  • The purpose of this study was to develop a computer-based cognitive bias modification program (CBM-I) and to test the efficacy of CBM-I for college students with social anxiety. Forty socially anxious individuals were randomly assigned to the CBM-I(n=21) or a waiting list condition(n=19). Both groups were assessed at the beginning and the end of the program with interpretation bias and social anxiety symptoms(e.g. B=FNE=Brief-Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale, LSAS=Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale). The CBM-I modified interpretation by providing positive feedback when participants made benign interpretations and negative feedback in response to threat interpretations. Participants in CBM-I completed three computer sessions over three weeks. The CBM-I successfully decreased social anxiety symptoms compared to the control condition(t=2.35, p<.05; t=4.70, p<.001). This result suggests that interpretation modification may have clinical utility when applied as a multi-session intervention.

  • This research was conducted to see the correlation between changes of ankle Joint Position Sense and Sway Area through Unstable Surface training. For the study, 48 healthy males and females were randomly divided into an unstable surface group(n=24) and a stable surface group(n=24). Then, they were asked to carry out the same exercise program three times a week for six weeks. The unstable surface group and stable surface group performed the exercise program on the balance exercise pad and on the hard ground, respectively. As a result, the unstable surface group displayed significantly reduced error of ankle joint position sense and sway area(p<.05). Moreover, a significant correlation between variances of ankle joint position sense and sway area was only found in the unstable surface group. In conclusion, this study demonstrated that there was a significant correlation between changes of ankle joint position sense and sway area through proprioceptive sense training on the unstable surface.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore effects of acceptance-commitment therapy on assertiveness and interpersonal anxiety of university students with interpersonal anxiety. Twelve students are selected of three hundred thirty students who completed an assertiveness sacle and a social anxiety scale, and finally six students were assigned to an experiment group and the others to a control group. ACT program consisting of 8 sessions twice a week approximately 120minutes is provided for experiment group, on the other hand, nothing is provided for control group. All participants completed an assertiveness sacle, a social anxiety scale at pre-test, post-test, and 6 weeks follow-up periods. In the experimental group, the assertiveness score was improved after ACT program but not in the control group. The improvement observed in the experimental group was maintained until the follow-up test. In the anxiety test, the experimental group showed a larger decrease than the control group, and the difference was also found in the follow-up test. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study, along with suggestions for future study were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the mediating effects of positive thinking in the relationship between emotional expressivity and public speaking anxiety. Participants were recruited from one university freshmen located in Gwangju city. Data were collected from 146 university freshmen. The self-reported questionnaire was used to assess the level of positive thinking, emotional expressivity, public speaking anxiety. The SPSS WIN 23.0 version program was used with Baron and Kenny's 3-Step mediating effect and Sobel test. It was examined whether there was a mediating effect of positive thinking on emotional expression and presentation anxiety. In the second stage, emotional expressivity showed a significant effect on presentation anxiety. In stage 3, emotional expressivity was not statistically significant in presentation anxiety, and positive thinking was statistically significant in presentation anxiety. Positive thinking had a total mediating effect(z=-4.57, p<.001) in the relationship between emotional expressivity and public speaking anxiety. To reduce the public speaking anxiety among university freshmen, it is necessary to develop interventions that enhance positive thinking in addition to providing emotional expressivity.

  • The purpose of this study was to find ways to reduce old age anxiety by identifying the differences between old age anxiety, grandparents' connection, filial piety, and characteristics, and by identifying factors that affect old age anxiety. The study participants conveniently labeled college students residing in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Chungcheong provinces, and collected data from 2 April to 15 June 2018 and distributed a total of 250 structured questionnaires and retrieved 235 copies to use part 213 for the final analysis. The analysis used SPSS 20.0 Version to obtain frequency, percentage, average, and standard deviation, and age anxiety according to the characteristics of the subject, grandparents and sense of filial piety were analyzed with t-test and ANOVA, and the correlation between aging anxiety, grandparents' bond and filial consciousness was confirmed as Pearson correlation co-efficient. To check the effects of aging anxiety, polylinearity was diagnosed and analyzed with Stepwise multiple regression. Research found that there were statistically significant differences in age insecurity according to majors, grandparents and ties by gender and filial piety by religion and grandparents. And the lower the bond with grandparents, the higher the filial piety, the higher the anxiety was.

  • This study investigates the effects of communication ability and interpersonal anxiety on self-esteem before the first clinical practice in nursing students. A survey was administered to third-year nursing students who had yet to begin their clinical practice from May 15 to May 20, 2023. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, multiple regression with the SPSS/WIN26.0 program. The results showed that self-esteem is positively correlated with communication ability(r=.564) and negatively correlated with interpersonal anxiety(r=-.590) and there was a negative correlation between communication skills and interpersonal anxiety(r=-.515). The impact on self-esteem was in the order of interpersonal anxiety (𝛽=-.41) and communication ability(𝛽=.35). In conclusion, the research results showed that the higher the communication ability and the lower the interpersonal anxiety, the more it affects self-esteem. Thus, it is important to develop and implement tailored programs that enhance communication skills and facilitate interpersonal interactions while reducing anxiety for nursing students at different school years and stages.

  • This study is to identify the relationship between andropause symptoms, resilience, and retirement anxiety in the context of convergence. It is also to identify the factors that affect retirement anxiety by checking these relationships. For data collection, the study surveyed 87 middel-aged men who were residing in S City from July 20 to October 25, 2019. This study found that middle-aged men's anxiety about retirement has a significant influence on andropause syndrome and resilience. In addition, those with andropause syndrome had lower resilience and higher retirement anxiety than those without symptoms. Therefore, it is necessary to consider ways to efficiently overcome retirement anxiety in middle-aged men, reduce andropause symptoms, and enhance resilience.
