Recently, various industrial embedded systems including vehicles controlled electronically are evolving to distributed multi-micro controller system. Accordingly, there is a need for standard CAN(Controller Area Network) protocol that ensures high stability and reliability of communication and is simple to construct object-oriented system with high control efficiency. CAN communication interface used general-purpose processor doesn't have many limitations in various application development because of fixed hardware architecture. This paper design and implement a CAN communication interface system based on FPGA. It is verified function and performance of system through monitoring communication with existing AT90CAN128 controller. Implemented CAN communication interface can be reused in development of application systems based on FPGA. And it provides low-cost, small-size and low-power design advantages.
The latest research & development trend on friction stir welding and friction stir processing technologies presented in the international symposium, 'Friction Stir Welding & Processing VII'. Papers and presentations about high temperature materials such as advanced high strength steel, stainless steel and titanum alloy shoot up this year. Papers on modeling of metal flow and control of process parameters also increased. The FSP technologies for manufacturing of carbon materials reinforced metal matrix composites were reported, too.

If the cloud computing environment is not sufficiently provide the required resources due to the number of virtual server to process the request, may cause a problem that the load applied to the specific server. Migration administrator receive the resources of each physical server for improving the efficiency of the virtual server that exists in the physical servers, and determines the migration destination based on the simulation results. But, there is more overhead predicting the future resource consumption of all the physical server to decide the migration destination through the simulation process in large and complex cloud computing environments. To solve this problem, we propose an improved prediction method with the simulation-based approach. The proposed method is a fuzzy-logic based priority model for VM migration. We design a proposed model with the DEVS formalism. And we also measure and compare a performance and migration count with existing simulation-based migration method. FPLM shows high utilization.

As the participation of blockchain increases, governance to maintain the ecosystem is being activated. Governance must be managed/supervised to maintain and improve the blockchain. However, as the usage of blockchain increases, there is a limit for people to manage it individually. In addition, smart contracts applied from Ethereum need to be verified for trade that are determined according to status values, as new trade types are possible. This research proposes a surveillance system, Blockchain Watchdog, based on the state monitoring of the blockchain smart contract as a tool for maintaining and developing the blockchain ecosystem of governance, and implemented and tested the surveillance system. As a case study, we conducted experiments on Ropsten and Ganache, and were able to see real-time information collection and visualization using dashboards, graphs, and charts. We expect to contribute to the maintenance and development of the ecosystem of blockchain governance through Blockchain Watchdog.

Analysis on the temporal variation of the stratification is carried out by using the continuous water temperature and salinity data observed in the coastal monitoring buoy in Mikawa Bay, Japan. The main analysis results are as follows. The stratification pattern have an obvious and dominant 1-year period variation and the occurrence frequency (days) are exponentially decreased as the stratification intensity (SI) defined as the density difference between surface and bottom layers linearly increases. The frequency distribution function of the SI is presumably close to the log-normal function type or exponential function type. From the water temperature and salinity scatter diagram analysis, the line and loop type patterns are shown in the bottom and surface layers, respectively. In addition, the analysis of the SI estimation show that the error bound in case of using the weekly-monitoring data is about 4.45 times greater than that in case of using the continuous (daily) monitoring data.
As the scale of broadcasting systems gets bigger and the functionality of broadcasting devices becomes diverse, networking facilities are being incorporated within recent broadcasting devices. Although networked devices can perform many of the additional functionalities, an effective management becomes a difficult issue. Therefore, it is essential to provide an automated management system for monitoring and controlling distributed broadcasting devices across a network. SNMP (Simple Network Management System) is one of the enabling technologies that we could adopt when we build such a system. However, SNMP-based solution has its limitations. In this paper. we propose the TMS800 system, which is a metadata-based device management system on top of SNMP framework. The system is specifically designed for the management of distributed broadcasting devices. It makes it possible to monitor not only the status of devices, but also the videos in the form of still images. Remote control and real-time notification facilities are also provided.

Deployment of an advanced on-line monitoring of the component integrity offers a prospect of improved performance, enhanced safety, and reduced overall cost for nuclear power plants. Ultrasonic guided waves have been known as one of the promising techniques that could be utilized for on-line monitoring. The present work is aimed at developing a new method for on-line monitoring of the pipes during the operation period of nuclear power plants. For this purpose, the steam generator (S/G) tube was selected as an object of tile experiment. Dispersion corves and the incident angles corresponding to the specific modes were calculated for the S/G tube. The modes of guided waves were identified by the time-frequency diagrams obtained by the short time Fourier transform. It was experimentally confirmed that there was no mode conversion when the ultrasonic guided waves passed over the curved region of the S/G tube. An optimum mode of guided wave for the S/G tube was suggested and verified by the experiment.

Most existing routing protocols for object detection and tracking in wireless sensor networks concentrate on finding ways to detect and track one and more individual objects, e.g. people, animals, and vehicles, but they do not be interested in detecting and tracking of continuous objects, e.g., poison gas and biochemical. Such continuous objects have quite different properties from the individual objects since the continuous objects are continuously distributed across a region and usually occupy a large area, Thus, the continuous objects could be detected by a number of sensor nodes so that sensing data are redundant and highly correlated. Therefore, an efficient data collection and report scheme for collecting and locally aggregating sensing data is needed, In this paper, we propose the Continuous Object Tracking Mechanism based on Dynamic Rectangle Zone for detecting, tracking, and monitoring the continuous objects taking into account their properties.

Ubiquitous computing is a new paradigm of telecommunication technology and is embedded with advanced computing technology to process a large amount of data in a normal environment. Generally, ail equipment is embedded with sensors and operating devices to interaction with communication functions. That is why ubiquitous computing must be able to access any devices anywhere at anytime in order to perform appropriate functions. Unfortunately, however, it is difficult to make an optimized design for applications which can effectively interaction with various functions in distributed environment like ubiquitous computing. Therefore, this paper is aimed at deploying interface with server nodules and virtual prototyping by utilizing LabVIEW and embedded application software with additional network function. In addition, given information about sensors collected from context-awareness and location-awareness, it will suggest the ideal ubiquitous application based on context-awareness and apply the advanced application to device control and monitoring through context awareness of lab.

Manufacturing methods have been changed from labor-intensive methods to technological intensive methods centered on manufacturing facilities. As manufacturing facilities replace human labour, the importance of monitoring and managing manufacturing facilities is emphasized. In addition, Big Data technology has recently emerged as an important technology to discover new value from limited data. Therefore, changes in manufacturing industries have increased the need for smart factory that combines IoT, information and communication technologies, sensor data, and big data. In this paper, we present strategies for existing domestic manufacturing factory to becom big data based smart-factory through technologies for distributed storage and processing of manufacturing facility data in MongoDB in real time and visualization using R programming.
