This study aims to create artworks where characteristics of paintings appear by converging beauty illustration that conducts proactive activities in an area of arts with watercolor techniques. It carries academic significance in that it delves into convergence design that reflects creative expression by putting the spotlight on diversified expressive methods of beauty illustraion through watercolor techniques. As for a method of the study, preceding studies and technical books were examined, and a total of four beauty illustration artworks were created centering on art makeup design by classifying watercolor techniques into gradient technique and overlap lining technique. First of all, the result made it possible for watercolor techniques to explore unlimited possibilities at a time of suggesting another expressive method of beauty illustration. Second, it was possible to express unique art makeup design through clear and candid characteristics inherent in watercolor paintings. In this regard, the study enhanced accessibility by departing from limited expression methods applied to beauty illustration to induce a wider range of artworks. It is hoped that beauty illustration can be specialized to achieve an independent artistic domain equipped with diversity and professionalism.

Thanks to the rapid advance of modern technology in industrial society, economic and material abundances have not only caused a variety of cultural industry to develop but also brought about the development of beauty treatment industry. Like this, the industry has continually expanded into the public rapidly by forming a new beauty trend along with the growth of mass media such as T.V, advertisement, vogue magazine, and film. And make-up is also broadening its artistic areas by utilizing various expression skills and consistently changing with beauty trends, which has influences on Make-up Illustration. As a result, it has been recognized as a new conception of 'art' expanding in interpretation of communicating with the masses under condition of modern culture and stressed in its part more and more. It is expected that Make-up Illustration playing an important role in the exchange of fashion trend information between beauty treatment industry and people will be studied in different-image-expression ways to raise its artistic value and be a useful material for research and creation activities in the foreseeable future by Make-up Illustration made of computer graphics.

The purposes of this study are to identify the formative characteristics and the form of color expression by studying Henri Matisse's works. Also, this study is meaningful in that it took art make-up illustration as an original area by incorporating the artistic value of Henri Matisse's works on art make-up illustration. The research was carried out by analyzing the paintings of Matisse focusing on previous theses and related books. Four pieces were produced from the motive earned from the figurative features and color. The results of this study can be summarized as follows : 1) Since Henri Matisse's works used strong original colors such as R/V, G/V, B/V, and Y/V, it was possible to create powerful art make-up illustration through the contrast of complementary colors. 2) Creative and artistic illustration could be produced by developing and reorganizing designs with the utilization of his works.

In terms of expression, beauty illustration has become more diverse and innovative. Because of continued unique creative activities, more novelty has been pursued. In this study, beauty illustration in new artistic and decorative images was used to investigate the basic concepts of art activities, illustration and beauty illustration and make up for beauty illustration which adheres to traditional and classical expressions. In this study, the following results were obtained: First, in terms of expression of beauty illustration, the work with art expressions are still poor compared to other fields such as fashion illustration. Therefore, it is necessary to attempt beauty illustration of a new image which expresses artistic emotions. Second, by using an artistic technique called 'paper sculpture', a semi-solid shape has been completed, and a decorative beauty illustration was created. People get new inspiration through beautiful and innocent art pieces, which in turn motivate to create new expression. New art activities which take a human body as an art support beauty activities through picture and more sensitive inspiration. It was attempted to express other emotion and beauty by observing a single piece of work. A new possibility in beauty illustration which is differentiated from other art activities is proposed and its domain is developed.

Make-up illustration is a field of creativity with visible creative and artistic values; its ultimate functions include communication of information, artistic expression, and recording. Establishing the make-up illustration education environment for the twenty-first century, there is an urgent need for research and development of professional curricula for basic art education and illustration education. It is extremely important for educators and institutions teaching make-up illustration to recognize that training of highly creative and professional beau designers through systematic educational structures is the ultimate foundation for enhancing competitiveness of the beauty industry despite the present reality that there are insufficient studies and publications on beauty illustration and that there is lack of illustration lecturers and artists equipped with professional beauty knowledge. Therefore, this study was conducted to research and analyze offering of illustration subjects by 160 beauty-related vocational schools and 16 4-year undergraduate colleges in the make-up field, which is the field with most creative art activities among the three representative beauty majors, namely make-up, hair, and skin. Education of make-up illustration must not remain as simple short-term education. The curricula must be specialized for providing solid foundation of basic majors. In terms of education content, strong emphases must be made for original and creative mark-up designs as well as purposes, functions, and necessity of make-up design and illustration. The curricula must include systematic, logical and artistic elements. Through the course of this study, which researched, analyzed and proposed measures for education content of make-up illustration, it was found that make-up illustration is the most appropriate subject that fulfills both the ultimate education objectives of beauty colleges and the demand by the society for beauty professionals. It is hoped that make-up illustration is emphasized and recognized for its importance and necessity as an education subject so that similar basic major subjects will further be researched and developed for specialized education.

This research is to provide practical help in learning hair and makeup illustration skills by presenting techniques for hair and makeup drawing; to serve efficient illustration education; and to enhance the status of beauty and contribute to artistic development. Hair style and makeup techniques include graphical one, pattern-centered one, one using pattern paper, simplifying one and mood one expressing image. Of them, this research made the illustrations to use cosmetics, color pencils and pastel based on the graphical technique. for each design of the illustrations, ethnic, sexy, natural, romantic and gorgeous images, which were considered to be appropriate to the graphical technique, were chosen by the researcher out of hair and makeup styles that appeared in the fashion magazines including Vogue, Gap, Mode et Mode from 2000 through 2001. In particular, they were chosen with focusing on basic styles. The summaries below were found with the experience of making illustrations. Various techniques and skills are required to express the ideas of hair and makeup styles. Of them, the graphical technique is very useful as the primary step to learn various techniques and improve drawing skills. First, the graphical technique may enable not only expressing what is desired to draw as is, but also accurately representing hair and makeup designs so as to convey objective expression. In this regard, it is a proper way to achieve its inherent purpose as conveyance of messages. Second, more accurate styling of hair and makeup is available through graphical expression, which helps understand related practical techniques. In addition, makeup illustration, which is expressed through direct makeup products and instruments, may serve skill improvement since such direct use provides the feeling of real makeup. Third, the graphical technique as a basic drawing skill may unrestrictedly show the artist's expression ability. Fourth, although artistic merits implying individuality and creativity should be shared through illustrations that express the artist's ideas or emotions, the graphical technique is the easiest method to beginners who just started learning of illustration, in that it enables expression without highly advanced skills.

The present study aimed to find out the most effective instructional method for illustration to aid the $21^{st}$-century post digital generation learners in their education. Although the literature discusses government-led enactment and revision of educational policy and curriculums and research reports by the Ministry of Education and other government agencies as well as many other research articles deal with futuristic instructional methods, the instructional methods in practice have not fully changed yet. Illustration is a means of visual communication and a subject that best represent 'expressionism' and 'speed' of the post digital generation. The present study exemplifies instructional methods to establish the need for lesson plans that best suit individuality of students and for re-training instructors. Also, the feedback process with students proved that the post digital generation learned Photoshop quickly and improved creativity via image synthesis even in short-term instructions. The present findings can be possibly used as reference data for instructional methods for illustration using digital media that best suits learners of the post digital generation. This being said, further studies should delve into specific instructional methods.
