Objectives The purpose of this study is to report a Tic-disorder child with allergic rhinitis. Methods The child was suffered from Tic-disorder and the allergic rhinitis, and there were two symptoms of all can last more than a year. sometimes the sniffling, as a sin of allergic rhinitis had caused tic disorder. I thought It was needed to control of both of the symptoms at the same time, so I applied the herbal medicine, CheongKanSoYoSan, for Tic-disorder, and carried out the Aromatherapy and the Laser acupuncture for allergic rhinitis. Results After this treatments, the symptoms of Tic-disorder were disappeared according to improving the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. Conclusions It was suggested that we tried to take care of the patient with Tic-disorder, had to considered the other symptoms that were capable of causing.

Objectives To evaluate the effectiveness of allergic rhinitis treatment, and to set the ground in clinical studies, adequate outcome measures must be established. Thus, this study was designed to develop useful criteria based on those that have been suggested, and those that we are using today. Methods To assess outcome measures used in allergic rhinitis in Korean medicine, related articles found in Korea Traditional Knowledge Portal from 2000-2015 were evaluated. Then pattern identification and outcome measures were reviewed in each study. Results Among 27 studies, we have found 24 studies used subjective symptoms as outcome measures, 9 studies used quality of life, and most of allergic rhinitis were caused by Spleen-Gi deficiency. Conclusions It is necessary to develop outcome measures that directly reflect pattern identifications in Korean medicine, and those measures need to be further evaluated for their applicability, validity and sensitivity.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Intranasal acupuncture treatment in allergic rhinitis patients. Methods: This study was carried with the 42 pediatric allergic rhinitis who had been treated in our hospital. Inner young-hyang was used for the intranasal acupuncture points. Their nasal cavity was observed via anterior rhinoscopy. We induced patient's inferior turbiante bleeding by acupuncture. Patients nasal symtoms and QOL(quality of life) were assessed by the Total Nasal Symptom Score(TNSS) and Quality of Life Questionnaire for Korean Rhinitisian(QLQKR). Results: Total Nasal Symptom Score(TNSS) and Quality of Life Questionnaire for Korean Rhinitisian(QLQKR) were significantly improved. Conclusions: Intranasal acupuncture treatment is relatively effective in treating pediatric allergic rhinitis.

The link between upper airway disease (allergic rhinitis and sinusitis) and lower airway disease (asthma) has long been of interest to physicians. Many epidemiological and pharmacological studies have provided a better understanding of pathophysiologic interrelationship between allergic rhinitis and asthma. The vast majority of patients with asthma have allergic rhinitis, and rhinitis is a major independent risk factor for asthma in cross-sectional and longitudinal studies. The association between sinusitis and asthma has long been appreciated. Through the recent evidences, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, and asthma may not be considered as different diseases but rather as the expression in different parts of the respiratory tract of same pathological process in nature. Various mechanisms have been proposed to explain the relationship between asthma and upper airway diseases, but the underlying mechanisms are not completely discovered. The implications for the one-airway hypothesis are important not only academically but also clinically for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

Pasteurella multocida Pasteurella multocida toxin (PMT) is a causal pathogenin atrophic rhinitis in pigs. To investigate the protective immunity and vaccination effect of recombinantPMT, the gene for PMT was isolated from the infective P. multocida D:4. The 2.3 kb XhoI/PstI fragment(PMT2.3) of PMT gene was expressed in E. coli BL21 (DE3) using the induced expression vector system.The recombinant protein of PMT2.3 having molecular weight of 84 kDa was purified by Ni-afinitycolumn chromatography. The PMT2.3 raised slightly less anti-PMT antibody titer than formalin-killedwhole cel, however, it showed more protective imunity against P. multocida D:4 infection in vaccinationand chalenge.

Astragali Radix(AR), is a popular tonic herb prescribed for 'insufficient qi' in Korea, Japan and China. The present study examined the effect of AR ethanol extract on ovalubumin induced allergic mouse model. AR administration reduced levels of IFN-gamma, Interleukin(IL)-4, IL-5 and total IgE in the OVA induced allergic inflammation. It also protected the upper airway respiratory epithelium from being damaged by the OVA induced inflammation. Taken together, our results showed that the use of AR alone proved to down-regulate Th1 and Th2 cytokine production and play a protective role in tissue damage in allergic disease.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical application of Korean Traditional treatment to Jeon-zeong(癲證) with Chronic hypertrophic rhinitis. Methods : In this case, a 25 years old male patient has suffered by schizophrenia for 2 years and by Chronic rhinitis for 9 months. During 171 days, we treated the patient with Korean Traditional treatment. Specially blood-Letting therapy helped the patient to decrease the auditory hallucination, catalepsy and retardation as well as the snuffles. Results : After treatment. the chief complain and accompanying symptoms were subsided and improved. And Personal and social performance scale was increased. Conclusions : According to this study, Korean Traditional treatment such as Blood-Letting therapy, acupuncture and heb-medication is effective for the cure of Jeon-zeong(癲證) with Chronic hypertrophic rhinitis.

Objectives : This study was carried out to investigate the effect of Gyulpidaehwangbakcho-tang on rhinitis with nasal obstruction. Methods : We treated 18 rhinitis patients with nasal obstruction. We used the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS), and recorded the condition of patients as +++, ++, +, -. Results : After the treatments, all patients VAS of nasal obstruction was remarkably decreased. Conclusions : This study suggests that Gyulpidaehwangbakcho-tang is effective on rhinitis with nasal obstruction.

Objective : We investigated the effects of BOM Gunbisoyeom-tang(Jianbixiaoyan-tang) Gamibang having prescribed clinically to patients with perennial allergic rhinitis. Methods : We prescribed BOM Gunbisoyeom-tang(Jianbixiaoyan-tang) Gamibang for 1 month to 77 patients visiting to KimKiJoon Orentalclinic BOM from January 1 to December 31, 2008 with perennial allergic rhinitis and analysised the questionnaire(symptom severity assessment) before and after treatment. Results : BOM Gunbisoyeom-tang(Jianbixiaoyan-tang) Gamibang improved significantly all nosal symptoms(sneezing, runny nose, congestion, itchy nose and postnasal drip), some non-nasal symptoms(eye and throat symptoms, headache and mental function) except chromic cough and ear symptoms and quality of life. Conclusion : BOM Gunbisoyeom-tang(Jianbixiaoyan-tang) Gamibang cured effectively patients with perennial allergic rhinitis by 1 month treatment but not perfectly. So further studies are needed for treatment duration and changes of pathological index before and after treatment.

The purpose of this study is to examine the factors influencing the allergic rhinitis patients' satisfaction with laser surgery. The data were collected by telephone interviews with 211 patients who visited I university hospital. The statistical methods used for the analysis were factor analysis, reliability test, and hierarchical multiple regression. We find that satisfaction level is a function of not only the surgery outcome but also the socio-psychological experience during treatment. With the improvement in nasal allergic condition, patients were more likely to be satisfied with medical services. And patients who had positive experience with physicians and facilities reported higher satisfaction level. While the surgery outcome explained 68% of the variation of satisfaction level, socio-psychological experience explained 23% of it. This result clearly shows that physicians need to pay attention to the socio-psychological aspect as well as the technical aspect of medical services.
