In this study, verification of the nonlinear effective stress analysis is performed for introducing performance based earthquake resistance design of port and harbor structures. Seismic response of gravitational caisson quay wall in numerical analysis is compared directly with dynamic centrifuge test results in prototype scale. Inside of the rigid box, model of the gravitational quay wall is placed above the saturated sand layer which can show the increase of excess pore water pressure. The model represents caisson quay wall with a height of 10 m, width of 6 m under centrifugal acceleration of 60 g. The numerical model is made in the same dimension with the prototype scale of the test in two dimensional plane strain condition. Byrne's liquefaction model is adopted together with a nonlinear constitutive model. Interface element is used for sliding and tensional separation between quay wall and the adjacent soils. Verification results show good agreement for permanent displacement of the quay wall, horizontal acceleration at quay wall and soil layer, and excess pore water pressure increment beneath the quay wall foundation.

This paper proposes the differential development of a Taekwondo electronic body protector. For this development, the most suitable sensor system was selected after analyzing and testing various sensor methods (magnetic sensors, electric capacity sensors, contact switch sensors, and piezo-film sensors) that could be applied in the electronic body protector, the selected sensors were distributed to the body and feet to make a more precise hit score, unlike the existing system in which all sensors are centralized on the body. Furthermore, it aims to illuminate using a lightweight film-type piezoelectric sensor on the body protector. In the case of an existing electronic body protector, all sensors and network device were concentrated on the body protector, so users need to purchase a set if they want it. On the other hand, the proposed system cloud can be used individually using a smart scoring WEP program. The effects of decreasing weight by up to 20% were compared with those of the existing system. Setting up a test facility is very difficult, so more study will be needed to analyze the effects of a hit.
In this paper, we propose a deep learning structure suitable for embedded system. The flame detection process of the proposed deep learning structure consists of four steps : flame area detection using flame color model, flame image classification using deep learning structure for flame color specialization, $N{\times}N$ cell separation in detected flame area, flame image classification using deep learning structure for flame shape specialization. First, only the color of the flame is extracted from the input image and then labeled to detect the flame area. Second, area of flame detected is the input of a deep learning structure specialized in flame color and is classified as flame image only if the probability of flame class at the output is greater than 75%. Third, divide the detected flame region of the images classified as flame images less than 75% in the preceding section into $N{\times}N$ units. Fourthly, small cells divided into $N{\times}N$ units are inserted into the input of a deep learning structure specialized to the shape of the flame and each cell is judged to be flame proof and classified as flame images if more than 50% of cells are classified as flame images. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed deep learning structure, we experimented with a flame database of ImageNet. Experimental results show that the proposed deep learning structure has an average resource occupancy rate of 29.86% and an 8 second fast flame detection time. The flame detection rate averaged 0.95% lower compared to the existing deep learning structure, but this was the result of light construction of the deep learning structure for application to embedded systems. Therefore, the deep learning structure for flame detection proposed in this paper has been proved suitable for the application of embedded system.

Single walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) has been used as a material for reinforcing various advanced materials because it has superior mechanical properties. However, pure SWCNT that does not have any functional group has a hydrophobic character, and exists as bundles due to the strong Van der Waals attraction between each SWCNT. Due to these reasons, it is very difficult to disperse SWCNTs in the water. In this work, in order to use SWCNT for production of cementitious composites, SWCNT was first dispersed in water to make an aqueous solution. Sodium deoxycholate (DOC) and Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) were chosen as surfactants, and the dosage of DOC and SDS were 2wt% and 1wt%, respectively. Sonication and ultracentrifugation were applied to separate each SWCNT and impurities. Using such processed SWCNT solutions, cement paste was prepared and its shear stress vs. strain rate relationship was studied. The yield stress and plastic viscosity of cement paste were obtained using Bingham model. According to the results in this work, cement pastes made with DOC and SDS showed similar rheological behavior to that of air entrained cement paste. While cement paste made with DOC 2 wt.% SWCNT solution showed similar rheological behavior to that of plain cement paste, cement paste made with SDS 1 wt.% SWCNT solution showed different rheological behavior showing much less yield stress than plain cement paste.
Uu-ilys, an i-type lysozyme from spoon worm (Urechis unicinctus), is an innate immune factor that plays an important role in the defense against pathogens. It also possesses non-enzymatic antibacterial activity. Thus, there is a possibility to develop an antimicrobial model peptide from Uu-ilys. In this study, we report the design, production, and antibacterial activity of an Uu-ilys analog that exhibits antibacterial activity. The Uu-ilys structure was fragmented according to its secondary structures to predict the regions with antimicrobial activity using antimicrobial peptide (AMP) prediction tools from different AMP databases. A peptide containing the C-terminal fragment was predicted to exert antimicrobial activity. The chosen fragment was designated as an Uu-ilys analog containing the C-terminal fragment, Uu-ilys-CF. To examine the possibility of developing an AMP using the sequence of Uu-ilys-CF, recombinant fusion protein (TrxA-Uu-ilys-CF) was produced in an expression system that was heterologous. The produced fusion protein was cleaved after methionine leaving Uu-ilys-CF free from the fusion protein. This was then isolated through high performance liquid chromatography and reverse phase column, CapCell-Pak C18. The antibacterial activity of Uu-ilys-CF against different microbial strains (four gram-positive, six gram-negative, and one fungal strain) were assessed through the ultrasensitive radial diffusion assay (URDA). Among the bacterial strains tested, Salmonella enterica was the most susceptible. While the fungal strain tested was not susceptible to Uu-ilys-CF, broad spectrum antibacterial activity was observed.
In this study, a mixed matrix membrane was prepared by putting the zeolitic imidazolate framework-7 (ZIF-7) synthesized in Pebax-1657 and Pebax-2533, which are representative poly(ether-b-amide), and the permeability properties of single gas such as N2 and CO2 were investigated. From the gas permeation results, in the case of N2, both the Pebax-1657/ZIF-7 and Pebax-2533/ZIF-7 mixed matrix membranes showed a similar phenomenon in which the permeability decreased with the incorporation of ZIF-7. For CO2 permeability, the tendency was slightly different depending on the type of polymer. In the Pebax-1657/ZIF-7 mixed membrane, the CO2 permeability decreased in the range of 0~3 wt% of ZIF-7, and increased at higher contents. The CO2 permeability of the Pebax-2533/ZIF-7 mixed matrix membrane gradually decreased without increasing the permeability in the range of 0~5 wt% of ZIF-7. Regarding CO2/N2 selectivity, both mixed films showed a tendency to increase with increasing the ZIF-7 content. In particular, Pebax-2533/ZIF-7 5 wt% showed the best gas permeation performance compared to other mixed matrix membrane. This is thought to be because ZIF-7 shows better compatibility with Pebax-2533 than that of Pebax-1657 and also better CO2 selective property.
In this paper, we propose an algorithm that shortens the learning time by performing individual learning using partitioning the deep learning structure. The proposed algorithm consists of four processes: network classification origin setting process, feature vector extraction process, feature noise removal process, and class classification process. First, in the process of setting the network classification starting point, the division starting point of the network structure for effective feature vector extraction is set. Second, in the feature vector extraction process, feature vectors are extracted without additional learning using the weights previously learned. Third, in the feature noise removal process, the extracted feature vector is received and the output value of each class is learned to remove noise from the data. Fourth, in the class classification process, the noise-removed feature vector is input to the multi-layer perceptron structure, and the result is output and learned. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we experimented with the Extended Yale B face database. As a result of the experiment, in the case of the time required for one-time learning, the proposed algorithm reduced 40.7% based on the existing algorithm. In addition, the number of learning up to the target recognition rate was shortened compared with the existing algorithm. Through the experimental results, it was confirmed that the one-time learning time and the total learning time were reduced and improved over the existing algorithm.

In order to reuse existing onshore turbine foundations, it is important to redesign and reinforce the existing foundations according to the upgraded tower diameter and turbine load. In the present study, a slab extension reinforcement method and structure details of an anchorage part were examined in consideration of the reuse of spread footings, which are the most widely used foundation type in onshore wind turbine foundations. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the load resistance performance of a reinforced spread footing according to structure details of an anchorage part. The results showed that (1) the strength of an anchorage part could be increased by more than 30 % by adding reinforcement bars in the anchorage part, (2) pile-sleeves attached to an anchor ring contributed to an increase in rotational stiffness by preventing shear slip behavior between the anchor ring and the concrete, and (3) slab connectors contributed to an increase in the strength and deformation capacity by preventing the separation of new and old concrete slabs.
A solar water battery is a system that generates power using solar energy. It is a combination of photoelectrochemical cells and an energy storage system. It can simultaneously convert and store solar energy without additional external voltage. Solar water batteries consist of photoelectrodes, storage electrodes and counter electrodes, and their properties and combination are important for the performance and the efficiency of the system. In this study, we tried to find the effect that changing the components of solar water batteries has on its system. The effects of the counter electrode during discharge, the kinds of photoelectrode and storage electrode materials, and electrolytes on the solar energy conversion and storage capacitance were studied. The optimized composition (TiO2 : NaFe-PB : Pt foil) exhibited 72.393 mAh g-1 of discharge capacity after 15 h of photocharging. It indicates that the efficiency of solar energy conversion and storage is largely affected by the configuration of the system. Also, the addition of organic pollutants to the chamber of the photoelectrode improved the battery's photo-current and discharge capacity by efficient photoelectron-hole pair separation with simultaneous degradation of organic pollutants. Solar water batteries are a new eco-friendly solar energy conversion and storage system that does not require additional external voltages. It is also expected to be used for water treatment that utilizes solar energy.

In this study, polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) was used as a support and a separator was manufactured using polysulfone and inorganic additives to manufacture a separator with low membrane resistance for application of an alkali water electrolysis system, and then the effect on the thickness and porosity of the support was analyzed. The PPS felt used as a support was compressed with variables of temperature (100℃, 150℃, 200℃) and pressure (1 ton, 2 tons, 3 tons, 5 tons) to adjust the thickness. A porous separator could be manufactured by preparing a slurry with polysulfone using BaTiO3 and ZrO2 which have high hydrophilicity and excellent alkali resistance as inorganic particles and casting the slurry on a compressed PPS felt. Changes in morphology of the separator according to compression conditions were confirmed through an electron scanning microscope (SEM). After that, the porosity was calculated, and the thickness and porosity tended to decrease as the compression conditions increased. Various characteristics were evaluated to confirm whether it could be used as a separator for water electrolysis. As a result of measuring the mechanical strength, it was confirmed that the tensile strength gradually increased as the compression conditions (temperature and pressure) increased. Finally, it was confirmed that the porous separator manufactured through the alkali resistance test has excellent alkali resistance, and through the IV test, it was confirmed that the membranes compressed at 100℃ and 150℃ had a lower voltage and improved performance than the existing uncompressed membrane.
