  • In this paper, an adaptive temporal and spatial filter (ATSF) based on mean square error (MSE) estimation is proposed. ATSF is a block based de-noising algorithm. Each noisy block is selectively filtered by a temporal filter or a spatial filter. Multi-hypothesis motion compensated filter (MHMCF) and bilateral filter are chosen as the temporal filter and the spatial filter, respectively. Although there is no original video, we mathematically derivate a formular to estimate the real MSE between a block de-noised by MHMCF and its original block and a linear model is proposed to estimate the real MSE between a block de-noised by bilateral filter and its original block. Finally, each noisy block is processed by the filter with a smaller estimated MSE. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm achieves substantial improvements in terms of both visual quality and PSNR as compared with the conventional de-noising algorithms.

  • With the increasing popularity of the use of large-volume image database in various application, it becomes imperative to build an efficient and fast retrieval system to browse through the entire database. We present a new method for a content-based image retrieval by using a variable block size and block matching algorithm. Proposed approach is reflecting image features that exploit visual cues such as color and space allocation of image and is getting the fast retrieval time by automatical convergence of retrieval times which adapt to wanting similarity value. We have implemented this technique and tested it for a database of approximately 150 images. The test shows that a 1.9 times fast retrieval time compare to J & V algorithm at the image retrieval efficiency 0.65 and that a 1.83 times fast retrieval time compare to predefined fixed block size.

  • In order to improve the economics and flexibility of cloud computing, tendency to automate the operation and management of cloud resources has become complicated. However, while automation for cloud storage depends on the manufacturer's storage hardware, it cannot flexibly support the storage type in accordance with users' needs. In this paper, we propose an automatic configuration module that supports block/file/object storages suitable for user environment. In order to automatically install ceph, a cloud storage, we propose an automatic installation and configuration module based on the Chef configuration management tool. In addition to that, we also propose an automatic configuration module based on a shell programming in pursuit of enabling users to use ceph storage of block/file/object. The proposed method can automatically set up and manage shared file, block, and object storages in a virtual or physical user environment with no hardware dependencies.

  • In this paper, we propose Quad BTC that compresses DSM files to allow random access for TRF (Terrain Referenced Flight). The terrain data used for TRF has a large data capacity to be stored in the UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), so its size must be reduced through compression. Conventional BTC (Block Truncation Coding) based compression methods are suitable for TRF because it can decode randomly accessing specific coordinates. However, These conventional methods have a problem that the error increases because the deviation of the data increases as the size of the block increases. In this paper, we propose Quad BTC method that adaptively divides a block in to 4 sub blocks and compresses to solve this problem. The proposed method may reduce errors because the size of the sub block can be adjusted within the block. Through simulation using actual terrain data, it is verified that Quad BTC has less error at the same compression ratio than conventional BTC and AM BTC.

  • With the introduction of proptech, this study aims to find out the changes and necessity of introducing blockchain technology, one of the most popular technologies, in real estate electronic transactions. In addition, it is intended to develop evaluation indicators that classify newly created values within real estate electronic transactions and calculate the relative importance of each value area through technology application. To this end, the value that can be created when applying blockchain technology to real estate electronic transactions was classified according to the hierarchy, and considering that the evaluation criteria are complex and the importance can be measured differently depending on various factors, an analysis was conducted according to the AHP method for experts in practical and academic fields. As a result of the analysis, general value showed the highest importance in the first dimension, and digitalization of real estate information showed the highest importance in the second dimension.

  • This study shows an attempt to generate an assembly sequence and its model for a ship block assembly using the graph theory and graph algorithms. To generate the ship block assembly, we propose four levels of the ship block assembly model such as "geometry mode1", "relational model", "sequential mode1", and "hierarchical model". To obtain the relational model, we used surface and surface intersection algorithm. The sequential model that represents a possible assembly sequence is made by using several graph algorithms from the relational model. The hierarchical model will be constructed from the sequential model in order to represent the block assembly tree and so forth. The purpose of the hierarchical model is to define an assembly tree and to generate the Bill Of Material(BOM). Lastly, the validity of the method proposed in this study is examined with application to ship block assembly models of a single type and double type according to four models mentioned above.

  • In this paper, we propose the random pixel sampling technique to solve the high computational complexity in the perceptual SSIM-based backlight dimming. Specifically, the proposed algorithm selects pixels in a total frame considering the pre-defined number, and generates the block by combining these pixels. Then, it estimates parameters, which are required in the SSIM calculation, in the combined block, and hence, it can reduce the computation time significantly. In the experimental results, the proposed algorithm reduced the average power consumption and computation time by up to 38.1776 % and 99.5828 %, respectively while preserving the average SSIM., compared with the conventional algorithm.

  • Blockchain records all transactions issued by users, which are then replicated, stored, and shared by participants of the blockchain network. Therefore, the capacity of the ledger stored by participants continues to increase as the blockchain network operates. In order to address this issue, research is being conducted on methods that enhance storage efficiency while ensuring that valid values are stored in the ledger even in the presence of device failures or malicious participants. One direction of research is applying techniques such as Reed-Solomon encoding to the storage of blockchain ledgers. In this paper, we apply Reed-Solomon encoding to the key-value store used for ledger storage in an open-source blockchain, and measure the storage efficiency and increasing computational overhead. Experimental results confirm that storage efficiency increased by 86% while the increase in CPU operations required for encoding was only about 2.7%.
