Improving Outcome of Mass Media (매스미디어 운영에 따른 성과제고에 관한 연구 -국내 신문산업을 중심으로-)

  • Recently, management of Newspaper developmet of the internet news, broadcasting and free newspapers escalated competition between newspaper companies and other media companies as well as competition among newapaper companies. This paper analyzes the efficiency of Korean Newapaper using DEA model. We evaluate the CCR-O, BCC-O efficiency, SE and RTS of 30 Newspaper. We also suggest the Newpaper which can be benchmarked based on analyzed information. The result shows that ten Nespaper whose values of CCR-O efficiency are 1, and Fourteen Nespaper whose values of BCC efficiency are 1. RTS indicates IRS of 1 firms, DRS of 16 firms and CRS of 13 firms. To variables on the effectiveness of newspaper publishing companies for the understanding and performance analysis.

Productive Efficiency of the Rose Farming Business: A Comparison of DEA and SFA (장미농가의 생산효율성 분석: DEA와 SFA 기법 비교를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the production efficiency of Rose farm and to explain the factors of the inefficiency. To analysis the production efficiency, SFA(Stochastic Frontier Analysis) and DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) methods are measured, and then, Tobit regression model is used to analysis the influential factors on the production efficiency. As a result, first, the production efficiency by SFA is 88.4%, and by DEA, results are 78.5% and 85.2% in the CRS and VRS model, respectively. In particular, the production efficiency of the measurement results of the two methods are complementary, it is described in the same order of efficiency of each management body. Second, the results of tobit model shows that 6 input-factors are significant, and seed/nursery and material costs, which have the largest regression coefficient value and positive effect on production efficiency, are the most influential factors. Therefore, the results of this study indicates Rose farm can enhance their management efficiency by increasing amount of the seed/nursery and material costs.

Efficiency analysis of the community welfare centers for people with disabilities using data envelopment analysis (자료포락분석을 활용한 장애인복지관의 효율성 분석)

  • Until now, the operation of community welfare centers for people with disabilities has brought a positive or a generous awareness. Nevertheless, in order to obtain a wide range of welfare outcomes efficiently, the imperative step in rehabilitation researches is to determine whether reasonable and scientific services are being provided to people with disabilities in rehabilitation centers. The purpose of this study was to analyze efficiency and productivity of 176 community welfare centers for people with disabilities. As a result, average technical efficiency for community welfare centers for people with disabilities was 0.4488; pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency was 0.6040 and 0.7080, respectively. The major conclusions of this study were as follows. First, applying the technical efficiency analysis, DMU2, DMU3, DMU8, DMU9, DMU11, DMU13, DMU14 were shown above average. It seems to have a regard for political elements in accordance with the regional social and economic differences. Second, as a result of scale efficiency analysis, the inefficient community welfare centers for people with disabilities such as DMU1, DMU5, DMU12, DMU16 are required to improve the number of employees, revenue, facility area. Finally, this study is expected to be an effectiveness analysis and performance evaluation for the rehabilitation services.

Productivity Change and Relative Efficiency of Professional Sport Teams (프로구단의 상대적 효율성 및 생산성 변화)

  • This study measured the relative efficiency and productivity change of the Korean professional sport teams using DEA model and Malmquist Index for 2006-2009. The main results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, in case of efficiency of CCR for 2006-2009, the number of efficient professional sport teams(CCR value is one) are two(Daejeon Citizen, Incheon United), three(Daejeon Citizen, Incheon United, FC Seoul), two(Daejeon Citizen, Incheon United), three(Kyungnam FC, Incheon United, FC Seoul) respectively. Second, Malmquist Index representing productivity change for 2006-2009 are 1.035, 0.9658, 1.5331 for Kyungnam FC, 1.2514, 0.8948, 0.9056 for Daegu FC, 1.1768, 0.8620, 0.9722 for Daejeon Citizen, 0.9368, 1.2609, 0.7714 for Incheon United, 1.0000, 1.0000, 1.0000 for FC Seoul, respectively. This result will be used by inefficient professional sport teams to improve inefficiency.

An Analysis of the Efficiency and Determinants of Coffee Franchises that Use DEA (DEA를 이용한 커피 프랜차이즈의 효율성 및 결정요인 분석)

  • This study aims to utilize DEA, analyze the efficiency of Korean coffee franchises, look into the factors that affect efficiency, and improve the efficiency of Korean coffee franchises. The main results of this study are as follows. First, according to CCR model standards, there are a total of 9 efficient coffee franchises and according to BCC model standards, there are a total of 12 efficient coffee franchises. A total of three of the inefficient DMUs were found to have a value of 1 for BCC, while the other 25 were found to be inefficient for both technology and scale. Second, of 28 franchises, 11 were analyzed to be decreasing return to scale and through future increased investments of optimum levels, business performance can be improved and efficiency can be enhanced. Analysis showed that 9 franchises appeared as CRS and it is most ideal to maintain the yield of future output elements at current levels and the work efficiency of 8 franchises in increasing returns to scale states expands as production scales increase according to specialization and role division and yield can relatively improve a lot. Third, the analysis of factors affecting the efficiency of franchises through the Tobit regression analysis showed that the number of franchises and operating periods had a positive (+) effect on efficiency. Based on this study, the efficiency of coffee franchises should be analyzed to establish strategies to maximize efficiency. Estimation of Aggregate Matching Function in Korea (한국의 구인·구직 매칭함수 추정)

  • The aggregate matching function is estimated to explain dynamics among job seekers, vacancies and new hires in Korea. Due to measurement errors inherent in vacancies data, I introduce a latent variable for job openings and use the instrumental variables to correct its endogeneity. Matching efficiency is also estimated using some explanatory variables like job seekers' characteristics and public employment services. The result shows that Korea's matching function also exhibits a constant returns to scale.

Efficiency and Productivity on ICT Industry (ICT 제조업과 서비스업의 효율성과 생산성)

  • Non-parametric method such as technology efficiency, DEA/Window model and Malmquist Productivity Index (MPI) are used to measure efficiency and productivity of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) manufacturing industry and service industry over the period 2007-2011. The results of this paper indicate following: (1) Technology efficiency of the ICT manufacturing industry were found as the range of 0.34 and 0.39 over the sample period. Technology efficiency of the ICT service industry were found as the range of 0.16 and 0.20 over the sample period. (2) The geometric average of the Malmquist TFP indexes on ICT manufacturing industry indicated the productivity improvement an average of 8.3 percent. Efficiency Analysis of Defense Industry Company Using DEA and Super-SBM (DEA와 Super-SBM을 이용한 국내 방위산업체 효율성 분석)

  • The defense industry is a future-oriented industry, in which high-tech technologies are concentrated. In addition, it is a key industry for maintaining national security, and the R&D of the defense industry is very important. With the introduction of a competitive system by defense industry companies, the necessity of improving the efficiency and productivity of defense industry companies is emerging. In this study, the efficiency of the defense industry was measured using the CCR and BCC model. In addition, super efficiency was derived using the Super-SBM model. For this study, the 2019 defense industry management analysis data of the Korea Defense Industry Association (KDIA) was used, and the analysis was performed by setting the number of researchers and investments of domestic defense industry companies as the input variables and sales as the output variables. Through this study, it is expected that the defense industry's R&D efficiency will be grasped, which will help establish a policy for fostering the defense industry in the future.

A DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) Approach for Evaluating the Efficiency of Exclusive Bus Routes (자료포락분석을 이용한 서울시 간선버스노선 효율성 평가)

  • This study presumes the efficiency of each route by utilizing data of Seoul's exclusive bus routes for the 2008 and the DEA model. In the estimation, it is assumed that the number of passengers and profits of each route is calculated by considering the number of buses and stops, travel distance, intervals and management cost. This study computed the efficiency scores of each bus line in Seoul based on the data for the first half of 2008 and one of the DEA models, namely the BCC model. After analysis using the input-oriented BCC model, out of a total of 18 lines of interest, there were 2 CRS lines and 16 IRS lines. Also, the Tobit Regression Analysis that helps identify the impact of the elements used in the analysis on efficiency scores proved that the most influential element to exclusive buses is the length of intervals.

A Comparative Analysis of the Efficiency of Automobile Export Ports in Korea and Japan (한국과 일본의 자동차 수출항만 효율성 비교 분석)

  • Korea is the fifth largest producer of automobiles in the world, and this industry accounts for the highest portion of the entire manufacturing industry. It is an especially important industry occupying second place in the top 10 export items in Korea. Korea exports about 3 million units of cars produced in the country and abroad, based on new cars and excluding second hand cars. Japan, along with Korea, represents a high portion of the global automobile industry, and it exports more than 4 million cars to the rest of the world. In particular, both Korea and Japan export automobile and used cars produced within the country, almost all of them by PCC(Pure Car Carrier) or PCTC(Pure Car Truck Carrier). Therefore, automobile export ports are located near automobile factories, and are being used in export to foreign countries. However, there are inefficient problems, such as poor port facilities, yard space shortage for loading and unloading operations and lack of proficiency of cargo handling companies. As a result, there are delays in cargo operations, or ships waiting have occurred. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to measure and compare the efficiency of automobile export ports in Korea and Japan. To measure the efficiency of automobile export port, we used CRS and VRS models from DEA. The input and output parameters were set as length of quay, yard area and throughput of cars, and DMUs are 25 ports for evaluating the efficiency. As a result of the efficiency measurements, two Korean ports (Gwangyang and Ulsan) and three Japanes ports (Kanda, Omaezaki, Kanmon-Shimonoseki) showed high efficiency in both models. These results can be used to establish strategies for enhancing efficiency and competitiveness of automobile export ports in Korea and Japan.
