상온 대기압 플라즈마를 이용한 곰팡이 살균과 바이오 필름 제거에 대한 생물학적 분석과 플라즈마 장치 개발

  • 곰팡이에 의한 감염과 바이오 필름 형성이 우리 인간에게 매우 유해하다는 것은 익히 알려진 바이다. 일례로, 이는 우리가 먹는 음식을 오염시키고 치아를 상하게 하며 수도관을 부식시키고 또 우리 몸속에 집어넣는 의료기기에서 자라 심각한 질병을 유발시키는 등 여러가지 문제를 일으킨다. 곰팡이 감염과 바이오 필름 형성을 막기 위해 항생제 및 화학물질 등을 이용하는 방법들이 있으나 저항성이 증가된 균주의 출현, 환경오염 등의 문제점을 유발시키고 있다. 따라서 좀더 지속적이고 환경친화적인 기술개발이 요구되어지고 있다. 강한 살균력이 있다고 알려져 있는 대기압 플라즈마는 이러한 기술개발에 적용해볼 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 상온 대기압 플라즈마를 만들어 내는 여러 타입의 장치를 이용하여 곰팡이 살균과 이스트 바이오필름 형성 저해에 대한 조사를 하였고 플라즈마 처리에 따른 곰팡이 세포들의 세포학적 분자생물학적 영향에 대해 조사해 보았다. 대기압 상온 플라즈마 제트는 대기중에서 방안의 온도로 플라즈마가 생성되며 이를 페트리디쉬위에 접종된 이스트(Saccharomyces cerevisiae) 위 10 mm에서 조사한 결과 2분 이상의 처리를 했을 때 바이오 필름형성을 하지 못함을 보였고 곰팡이(Neurospora crassa)포자에 처리했을 때는 처리시간에 비례하여 발아하는 포자수가 감소하고 포자의 모양도 수축되는 것으로 관찰되었다. 대기압 플라즈마 제트는 대면적이 아닌 국부적 살균으로 살균력은 보이나 그 효율성이 낮아 이를 보완하기위해 DBD 형식의 플라즈마 장치를 만들었으며 이는 페트리디쉬의 모든 면을 동시에 조사할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 다만 제트와는 달리 플라즈마의 생성구간이 넓고 얇아 시료와 2~3 mm 간격을 띄우고 조사하였다. 제트와 마찬가지로 살균의 효과를 보였으며 기존의 단점을 극복하여 동시에 더 많은 면적을 조사 할 수 있게 되었다. 이를 통해 플라즈마의 살균능력을 직접 확인하였고 앞으로 더 많은 실험과 연구를 통해 일련의 과정들에 대한 원인을 규명하고자 한다.

Production of Yeast Biomass from Waste Brine of Kimchi Factory (김치공장의 배추 절임폐수를 이용한 효모 균체 생산)

  • The possibility of using waste brine from kimchi factory as a substrate for the production of the single cell protein was investigated. The growth of Pichia guilliermondii A9 isolated from waste brine was not inhibited by the NaCl up to 10% (w/v). BOD of the waste brine was reduced to one tenth after 24 hours of yeast culture. The addition of ammonium salt, phosphate, and micronutrients to the waste brine did not enhance the growth of P. guilliermondii A9. However, when the brine was enriched with juice from waste cabbage, the final cell mass increased proportionally with the amount of added organic material, suggesting a practical application for the treatment of two different types of waste produced during kimchi manufacturing.

  • A Linear parameterized Sigma-Pi neural network (SPNN) is applied to a tilt-duct unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) which has a very large longitudinal stability ($C_{L{\alpha}}$). It is uncontrollable by a proportional, integral, derivative (PID) controller due to heavy stability. It is shown that the combined inner loop and outer loop of SPNN controllers could overcome the sluggish longitudinal dynamics using a method of dynamic inversion and pseudo-control to compensate for reference model error. The simulation results of the way point guidance are presented to evaluate the performance of SPNN in comparison to a PID controller.

  • This paper proposes the improving the equalization performance using the variable step size in the S-MMA (Sliced-Multi Modulus Algorithm) equalization algorithm in order to minimize the effect of intersymbol interference which occurs at the nonlinear transfer function of communication channel. The S-MMA were showned for the improving the steady state equalization performance and misadjustment compared to the MMA present algorithm, this two algorithm has a limitation of performance improvement due to the adapting the fixed step size according to the error signal amplitude. In order to solving the abovemensioned problem, the proposed algorithm was adopting the variable step size proportional to the error signal amplitude and the computer simulation was performed for showing the performance improving. As a result of simulation, the proposed VSS S-MMA algorithm has more superior equalization performance compared to the present S-MMA.

Downlink Scheduling Algorithm Based on Traffic Arrival Rate for Mobile Telecommunication System (이동통신 시스템을 위한 트래픽 유입량 기반 하향링크 스케줄링 알고리즘)

  • The downlink scheduling algorithm has a great impact on the performance of mobile telecommunication system. In proportional fairness (PF) scheduling algorithm, the resource is allocated proportionally to the quality of wireless channel. Thus, PF has difficulty in servicing the users having more downlink traffic. One can allocate the resource proportionally to the accumulated queue length. However, this leads to system throughput degradation since the users having low channel quality get more and more resource allocated due to accumulation property of queue. In this paper, we propose a new downlink scheduling algorithm, which extends PF algorithm by incorporating downlink traffic arrival rate. The proposed algorithm can effectively cope with users having more downlink traffic, and maintain high system throughput by eliminating accumulation effect in the algorithm. With computer simulations, it is verified that the proposed algorithm performs better than existing algorithms.

  • In this study, we demonstrated a development of a non-releasing bolt which is fastened with a target by expanding a certain area of a bolt body. Being released a bolt causes many problems in a field where bolts are used. In order to figure out the problems, currently, many types of a non-releasing bolt have been developed and have been using. Unfortunately, however, they do not perfectly function not to be released. Therefore, the structures builded with bolts have many problems caused by external stress such as vibration and shock, and thus the bolts have to be regularly tightened for maintenance. With the important factors of internal geometry, the amount of explosive, and the firing pin, we developed a technology which could control the expansion degree of a certain area on a bolt body. Based on the results, it was founded that the performance of non-releasing was linearly proportional to the degree of body expansion.

  • A torque transmission system, which is composed of serveral gears and couplings, is flexible. Therefore, the torsion vibration occurs when the motor speed abruptly changes. Consequently, for accuracy characteristic response of motor, we must suppressed vibration. Therefore, vibration suppression is very important motor control. In order to suppress the vibration, various control method have been proposed. Specially, one method of vibration suppression is used disturbance observer and filter. The disturbance observer is used to suppress the vibration in this method. By feedback of the estimated torsion torque, the vibration can be suppressed. The coefficient diagram method is used to design the filter and proportional controller. But using coefficient diagram method, not adapted controller parameter in disturbance. In order to solve this problem. we used fuzzy controller for auto tuning controller parameter $K_P$. We proved of this approach is confirmed by simulation. 

Phyllite as a New Flame Retardant Synergist for ABS Resin Containing Bromine Flame Retardant (브롬계 난연제를 사용한 ABS 수지에 대한 신규 난연 상승작용제로시의 천매암)

  • Flame retardant synergism of phyllite was studied in ABS resins containing brominated flame retardant(tetrabromobisphenol A(TBBA) or brominated epoxy oligomer(BEO)) and antimony trioxide($Sb_2O_3)$. Talc was used for the comparison purpose. ABS compounds were manufactured by a twin-screw co-rotating extruder and subsequently injection molded into several specimen for mechanical and thermal properties. Flame retardancy of ABS compounds measured by UL 94 vertical test with 1.6 mm thick bar specimen was enhanced by the replacement of antimony trioxide into phyllite or talc in the range of 12.5%(0.5 wt%) to 37.5%(1.5 wt%). Phyllite showed better synergistic effect comparing with talc especially for BEO. Only phyllite enhanced the flowability of ABS compounds. Notched Izod impact strength decreased with the proportion of phyllite or talc content. Phyllite could replace the antimony trioxide up to the content of 25%(1 wt%) to give better flame retardancy and flowability without darkening problem.

Mouthpiece Modeling of the Electronic Wind Instrument Using a Propeller and Linear Analysis for Fast Tracking Wind Velocity (빠른 바람의 세기 추적을 위한 프로펠러를 사용한 전자 관악기 취구의 선형 모델링)

  • In this paper, we propose a new mouthpiece model for the electronic wind instrument using a propeller and linear analysis for fast tracking wind velocity blown. This method is a modification of the velocity anemometer for fast tracking wind velocity by the propeller's angular velocity (speed of revolution). In the case of velocity anemometer, wind velocity is calculated using the property that wind velocity is in proportion to the propeller's angular velocity. However, wind velocity and angular velocity of the propeller are not in one-one correspondence because wind velocity takes some transitional time for the expected wind velocity to be calculated from angular velocity. To resolve this problem, we propose a method for finding the impulse response of the system which can be considered as a linear system, and for estimating the wind velocity by deconvolving the propeller's angular velocity with the impulse response. To experiment and to prove the validity of the proposed system, we designed a mouthpiece model which consists of a motor, a propeller and an encoder. The result of estimated wind velocity in this method showed that this system is about eightfold faster than the method by the conventional velocity anemometer.

Load Balancing Scheme for Heterogeneous Cellular Networks Using e-ICIC (eICIC 가 적용된 이종 셀룰러 망을 위한 부하 분산 기법)

  • Recently, heterogeneous networks consisting of small-cells on top of traditional macro-cellular network has attracted much attention, because traditional macro-cellular network is not suitable to support more demanding mobile data traffic due to its limitation of spatial reuse. However, due to the transmit power difference between macro- and small-cells, most users are associated with macro-cells rather than small-cells. To solve this problem, enhanced inter-cell interference coordination (eICIC) has been introduced. Particularly, in eICIC, the small-cell coverage is forcibly expanded to associate more users with small-cells. Then, to avoid cross-tier interference from macro-cells, these users are allowed to receive the data during almost blank subframe (ABS) in which macro-cells almost remain silent. However, this approach is not sufficient to balance the load between macro- and small-cells because it only expands the small-cell coverage. In this paper, we propose a load balance scheme improving proportional fairness for heterogeneous networks employing eICIC. In particular, the proposed scheme combines the greedy-based user association and the ABS rate determination in a recursive manner to perform the load balance.
