Control of Pressure and Thrust for a Variable Thrust Solid Propulsion System Using Linearization (선형화 기법을 이용한 가변추력 고체추진 기관의 압력 및 추력 제어)

  • Solid propulsion systems have simple structures compared to other propulsion systems and are suitable for long-term storage. However the systems generally have limits on control of thrust levels. In this paper we suggest control algorithms for combustion chamber pressure of variable thrust solid propulsion systems using special nozzles such as pintle valve. For the pressure control within the chamber, we use a simple pressure change model by considering only mass conservation within the combustion chamber, design a classical algorithm and also a nonlinear controller using the feedback linearization technique. Also we derive the equation of the thrust for an under-expanded one-dimensional nozzle and then design a proportional-intergral controller after linearizing the thrust model for an operating point. Finally, we demonstrate the performance of the controller through a numerical simulation.

Verification of Control Algorithm for Removing Oil Contaminant Factor from Proportional Pressure Control Valve (전자식 비례 압력제어밸브 내 오일 오염 입자 제거 제어 알고리즘 검증)

  • An electro proportional pressure control valve is mainly used to control the clutch of an agricultural tractor's automatic transmission. During transmission, the operating, hydraulic oil is mix with many kinds of contaminants. The contaminants can be trapped between the valve body and spool of the proportional pressure control valve leading to abnormal operating conditions and finally critical damage to the transmission hydraulic system. The present study aimed to verify the valve control algorithm as a basic study of developing control logic that removes contaminants between the spool and the body of the proportional pressure control valve. To develop the algorithm, MATLAB/SIMULINK was used. PWM method was used to control the applied solenoid coil current. The effectiveness of the algorithm was verified by comparing the actual pressure of the normal valve with the actual pressure of the abnormal valve. Based on the present study findings, when the algorithm was applied, the response of the valve pressure according to the current became stable and oil contaminated particles were removed. In the future study, the control algorithm will be optimized for the stability of the proportional pressure reducing valve, and it will be verified in consideration with the driving of the clutch.

  • In this paper, proportional modulator which controls the second pressure of the pneumatic system was studied and proportional operating of modulator was gotten by two digital valves that have a fast dynamic characteristics and were controlled by PWM operating method. In order to more precision pressure control, this modulator consist of not only high speed two digital valves but also pressure sensor, measurement equipment and controller having a microprocessing function. In this study, for the development of the new proportional modulator, various research such as PWM control method, test equipment manufacturing, testing and evaluation were accomplished.

  • The proportional pressure control valve that was used to relief valve has different dynamic characteristics on each case. Because this valve has different assembling or processing error and environmental condition. However, a customer who used the relief valve wants to have a steadily performance even if the dynamic characteristics of valve was changed. For this reason, the manufacturer try to make the robust controller that has simple structure. This paper concerns about the design of robust controller that didn't affected by plant parameter's changing. The control strategy is a model reference control that conducted by on line identification problem, gradient method and Lyapunov equation. This adaptvie control law's validity that this paper deal with was confirmed by an results of step response test or hysteresis test.

  • A proportional pressure control valve has a nonmagnetic ring which is inserted in between a coil and plunger and it can get attraction force in proportion to input current by an influence of control cone. Therefore, a proportional pressure control valve is applied to a servo system as substitution of servo valve and an on-off solenoid valve widely because control of a high level is possible and pollution level is low. The purpose of this study is to develop domestic model of a proportional pressure control valve, and a test model was designed and manufactured through valve system analysis and finite element analysis. And comparison between results of theoretical analysis and static / dynamic characteristics test were carried out on a manufactured test model, and it was confirmed that it has excellent performance in comparison with other foreign products.

Development of a constant pressure feed system using a constant pressure proportional control mode (정압비례제어방식을 적용한 정압급수장치의 개발)

  • Automatic feed pumps are operated and stopped by a pressure switch. Thus, because of repeated operations and stops of the pumps according to fluctuations of water volume, operation with constant rate and pressure is impossible. Moreover, because of repeated running of the pump, keeping up of constant pressure is impossible and damage and energy loss are weak points of the pimps. To make up for defects of an automatic feed pump, this paper designed and made a static pressure feed system which was composed of a feed water control valve, a flow sensor and a control system. The valve device plays an important part in reducing load of pumps by constant water supply regardless of outflow of water. Outflow of water is determined by infrared diode of the flow sensor. The control system is made of a 8 bit micro-processor and the pump was controled by a specific control algorithm. With the constant pressure feed system, discharge pressure was kept at fixed pressure, accurate operations and stops were smoothly accomplished and the pump was operated with constant pressure. Thus, the constant pressure feed system can be considered as an advanced system which made up for the weak points in the current automatic feed systems.

  • A PID controller integrated with a velocity feedback is designed for fluid power elevator model system in this study. In this case, for outside disturbance load a hydraulic cylinder and a pressure control valve are used. In this method overshoot is reduced and settling time becomes also shorter than the values achieved from the PID controller system only In conclusion a PID controller integrated with a velocity feedback is considered a suitable control method for fluid power elevator system.

  • Active suspension systems have been using for improving ride quality and stability for vehicles. An active suspension system is composed of a hydraulic pump, pressure control valves, hydraulic dampers, vehicle body, tires and other components. In this study, the mathematical model for the active suspension system based on the quarter car concept is derived, and a program for analysing the dynamic behaviour of the suspension system is developed. The computed results by the developed program are compared with the experimental results for confirming the reliability and usefulness of the developed program.

  • Pneumatic actuators are widely used in a variety of hazardous working environments. Any process that involves pneumatic actuation is also recognized as "eco-friendly". In most cases, applications of pneumatic actuators require only point-to-point control. In recent years, research efforts have been directed toward achieving precise position tracking control. In this study, a tracking position control method is proposed and experimentally evaluated for a linear positioning system. The positioning system is composed of a pneumatic actuator and a 3-port proportional valve. The proposed controller has an inner pressure control loop and an outer position control loop. A PID controller with feedback linearization is used in the pressure control loop to nullify the nonlinearity arising from the compressibility of the air. The position controller is also a PID controller augmented with the friction compensation by a neural network. Experimental results indicate that the proposed controller significantly improves the tracking performance.rformance.

  • If hydraulic pump controlled by mechanical type regulator has more than one control function, the construction of regulator will be very complicated and control performance falls drastically. It is difficult to have more than one control function for hydraulic pump controlled by electronic type hydraulic valve due to the inconsistency of controllers. This paper proposes a multi-function control technique which controls continuously flow, pressure and power by using EPPR(Electronic Proportional Pressure Reducing) valve in swash plate type axial piston pump. Nonlinear mathematical model is developed from the continuity equation for the pressurized control volume and the torque balance for the swash plate motion. To simplify the model we make the linear state equation by differentiating the nonlinear model. A reaction spring is installed in servo cylinder to secure the stability of the control system. We analyze the stability and disturbance by using the state variable model. Finally, we review the control performances of flow, pressure and power by tests using PID controller.
