A Study on the Effectiveness of Intelligent Transport Systems on National Highways (국도상의 지능형교통시스템의 효과성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Intelligent Transport Systems(ITS) has been currently growing attention in industry as hightech traffic system and ITS infrastructure has been built not only on expressway but also on national highways. Although the effect of ITS installation on national highways is not easy to measure with quantitative methodology, it is necessary to develop the quantitative method to verify the effect accurate analysis of ITS effect. In this study, the analysis of cost efficiency of ITS project carried out by Iksan Regional Constriction Management Administration(IRCMA) was conducted. Analysis period and discount rate were assumed as 10 years and 5.5%, respectively. Several measures of the effect including reduction of travel time, CO2 discharged and fuel and the value of Variable Message Sign(VMS) information were proposed. Concludingly, ITS project implemented by IRCMA appeared to be cost effective, indicating 1.20 of B/C ratio, 12.4% of IRR and W1.48 billion of NPV.

A Service Network Design Model for Less-than-Truckload Freight Transportation (소화물 운송 서비스 네트웍 설계 모형 연구)

  • A service network design model for LTL freight transportation is formulated as a mixed integer Programming Problem with two heuristic solution a1gorithms. The Proposed model derives the transportation Path for each origination-destination pair, taking into account transportation cost over the links and handling costs over the nodes. The first algorithm searches for a local minimum solution from a given initial solution by improving the quality of solution repeatedly while the second a1gorithm searches for a better solution using Simulated Annealing Method. For both solution algorithms, the initial solution is derived by a modified reverse Diikstras shortest Path a1gorithm. An illustrative example, Presented in the last part of the Paper, shows that the proposed algorithms find solutions which reduce the cost by 12% and 15% respectively, compared to the initial solution.

  • In relation with economical efficiency analysis on investment evaluation of transportation system, among vehicle operating cost saving benefit that is applied to general preliminary assessment guidelines and investment evaluation guidelines, oil expense calculated data which concentrated and analyze on the relationship between oil consumption amount on running state and running speed. For uninterrupted flow which does not have stopped delay due to traffic signal, consideration for reduction benefit is possible due to the changes of running speed and travel time however, for interrupted flow which the stopping occurs due to signal control on actual signal intersection has no consideration for stopping delay time reduction and stopping rate improvement thus reflection of reality on improved effect analysis is difficult. Therefore, this research makes a framework to analyze benefits that reflects the features of signalized intersections by benefits associated with decrease of stopping delay time with existing research and developing vehicle operating cost calculation model formula. Vehicle operating cost has been redefined considering the stopping delay time by applying the oil consumption amount at idling and the economical benefit between conventional model and newly developed model when applied for the optimization of traffic signal system on the two roads in Seosan city has been analyzed comparative. While the importance of traffic system maintenance is being emphasized due to the increase of congested areas on roads, it is expected to assist in more realistic economical analysis which reflect the delay improvement through the presentation of an economic analysis model that considers the features of signalized intersections in signal optimization system improvements and effect analysis of congestion improvement projects`.

Beneficial effects of ton-bag and wire-steel pallet on postharvest handling of onion and the cost evaluation (톤백 및 와이어철제파렛트 이용에 따른 양파의 수확후관리 효율성 증대와 경제성 평가)

  • This study aimed in onion production by evaluating cost and labor efficiencies of onion storage methods using either a ton-bag or a wire-steel pallet. New methods using ton-bag and wire-steel pallets were developed and applied to postharvest tasks, such as harvest packaging, transportation, and storage. The storage parameters evaluated for their effect on the logistics of onion production were: working duration, working hours, and cost expenditure. The longitudinal tensile strength of the ton-bag developed in this study was 16% higher than that of the conventional ton-bag. The wire-steel pallet developed in this study had 10% more storage capacity in a low-temperature storage room, and its truck loading capacity was more than doubled compared to that of the conventional steel pallet. There was no difference in the wasting rate during bulk storage between the newly developed wire-steel pallet and the conventional steel pallet, for 500 kg of onions. However, the bulk storage of 1,000 kg of onions using the wire-steel pallet was not found to be suitable, because the wasting rate of onions stored using the wire-pallet was 3.7% higher than that of onions stored using a conventional steel pallet. The time and the total investing costs for the bulk method decreased by 50.1% and 46.1%, respectively, compared to those for conventional harvest. In the bulk storage using the wire-steel pallet, the total storage cost decreased by 28.8%. Thus, it is estimated that we could have saved 18.3 billion won if the wire-steel pallet method about 30% of the total onion production (1,298,749 M/T) in 2016.

  • This paper discussed to design system to overcome time, place and service limitation in the case of extracting traffic on active service in the ATM network. There are several specification in this system : for a remote control function, a real-time traffic extraction from ATM link on service without affect in-service, and an O&M(Operating and Maintenance) cost down effect. This paper include the requirement, module structure, operating characteristics and command for the developing function. This product installed at the KT's telephone office. And we have tested the stability, reliability and functionality. As the result, it was verified that this system commercially is abel to use without especial problem. Hereafter, we are improving module structure for the cost down.

  • This paper describes a study on the intelligent LED lighting system implementation applicated environmental reservation setting. The environment variables are preset by ON and OFF time of illuminator and brightness data. The setting data enables to be changed by personal preferences on the selecting menu. It is possible to reduce unnecessary consumption and operation for the lighting system. The system customized by user's environment is convenient for disability by using bluetooth. Thus the system results in cost effective and energy savings. The system performances are examined for convenient operation and energy saving for practicality in implemented system.

A Feasibility Study on Optimization System of Coagulant Dosing for Total Phosphorous Treatment (총인 처리를 위한 응집제 주입량 최적제어 시스템의 적용성 연구)

  • In this study, we developed an M-COS (molit coagulant-dosing optimization system), which enables to apply the optimum coagulant dose determined in real time, in order to satisfy the total phosphorus (TP) regulation (0.5 mg/L), and then tested its field applicability. Field tests were conducted at three different periods in 2014 in a pilot plant where the M-COS was installed. Coagulant reduction rate by the M-COS was 10.4%, 15.3%, and 9.0% for each period (average 11.6%), when comparing with a control where coagulants were applied at a constant rate. Total cost for the M-COS or control was estimated by summing up the coagulant cost and sludge treatment cost, and then the resulting cost increase was predicted. Cost reduction rate by the M-COS was 13.8%, 20.0%, and 11.4% for each period (average 15.0%). This study indicates that the M-COS can be an alternative to a conventional system for TP treatment, with a better cost efficiency.

  • Recently, various connected industrial parks (CIPs) architectures using new technologies such as cloud computing, CPS, big data, fifth-generation mobile communication 5G, IIoT, VR-AR, and ventilation transportation AI algorithms have been proposed in Korea. Korea's small and medium-sized enterprises do not have the upper hand in technological competitiveness than overseas advanced countries such as the United States, Europe and Japan. For this reason, Korea's small and medium-sized enterprises have to invest a lot of money in technology research and development. As a latecomer, Korean SMEs need to improve their profitability in order to find sustainable growth potential. Financially, it is most efficient for small and medium-sized Korean companies to cut costs to increase their profitability. This paper made profitability improvement by reducing costs for small and medium-sized enterprises located in CIPs in Korea a major task. VJP (Vehicle Action Program) was noted as a way to reduce costs for small and medium-sized enterprises located in CIPs in Korea. The method of achieving minimum logistics costs for small businesses through the Korean CIPs payment system was analyzed. The details of the new Korean CIPs payment system were largely divided into four types: "Business", "Data", "Technique", and "Finance". Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) was used as a performance analysis method for CIPs payment systems.

Comparison of the Timber Harvesting Productivity and Cost of Single-operation using a Forestry Combi-machine Versus Multi-operation using a Tower-yarder and Processor (타워야더+프로세서 기반의 작업시스템에서 단공정 및 다공정작업의 생산성 및 비용분석)

  • The harvesting system in South Korea faces the problems of aging workers and high wages, so it is necessary to improve the operation system and train workers to use high-performance forestry machines. This study compared the effectiveness and costs of yarding and processing operations between a multi-operation system using a tower yarder (HAM300) and a processor (KESLA 20SH) with those of a single-system using a forestry combi-machine. A whole-tree (cable) yarding operation was conducted in the clear-cutting area located at Compartment 15, Gwangneung Experimental Forest, National Institute of Forest Science, and the productivity and cost of multi- and single-system were analyzed. The productivity of the single-system was 1.5 m3/PMH and 1.6 m3/PMH higher than that of the multi- system because the single-system produced 1 log/cycle more than the multi-system in the yarding operation. The cost was approximately 12.1% lower for the single-system (₩36,113/m3) than for the multi-system (₩41,065/m3). The costs of the single-system and multi-system were decreased by maximums of 22.6% and 15.9%, respectively, by decreasing the idle time.

A Inverter Control System for Vertical Circulation Parking Facility (수직순환식 입체주차설비용 인버터 제어시스템)

  • In this study, we developed the inverter system to control Induction motor for the vertically circulation parking facility. In the case of calling a pallet, a car parking space, we basically stoned conventional system's problems, pallet is uncontrollable to the fixed position and braking system was worn by forcer braking with remaining speed. Also, by appling to converter controller, added to power regenerative control function, we confirmed the reduce of power supply capacity and the energy saving effect according to increasing operation frequency. The validity of this system is verified by 55kw induction motor driving system. Via this study, the proposed system shows the efficient use of parking facility and good operation characteristics by implementing position and speed control effectively on condition of load and shows energy saying effect by power factor control for the vertically circulation parking facility operation.
