  • In this paper, we propose a new method to stable simulation the directional ice shape by coupling of freezing solver and viscous water flow. The proposed ice modeling framework considers viscous fluid flow in the direction of ice growth, which is important in freezing simulation. The water simulation solution uses the method of applying a new viscous technique to the IISPH(Implicit incompressible SPH) simulation, and the ice direction and the glaze effect use the proposed anisotropic freezing solution. The condition in which water particles change state to ice particles is calculated as a function of humidity and new energy with water flow. Humidity approximates a virtual water film on the surface of the object, and fluid flow is incorporated into our anisotropic freezing solution to guide the growth direction of ice. As a result, the results of the glaze and directional freezing simulations are shown stably according to the flow direction of viscous water.

  • Identification of asymmetry and anisotropy of rotor system is important for diagnosis of rotating machinery. Directional frequency response functions (dFRFs) are known to be powerful tool in effectively detecting the presence of asymmetry or anisotropy. In this paper, an estimation method of dFRFs for rotors is newly developed, when both asymmetry and anisotropy are present. The method transforms the finite degrees-of-freedom time-varying linear differential equation of motion to an infinite degree-of-freedom time-invariant linear one, employing the modulated coordinates. The validity of the method is demonstrated by numerical simulation with a simple rotor model.

  • As the CG images in the films and the games are getting more realistic by the development of computer graphics, the requests of technique that can develop the various digital contents has also increased. However, the techniques developed for the studies and simulations of the ecological system and adaptation in the ocean, are insufficient compared with those on the ground. This paper propose a method of modeling to simulate the growth of ocean objects according to the variation of virtual ocean environment and the efficient metamorphosis based on the movement of the objects. By modeling the ocean objects with the anisotropic metacubes, it is possible to represent easily the growth and metamorphosis of fishes as the movement in the virtual environment of ocean.

  • A new modal analysis method for rotor systems with periodically time-varying parameters is proposed. The essence of method is to introduce modulated coordinates to derive the equivalent time-invariant equation. This paper presents a modal analysis method using modulated coordinates fur general rotors, of which rotating and stationary parts both possess asymmetric properties. The equation of motion with time-varying parameters is transformed to an infinite order matrix equation with the time-invariant parameters. A theory of modal analysis for the system is presented with the infinite order equation and a couple of reduced order equations. A numerical example with simple asymmetric rotor is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method

  • The governing equation of flow in porous media is developed on the bases of the continuity equation of fluid for transient flow through a saturated-unsaturated zone, and substitution of Darcy's law. The numerical solutions are obtained by finite element method based on the Galerkin principles weighted residuals. The analysis are carried out by using the unsteady storm data observed and rainfall intensities which are obtained by using the rainfall excess model in considering of the initial losses. The functional relationships between the hydraulic conductivity, capillary pressure head and volumetric water content are applied to the flow of water through unsaturated soil varied with changes of water content.

  • Propagation of elastic surface waves in anisotropic media is considered in this study. An analytical technique is proposed to study the scattering of surface waves at the interface between two anisotropic quarter-spaces. The Green's function technique is used to derive a system of equations which can determine the scattering coefficients at the interface. A numerical study is carried out and the trade-offs between the material anisotropy and inhomogeneity are studied.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to present deflections of laminated composite plates on the two-parameter foundations. that is an elastic foundation with shear layer. This paper focuses on the deformation behaviour of anisotropic structures on elastic foundations. The third-order shear deformation theory is applied by using the double-fourier series. To validate the derived equations the obtained displacements for simply supported isotropic and orthotropic plates on elastic foundations are compared with those of Timoshenko and LUSAS program. The results show an excellent agreement for the isotropic and LUSAS program. The results show an excellent agreement for the isotropic and orthotropic plates on the elastic foundations. Numerical results for displacements are presented to show the effects of side-to-thickness ratio aspect ratio, material anisotropy and shear modulus of foundations.

  • This paper will expand the third-order shear deformation theory by the double-Fourier series and reduce to the solution of a system of ordinary differential equations in time, which are integrated numerically using Newmark's direct integration method and clarify the undamped dynamic responses for the cross-ply and antisymmetric angle-ply laminated composite plates and shells with simply supported boundary condition. Numerical results for deflections are presented showing the effect of side-to-thickness ratio, aspect ratio, material anisotropy, and lamination scheme.

  • In accurate prediction of cross-flow based on detailed knowledge of the velocity field in subchannels of a nuclear fuel assembly is of importance in nuclear fuel performance analysis. In this study, the low-Reynolds number k-$\varepsilon$ turbulence model has been adopted in too adjacent subchannels with cross-flow. The secondary flow is accurately estimated by the anisotropic algebraic Reynolds stress model. This model was numerically calculated by the finite element method and has been verified successfully through comparison with existing experimental data. Finally, with the numerical analysis of the velocity Held in such subchannel domain, an analytical correlation of the lateral loss coefficient is obtained to predict the cross-flow rate in subchannel analysis codes. The correlation is expressed as a function of the ratio of the lateral How velocity to the donor subchannel axial velocity, recipient channel Reynolds number and pitch-to-diameter.
