The Petrov-Galerkin Natural Element Method : III. Geometrically Nonlinear Analysis (페트로프-갤러킨 자연요소법 : III. 기하학적 비선형 해석)

  • According to ow previous study, we confirmed That the Petrov-Galerkin natural element method(PG-NEM) completely resolves the numerical integration inaccuracy in the conventional Bubnov-Galerkin natural element method(BG-NEM). This paper is an extension of PG-NEM to two-dimensional geometrically nonlinear problem. For the analysis, a linearized total Lagrangian formulation is approximated with the PS-NEM. At every load step, the grid points ate updated and the shape functions are reproduced from the relocated nodal distribution. This process enables the PG-NEM to provide more accurate and robust approximations. The representative numerical experiments performed by the test Fortran program, and the numerical results confirmed that the PG-NEM effectively and accurately approximates The large deformation problem.

Wavelet Network for Stable Direct Adaptive Control of Nonlinear Systems (비선형 시스템의 안정한 직접 적응 제어를 위한 웨이브렛 신경회로망)

  • In this paper, we deal with the problem of controlling an unknown nonlinear dynamical system, using wavelet network. Accurate control of the nonlinear systems depends critically on the accuracy and efficiency of the function approximator used to approximate the function. Thus, we use wavelet network which shows high capability of approximating the functions and includes the free-selection of basis functions for the control of the nonlinear system. We find the dilation and translation that are wavelet network parameters by analyzing the time-frequency characteristics of the controller's input to construct an initial adaptive wavelet network controller. Then, weights is adjusted by the adaptive law based on the Lyapunov stability theory. We apply this direct adaptive wavelet network controller to control the inverted pendulum system which is an nonlinear system.

Enhanced Fast Luma Adjustment for High Dynamic Range Television Broadcasting (고-휘도 텔레비전 방송을 위한 개선된 빠른 휘도 조절 기법)

  • Highly non-linear electro-optical transfer function of the Perceptual Quantizer was approximated by a truncated Taylor series, resulting in a closed form solution for luma adjustment. This previous solution is fast and quite suitable for the hardware implementation of luma adjustment, but the approximation error becomes relatively large in the range of 600~3,900 cd/m2 linear light. In order to reduce such approximation error, we propose a new linear model, for which a correction is performed on the position and the slope of line based on the scope of approximation. In order to verify the approximation capability of the proposed linear model, a comparative study on the luma adjustment schemes was conducted using various high dynamic range test video sequences. Via the comparative study, we identified a significant performance enhancement over the previous fast luma adjustment scheme, where a 4.65dB of adjusted luma t-PSNR gain was obtained for a test sequence having a large portion of saturated color pixels.

Uncertainty-Compensating Neural Network Control for Nonlinear Systems (비선형 시스템의 불확실성을 보상하는 신경회로망 제어)

  • In this paper, a direct controller for nonlinear plants using a neural network is presented. The composed of the control input by using RBF neural networks and auxiliary input to compensate for effects of the approximation errors and disturbances. In the results, using this scheme, the output tracking error between the plant and the reference model can asymptotically converge to zero in the presence of bounded disturbances and approximation errors. Simulation results show that it is very effective and can realize a satisfactory control of the nonlinear system.

  • Conventional radial-basis-function networks and fuzzy systems have serious problems in dealing with the non1inea:r approximations on high-dimensional spaces due to the explosive increase of the number of hidden nodes or fuzzy IF-THEN rules. In order to avoid such problems, this paper proposes a tree-structured intelligent system in which semi-local basis functions form its basic elements, and develops a training algorithm for the proposed system based on the modified genetic algorithm and LMS rule. Theoretical analysis is performed on the approximation capability of the proposed system, together with experimental studies which demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed methodology.

  • 본 논문에서는 비선형 제어시스템의 성능 개선을 위한 새로운 신경망 직접 적응제어 알고리즘을 제시하였다. 제어칙은 Gaussian RBF 신경망을 이용한 제어입력과 근사화 오차 및 외란의 영향을 제거하기 위한 보조제어 입력으로 구성하였다. 또한 신경망에 사용된 가중치와 보조입력의 파라미터를 조정하기 위한 적응칙은 Lyapunov 안정도 이론에 의하여 구하였다. 이렇게 함으로써 외란이나 근사화 오차에 관계없이 플랜트와 기준모델 사이의 오차가 0이 되도록 하는 알고리즘을 구할 수 있었다. 또한 제시된 알고리즘의 효용성을 알아보기 위하여 Duffing forced oscillation 시스템에 대하여 시뮬레이션 하여본 결과 만족할만한 성능을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 최근에 개발된 Unscented Particle Filter (UPF)를 사용한 비선형 동적 구조계의 구조계수 규명기법이 연구되었다. 일반적인 비선형 구조계수 추정 문제의 일반 해는 존재하지 않으나, 그에 대한 대안으로써 선형 근사 기법인 extended Kalman filter (EKF)가 비선형 동적 구조계수의 추정에 주로 사용되어왔다. 그러나, EKF는 구간 선형(piecewise linear) 가정으로 인해 biased estimator이고 비선형성이 상대적으로 높을 때 오차가 큰 추정치를 주는 단점을 가진다. 이를 보완하기 위해서 UPF가 개발되었고, 이 기법은 particle filter의 일종으로써 Unscented Kalman filter (UKF)를 사용하여 importance proposal distribution을 생성한다. 수치실험이 SDOF와 MDOF에 대하여 3가지 경우에 대해서 수행되었다. 비선형 SDOF의 수치 실험으로부터 잡음이 가해진 상태에서 UKF가 EKF에 비해 초기 공분산 행렬의 가정에 대해 정확하고 강인한 추정결과를 보여줌을 보였다 최하층의 column에 비선형 거동이 발생하는 5층 전단 빌딩모형의 수치실험으로부터 UKF가 복잡한 구조물의 구조계수 추정능력이 있음을 보여주었다. 여러 가지 수치실험은 UPF가 EKF보다 비선형 동적 구조계수 추정에 있어서 더 나은 방법임을 보여 주었다.

Comparison of methods of approximating option prices with Variance gamma processes (Variance gamma 확률과정에서 근사적 옵션가격 결정방법의 비교)

  • We consider several methods to approximate option prices with correction terms to the Black-Scholes option price. These methods are able to compute option prices from various risk-neutral distributions using relatively small data and simple computation. In this paper, we compare the performance of Edgeworth expansion, A-type and C-type Gram-Charlier expansions, a method of using Normal inverse gaussian distribution, and an asymptotic method of using nonlinear regression through simulation experiments and real KOSPI200 option data. We assume the variance gamma model in the simulation experiment, which has a closed-form solution for the option price among the pure jump $L{\acute{e}}vy$ processes. As a result, we found that methods to approximate an option price directly from the approximate price formula are better than methods to approximate option prices through the approximate risk-neutral density function. The method to approximate option prices by nonlinear regression showed relatively better performance among those compared.

  • The classical buckling theory assumes that prebuckling behavior is linear and that the effect of prebuckling deformations on buckling can be ignored. However, when the rise to span ratio decreases, prebuckling deformation cannot be ignored and the symetrical buckling strength can be smaler than the asymetrical buckling strength. Finally, arches can fail due to snap-through buckling. This paper investigates the non-linear behavior and strength of pin-ended parabolic shallow arches using the non-linear governing differential equation of shallow arches. These results were compared with the solution for the symmetrical buckling load of pin-ended parabolic shallow arches was suggested.

  • Fuzzy system is capable of uniformly approximating any nonlinear function over compact input space. The applications of fuzzy system, however, have been primarily limited by the need for large number of fuzzy rules, in particular, for the high-order nonlinear system. In this paper, we propose the reconstruction methods of fuzzy systems, parallel type and cascade, based on the decomposition of some classes of high-order nonlinear functions. Using the both types appropriately, we can reduce the number of fuzzy rules geometrically. It can be applied to the fuzzy system that has an online adaptive structure. Two examples of adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control are shown in the computer simulations to verify the validity of the proposed algorithm.
