We checked VAS(heat feeling, sweat and thirst), vital sign, wrong response. We tested CBC, 7-zone-diagnostic system, HRV before and after clinical study. Results: VAS of thirst was significantly decresed in the HPAG than NSG. Ln(LF) of HPAG was lower than NSG after clinical study. Conclusion: The results suggest that hominis placenta herbal aupuncture therapy may be useful for the postpartum women.

  • Purpose: This study was performed to evaluate the effect of Clematidis Radix extract(CB) on osteoclast differentiation and gene expression. The osteocastogenesis and gene expression were determined in RANKL-induced RAW 264.7 cell. Methods: RANKL-induced RAW 264.7 cell with Clematidis Radix extract was stained by TRAP which is expressive marker of osteoclast. The gene expression of RANK, $TNF{\alpha}$, IL-6, iNOS and Cathepsin, those are factors related to bone resorption, was estimated by using Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). Results: Clematidis Radix extract decreased the number of TRAP-positive multi nuclei cell, and decreased the gene expression of RANK, $TNF{\alpha}$, IL-6, iNOS and Cathepsin K in RANKL-induced RAW 264.7 cell. Conclusion: It is concluded that Clematidis Radix extract might decrease the bone resorption resulted from decrease of osteoclast differentiation and it's related gene expression.

  • Purpose : The pharmacological effects of medicinal remedies traditionally used in Asian countries for improving the blood circulation were examined on isolated rat thoracic aorta strips in organ baths. Methods and results : Each experimental medicine was consecutively extracted under reflux with water. Of three medicinal remedies . Hirudo(HI) having the strongest acute relaxant activity in endothelium-intact arteries, Tabanus(TA), Empoly ohaga(EO) were showing dose-dependent relaxant activity. Long-term relaxant effects were showed in Hirudo(HI) and Empoly ohaga(EO). In endothelium-injury test using carbachol, Hirudo(HI), Tabanus(TA) and Empoly of ohaga(EO) were not damaged to endothelium. Conclusion: As a result of this study, the possibility that a part of medicinal remedy may contribute to the beneficial effects in blood circulation was proposed, but inter-individual variation has been observed. Also, further studies on the vasorelaxant effects of these remedies are still required.

The aim of this study is to investigate the relation between Edinburgh postnatal depression scale and Heart rate variability in the Early Postpartum. Methods : The subjects were 33 women who admitted for postpartum treatment in Hospital of Woosuk University from 13th October to 8th December 2006. 33 women filled out an EPDS, general questionnaire and then they took the test of Heart rate variability at 3th day after normal spontaneous vaginal delivery. We studied the results to investigate the relation between EPDS and HRV. Results: 1. Mean age of risk group of depression is larger than non-risk group. 2. SDNN, RMSSD and SDSS of non-risk group of depression significantly increased compared with that of risk group. 3. Ln(TP), Ln(HF) of non-risk group of depression significantly increased compared with that of risk group. Conclusion : The results suggest that there were significant differences on HRV between risk group and non-risk group of early postpartum depression examined by EPDS.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the massage program stimulating the acupuncture points and meridians on the improvement of sleep quality. Methods: 16 subjects suffering from sleep disorders were recruited and the massage program was conducted 3 times a week for a month. VAS (Visual Analog Scale) and KPSQI (Korean Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) were collected through questionnaires, and salivary cortisol concentration test and HRV (Heart Rate Variability) were also used to evaluate the effect. The collected data were analyzed by independent statisticians. Results: VAS and KPSQI values decreased significantly after 4 weeks of massage chair application. There was no significant difference in salivary cortisol concentration and HRV test results. In the group with normal HRV test results and salivary cortisol concentration, the change of VAS and KPSQI values was not significant, while the group with abnormal range showed a statistically significant decrease. Conclusions: The massage chair program stimulating meridians according to Korean medicine theory was effective in improving sleep quality. Massage of acupoints and meridians through a massage chair is expected to be useful as an adjunctive therapy in addition to standard Korean medicine therapy.

  • Objective: This study was designed to investigate the anti-cancer effects of AAH on ovarian cancer in vitro and by using allograft model in vivo. Methods: In this experiment, the effects of AAH on proliferation rates, cell morphology, cell death type, cell cycle, caspase activities and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway were investigated in A2780, human ovarian cell line. Results: AAH inhibited proliferation of A2780 cells in a dose dependent manner. In addition, AAH induced apoptosis but did not affect cell cycle of A2780 cells. AAH also effectively inhibited caspase 3 and caspase 9 activities respectively. In allograft tumor model, AAH reduced tumor volume and expanded life span in a dose dependent manner. Conclusion: It can be inferred that AAH can induce apoptosis in ovarian cancer cells and has possibility as an anticancer agent for ovarian cancer.
