Forecasting the Container Volumes of Busan Port using LSTM (LSTM을 활용한 부산항 컨테이너 물동량 예측)

  • The maritime and port logistics industry is closely related to global trade and economic activity, especially for Korea, which is highly dependent on trade. As the largest port in Korea, Busan Port processes 75% of the country's container cargo; the port is therefore extremely important in terms of the country's national competitiveness. Port container cargo volume forecasts influence port development and operation strategies, and therefore require a high level of accuracy. However, due to unexpected and sudden changes in the port and maritime transportation industry, it is difficult to increase the accuracy of container volume forecasting using existing time series models. Among deep learning models, this study uses the LSTM model to enhance the accuracy of container cargo volume forecasting for Busan Port. To evaluate the model's performance, the forecasting accuracies of the SARIMA and LSTM models are compared. The findings reveal that the forecasting accuracy of the LSTM model is higher than that of the SARIMA model, confirming that the forecasted figures fully reflect the actual measurement figures.

A Study on Busan Port's Marketing Target for Attracting Transshipment Cargo from Japan (일본 환적화물 유치를 위한 부산항 마케팅 타겟 선정 연구 - 일본 서안 항만을 중심으로 -)

  • The growth of T/S cargoes maintained a highly upward trend by an increase of throughputs of North Chinese ports in the early 2000s. Recently, however, it has fallen dramatically due to large developmental projects of infrastructures for North Chinese ports. Despite this situation, an increase rate of T/S cargoes between Korean and Japanese ports is showing relatively high by 8 to 9 percent. Therefore this study pursues to choose objectives for marketing target of a total of 23 ports in the west of Japan by analyzing factors like a trade characteristics with Busan ports, an increase rate, a market share and a fluctuation rate of throughputs. The result of this study shows that Moji, Niigata, Naha, Shimonoseki and Kanazawa port are selected as the objectives for core marketing and Hakata, Akita, Tokuyama, Imari, Ishikari and Sakata port are chosen as ports for continuous marketing.

A New View on Mokpo Port Development Strategies (목포항 물동량 변화에 따른 항만개발전략)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the new port development concepts in relation to the Mokpo port development. To analysis, we examine the relationship between the trade volumes which the port have and the capacities of the port facilities with 8 Korean seaport data. As a result of analysis, the trade volumes of port were found to be the major factors positively influencing the capacities of the port facilities in Korean ports. This findings shows that Mokpo port which trying to increase the trade volumes should have the new alternatives for Mokpo regional development. The new alternatives on the Mokpo Port's development are the model which constructing the Free Trade Zone(FTZ) and port city.

  • 항만컨테이너터미널에서는 컨테이너 생산성뿐만 아니라 하역작업 안전성도 중요하게 고려되고 있다. 생산성 증대를 위해서 도입되는 대형 하역장비의 운영 효율성과 더불어 하역장비를 운영하는 장비기사들의 작업안전성 향상도 중요함에 따라 하역장비기사를 대상으로 하역장비 교육훈련 실시가 필요하게 되었다. 그러나 실제 하역장비운영을 통한 교육훈련은 장비운영비용과 위험성이 수반되기 때문에 경제적으로 장비 운영 시 발생되는 문제점을 최소화시키는 방법 가운데 하나가 항만크레인시뮬레이터를 이용한 하역장비 교육훈련이 제기되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 교육기관에서 보유하고 있는 실제 항만의 운영환경을 고려하여 개발된 최첨단 장비인 항만크레인시뮬레이터를 이용한 부산항 신항만을 중심으로 하역장비기사 교육현황과 그 성과를 통한 항만크레인시뮬레이터 장비 효율성을 제시하고자 한다.

Analysis on relationship between operating problems and competitiveness of Busan container terminals (부산항터미널의 운영문제점과 경쟁력간의 관련성분석)

  • In this paper, operational problems of Busan Port and competitiveness deciding factors are analyzed by field data research and interview with employees in shipping companies and terminal operation companies. In the analysis, the problems Busan Port currently has are identified as follows: 1) low price competitiveness, 2) Lack of new port back facilities and connecting transportion system 3) Lack of operation ability of container terminal 4) Inefficient pour labor supply system. In order to strengthen the competitiveness and leap up to a hub port in North East Asia, Busan port is investigated to enhance below requirements. 1) Hiring more equipment and increase productivity in terminal 2) Integrating terminal operation companies to react maximization of vessel 3) Maintaining cost advantages 4)Proactively inviting global carriers to participate in the terminal operation 5)Making business environment for Global Terminal Operator to participate in the terminal operation in order to take advantage of their global marketing power.

A Study on Succeeding Together-Busan New Port & BJFEZ (부산항 신항과 부산진해경제자유구역의 연계 발전 방안)

  • The purpose of this paper is to suggest a plan on succeeding together-Busan New Port & BJFEZ(that is, port hinterland development). This study deals with the terms of three connection growth factors which are a firm's subjective factors, a industrial environment factors, and a governmental policy factors. According to analysis results of the factors, a firm's subjective factors(4.11 score) are scored the most ones of connection growth factors of Busan New Port & BJFEZ, to be compared with a governmental policy factors(4.01 score). with a industrial environment factors(3.92 score). Therefore, first of all, Busan New Port & BJFEZ have to promote connection growth through as follows, a firm's subjective factors : (1) to procure competitiveness through establishment of connection growth model, (2) to promote concentrated marketing strategy & market response ability, (3) speedy meeting to customer's needs, (4) to procure reliability of Busan New Port & BJFEZ. And, the next, Busan New Port & BJFEZ have to promote connection growth through considering a governmental policy factors, a industrial environment factors.

  • With its foreign trade rapidly expanding and with economic growth continuing at a substantial rate, China has become the largest container traffic generating country in the world. And with trend of container ships becoming larger and faster, the environment surrounding ports in North-East Asia are rapidly changing. The Yangsan, offshore port for Shanghai, being developed on the islands of Da Yangsan and Xiao Yangsan, some 30km offshore, and connected to the mainland by the six-lane highway Donghai bridge, opened phase one in late 2005 and phase two in 2006 respectively and will have 29 berths by 2012 and be able to handle 15 million TEU. The Port of Shanghai which passed Busan in terms of container volume further consolidated its position as the world's No. 3 port with an annual volume of 21.7 million TEU in 2006 and is likely to have emerged as the biggest container port in the world. The Port of Busan, the world's fifth largest container port, wants to survive as regional hub port. In this circumstance, the strategies of the Port of Busan should be established.

자율운항선박 운영을 고려한 VTS 관제시스템의 사이버보안 만족도 조사: 부산항 VTSO 사례연구

  • 우리나라는 국제해사기구에서 제시한 자율수준 3단계의 자율운항선박 기술개발 사업을 추진 중에 있으며, 자율운항선박 및 원격운항센터의 사이버보안에 관한 기술개발이 핵심과제로 포함되어 있다. 국제해사기구는 현존선의 대한 사이버 위협에 대한 조치로 제98차 해사안전위원회에서 '해상 사이버 위험관리 지침(Guidelines on maritime cyber risk management)'을 채택 및 승인하였다. 자율운항선박이 디지털 센서의 거대시스템임을 고려할 때 기술개발 완료시 해상에서 기존 선박과 자율운항선박의 공동 운항을 고려하여 해상교통관제체계(VTS)에 대한 사이버보안 측면을 고려 할 필요가 있다. 이 논문에서는 부산항 VTS 관제사(VTSO)를 대상으로 하여 자율운항선박 운영을 고려한 VTS 관제시스템의 사이버보안 만족도를 조사하였다. VTSO를 대상으로 한 사이버보안 만족도 조사 및 분석방법은 IPA(Importance Performance Analysis) 매트릭스를 적용하였다.

  • 부산항 및 부산신항 개발의 특징은 매립으로 인하여 가항수역은 협소화되는 반면에 선박은 대형화되면서 흘수가 증가함으로 인하여 점점 더 깊은 수심을 필요로 하게 되었다. 따라서 초대형선들은 출입항선 상호간의 간섭이 증가하고, 심흘수화로 인한 조종성능의 저하와 비상시 대응책의 한계를 드러내는 등의 문제점을 안고 있다. 또한 전반적인 선박 통항량의 증가는 거대형 컨테이너선이 부두전면에서 회두하거나 감속, 접근하는데 소요되는 시간에 따라서 항만의 효율성뿐만 아니라 주변수역의 안전에도 크게 영향을 미치고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 항만의 안전과 효율성을 제고하기 위하여 초대형 선박의 조종특성과 주변 여건을 다각도로 고려한 최적의 표준 조선방법 및 응급조선을 2D베이스로 개발된 선박조종시뮬레이터를 이용하여 모색해 보고자 한다.
