A Study on the Pressure-Swing Distillation of Ethanol-n-Heptane Azeotrope (에탄올-n-헵탄 공비 혼합물의 분리를 위한 압력변환 증류공정 연구)

  • In the present study, modelling and optimization of ethanol-n-heptane separation process were performed using pressure-swing distillation. The pressure-swing distillation process optimization was performed to obtain high purity ethanol and high purity n-heptane into a low-high pressure columns configuration and a high-low pressure columns configuration. The results of pressure-swing distillation process simulation and optimization using high-low pressure column configuration showed a reduced total reboiler heat duty at 5.8% which confirmed a more economical energy consumption.

  • In this study, we investigated the permeation property of single gases ($N_2$, $O_2$, $SF_6$, $CF_4$ through hollow fiber polymeric membrane (PSF, PC, PI) as a function of pressure and temperature to decide operating condition for $SF_6$ gas separation process. The results showed the gas permeation varied differentlydepending on the properties of gases and membrane. When permeance of each gases was represented as a function of temperature and pressure in 3 dimensional space, the surface of permeance was shown approximately flat. Thus, we established permeance models with forms of first-and second-order polynomial. These two models showed high goodness of fit. This indicates that the two polynomial models have enough applicability to predict the gas separation process.

  • The present work has been developed the study of interpretation of separation behavior in gas expansion separation(GES) bolt which has the separation characteristic without fragmentation and minimum pyre-shock during the operation of the explosive bolt. In order to obtain the performance of minimum pyro-shock, the present work used non-compressive material instead of separation explosives. The use of the interpretation processor could be extensively helped to design the shape and the amount of explosives in the explosive bolt having complex geometry, and to analyse the separation behavior during the operation. It is also proved that the GES bolt is the most suitable the separation system necessary to minimum pyro-shock and non fragmentation compare to others.

  • 한외여과분리의 중요한 응용분야의 하나인 oil/water 에멀젼의 분리에 대하여 연구하였다. Oil/water 에멀젼의 한외여과분리 원리를 제안하고, 상용되고 있는 하나의 절삭유를 대상으로 분리가능성을 조사하였다. 사용된 한외여과분리 모듈은 상업적으로 이용되고 있는 IRIS 3042 분리막이 장착된 평판형이었다. 한외여과 실험에서 공급압력, 공급유량, 공급에멀젼의 oil농도등을 변화시키면서 투과액의 oil농도, 투과속도등을 측정하여 분리성능을 조사하였다.

  • Membranes are used to separate pure gas from gas mixtures. In this study, three different types of mass transport through a membrane were developed in order to investigate the gas separation capabilities of a membrane. The three different models typically used are a lumped model, a multi-cell model, and a discretization model. Despite the multi-cell model producing similar results to a discretization model, the discretization model was selected for this investigation, due to the cell number dependence of a multi-cell model. The mass transport model was then used to investigate the effects of pressure difference, flow rate, total exposed area, and permeability. The results showed that the pressure difference increased with the stage cut, but the selectivity was a trade-off for the increasing pressure difference. Additionally, even though permeability is an important parameter, the selectivity and stage cut of the membrane converged as permeability increased.

  • Separation and purification of lysozyme from chicken egg white was studied using ultrafiltration. We have obtained experimental data through the cellulose membranes with the molecular weight cut off (MWCO) of 10 kDa, 30 kDa and 100 kDa in a stirred ultrafiltration device. Certain amounts of egg white were dissolved into 20 mM phosphate buffers of pH 6, 7 and 8 to make protein solutions of $1\%,\;2\%,\;3\%\;and\;10\%$ concentration. Permeation flux increased with increasing MWCO of the membrane. Permeation flux increased with increasing transmembrane pressure (TMP) and decreasing the protein concentration. As the MWCO of membrane decreased, the selectivity increased. The selectivity increased with increasing TMP and protein concentration of the solution.

  • 고압의 가스를 이용하여 고온 가스와 저온 가스를 분리하거나 입자상 물질의 분리에 사용할 수 있는 장치인 볼텍스 튜브의 에너지 분리 특성을 파악하기 위하여 $20Nm^3$/hr급 볼텍스 튜브를 제작하고 이에 대한 실험을 진행하였다. 입구 압력, 저온측의 유량비가 온도에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 입구 압력이 높아질수록 고온측의 온도는 증가하고, 저온측의 온도는 강하하였다. 저온 유량비 80%를 전후하여 고온측 온도가 최고점을 나타냈고, 저온유량비 40%를 전후하여 저온측 온도가 최저점을 나타냈다.

  • 볼텍스 튜브는 고압의 가스를 이용하여 고온 가스와 저온 가스를 분리하거나 입자상 물질의 분리에 사용 할 수 있는 장치이다. 본 연구에서는 직경 10mm의 볼텍스 튜브의 기본 설계 자료를 구축하기 위하여 에너지 분리 성능 실험을 수행하였다. 설계를 위한 기초 자료를 확보하기 위하여, 공급압력, 볼텍스 발생기의 오리피스 직경 및 튜브의 길이가 에너지 분리 특성에 미치는 영향력을 실험을 통하여 분석하였다. 결과적으로 오리피스 직경과 공급압력이 볼텍스 튜브의 성능의 지배적인 성능인자임을 확인하였다. 튜브길이가 성능에 미치는 영향은 미미하였다.

Chiral Separation of Ibuprofen by Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (초임계유체 크로마토그래피를 이용한 Ibuprofen의 키랄분리)

  • The separation method using chiral stationary phase in preparation of chiral compound was wildly used, but in this work, supercritical fluid chromatography was suggested in the stability to resolve the chiral mixtures. To determine the optimum operating condition of the racemic ibuprofen, the retention factor and resolution with change in pressures, temperatures and the contents of IPA % (vol.) in CO$_2$ were investigated. The retention factor was decreased with increase in pressure and decrease in temperature. The factor was also influenced by the content of IPA in mobile phase, while the resolution was worse with a increase in IPA %. From the experimental results, the desirable separation condition was 130 bar, 311.15 K and 4% IPA in CO$_2$. Compared to the asymmetric peak shape by liquid chromatography, that of supercritical fluid chromatography was symmetric which was a favorable condition for preparative separation.

  • Aerodynamic noise generated by the surrounding flow of a train traveling at high speed affects both outdoor and indoor noise. This study's goal is to develop a test method to measure and quantitatively evaluate aerodynamic noise through pressure perturbation data on the train surface. To accurately evaluate aerodynamic noise, it is important to separate and evaluate the compressive and incompressible pressure fluctuations mixed in the acquired surface pressure fluctuation data. This is because the noise transmission characteristics of the two pressure fluctuations are different. First, the installation length and interval of the microphone were determined to acquire surface pressure fluctuation data, and wavenumber-frequency analysis was performed to separate incompressible pressure fluctuation and compressible pressure fluctuation to obtain a sound pressure level spectrum. Finally, as a result of comparing the test results measured in the train head and trail, It was confirmed that the pressure fluctuation on the train head surface was greater than that on the tail.
