios, mortalities, and wing lengths of the 3th and 4th instars by exposure to different concentration $CuCl_2$ (0.0, 2.5, 25.0 and 50.0 ppm) for 24 h and 48 h depending on dose and exposure period. The lowest $LC_{50}$ (median lethal concentration) value of $CuCl_2$ was 18.1 ppm at the 3rd instars for 48 h exposure. The pupation ratio of the larvae exposed at 50.0 ppm for 48 h was 14% which was much lower than those exposed to other treatment groups Changes of adult wing length showed significant decreased by Cu treatment. In conclusion, the most prominent effects of high concentration and longer exposure period were to reduce in the survival and pupation rates of larvae and wing length of Ae. albopictus.

  • 현재 평화의 댐 배수터널은 직경 10m 원형 x 4 련의 콘크리트 라이닝 터널로 구성되어 있다. 배수터널내의 흐름특성은 터널직경, 모양, 터널결사, 조도계수 및 입구부와 출구부의 기하학적 성질, 터널의 상류수위와 하류수위 등에 따라 개수로 혹은 관수로의 흐름특성이 나타난다. 따라서 터널내의 흐름은 각각의 경우에 따른 수리학적 해석이 달리 적용되어진다. 화천댐의 수위와 연계하여 평화의 댐 방류량을 산정하기 위해서는 상$\cdot$하류 수위에 따른 관로내의 흐름특성이 다양하게 변화하는 바 이에 따른 수리학적 검토가 필요하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 배수터널의 흐름별로 계산 방법을 도출하였으며 상$\cdot$하류의 수위와 단면형태를 고려하여 먼저 배수터널내의 흐름특성을 규명한 다음 그에 합당한 유량산정공식으로 배수터널 내에서 유하하는 흐름의 유량값을 산정할 수 있는 방법을 제시하였다. 본 검토에서 구축된 계산절차에 의해서 평화의 댐 수위가 급격하게 변화하는 시점인 2002년 1월, 6월 그리고 2004년 8월 시점의 평화의 댐, 화천댐의 수위를 검토하여 방류량을 산정하였다. 평화의 댐에서는 방류량을 결정하기 위한 계측시설이 없기 때문에 가장 가까운 하류부의 화천댐 유입량과 비교를 수행하게 된다. 강우가 지속되면서 화천댐의 유입량이 증가를 하게 되는데 화천댐 유역의 국지적인 호우에 따른 유입량으로 판단되는 부분을 제외하고는 화천댐 유입량과 계산된 평화의 댐 방류량에서 유사한 결과를 도출하고 있었다. 이와 같은 산정법을 바탕으로 하여 강우에 따른 평화의 댐 방류량을 정확히 산정함으로서 댐유역의 비상사태 발생 또는 임남댐의 방류 등을 추정하는데 크게 기여할 수 있을것으로 판단된다.2$으로 나타났다. 밸브 개폐도가 $100\%$일 때가 밸브를 $60\%$$80\%$ 개폐시켰을 때보다 $0.3kg/cm^2,\;0.29kg/cm^2$ 낮게 나타나 밸브를 전체 개방 했을 때 관로내의 수압이 상수설계기준에 적합한 수압을 유지함을 알 수 있다. 상수관로 설계 기준에서는 관로내 수압을 $1.5\~4.0kg/cm^2$으로 나타내고 있는데 $6kg/cm^2$보다 과수압을 나타내는 경우가 $100\%$로 밸브를 개방하였을 때보다 $60\%,\;80\%$ 개방하였을 때가 더 빈번히 발생하고 있으므로 대상지역의 밸브 개폐는 $100\%$ 개방하는 것이 선계기준에 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 밸브 개폐에 따른 수압 변화를 모의한 결과 밸브 개폐도를 적절히 유지하여 필요수량의 확보 및 누수방지대책에 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.8R(mm)(r^2=0.84)$로 지수적으로 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 유거수량은 토성별로 양토를 1.0으로 기준할 때 사양토가 0.86으로 가장 작았고, 식양토 1.09, 식토 1.15로 평가되어 침투수에 비해 토성별 차이가 크게 나타났다. 이는 토성이 세립질일 수록 유거수의 저항이 작기 때문으로 생각된다. 경사에 따라서는 경사도가 증가할수록 증가하였으며 $10\% 경사일 때를 기준으로 $Ro(mm)=Ro_{10}{\times}0.797{\times}e^{-0.021s(\%)}$로 나타났다.천성 승모판 폐쇄 부전등을 초래하는 심각한 선천성 심질환이다. 그러

  • 본 실험에서는 부력 조건이 달라질 때 단공방류구에서 정체수역으로 수평방류되는 부력제트의 거동을 규명하였다. LIF (Laser Induced Fluorescence) 시스템을 이용하여 수행하였는데, LIF 시스템은 고해상도의 이미지를 취득할 수 있어 데이터의 정확도가 높으며, 동시에 한 평면상의 농도장을 일시에 측정할 수 있는 장점이 있는 기술이다. LIF 시스템은 크게 세부분으로 구성되어 있는데 방출시스템, 포착시스템, 처리시스템이 그것이다. 실험 조건을 고려해서 온수를 이용하여 주변수와의 밀도차를 재현하였으며, LIF 시스템의 추적입자로 형광염료 Rhodamine B를 사용하였다. 또한, 실험 데이터 취득과정에서 필요한 검정과정을 수행하였는데, LIF 시스템에서 검정과정은 레이저 입사광의 강도가 불균등한 분포를 가지는 점과 주변수의 매질에 의한 근의 감쇠가 발생하는 문제를 해결하기 위한 것이다.   • Two hundred forty seven isolates obtained from 21 white or cream-colored mushroom strain by single spore isolation or multiple spore germination were compared type of mycelial growth in vitro and yield trial in a preliminary test. As a result of these tests, four isolates were selected and compared the yields of sporophores with those of 505 and 702 which are leading strains in mushroom production. The newly selected isolate No. 705 showed high yield of mushroom with good quality as described below. 1. The isolate No. 705 produced 13% more mushrooms than those from the strain No. 703. Both produced creamy type of mushroom. The isolate No. 705 showed high blanching yield ratio and moderate resistance to Mycogone perniciosa. 2. For the isolate No. 705 obtained by multiple spore germinations, the optimum temperature of mycelial growth was $25^{\circ}C$, also the mycelial growth was better at $15^{\circ}C$ than others, optimum moisture content of the compost was 65% and optimum casing soil pH for mycelial growth was 7.8. 3. The new isolate No. 705 produced more number of sporophores and the ratio between parts of sporophores were intermediate of those from the strains No. 505 and No. 703.
