  • The present study examined how the psychological well-being of young adults was affected by the perceived parental rearing attitudes and how self-concept clarity and the perceptions of emerging adulthood mediated this causal relationship based on Arnett's the theory of emerging adulthood. We specially focused on affectionate or rejective types of perceived parental rearing attitudes and possibility or instability perceptions of emerging adulthood. We performed survey research with 358 university students from six universities located in Seoul, and other cities in South Korea and analyzed collected data using SPSS 25.0 and SPSS Macro. As a result, we found correlational relationships between psychological well-being of emerging adulthood and other variables. Also, we found the mediating effect of the self-concept clarity in the relationship between the psychological well-being and the perceived parental attitudes: affectionate, rejective. However, we only found the mediating effect of the perceived possibility perception of emerging adulthood was significant in the relationship between the psychological well-being and affectionate parental rearing attitudes. Finally, we found a sequential mediation effect that the self-concept clarity and then perceived instability perception of emerging adulthood affected in the relationship between psychological well-being and rejective parental rearing attitudes of emerging adulthood. Based on results, implications and suggestions for counseling service and psychological education for university students faced emerging adulthood were discussed.

This study utilized 2017 survey research by National Information Society Agency (NIA), namely a long-term follow-up study of 901 people with over-dependence on internet and smart phone. This study showed two findings. First, over-dependence on smart phone had correlations with basic psychological needs- autonomy(r=-.22, p<.001) and competence(r=-.13, p<.001); with parenting attitude- positive parenting(r=-.21, p<.001) and negative parenting(r=.15, p<.001). Second, both parenting attitude and basic psychological needs had a causal relationship with over-dependence on smart phone. These results can provide a basis to reconsider social awareness on over-dependence on smart phone among middle school students. This study proposed few research directions for further study to prevent over-dependence on smart phone and to educate parents.

  • The aim of this study is to explore the school adaptation and aggression of the children selected from 3 different SES communities and to investigate how parenting styles and children' school adaptation and aggression are different according to community-level socio-economic status. Subjects were 441 elementary school graders(229 boys and 212 girls, from the 4th graders to the 6th graders. Community SES was measured by the proportion of adult population holding a bachelor's degree or higher among the whole adults aged more than 30 and divided into 3 regions(rated high, middle and low in the metropolitan city). Data analysis was by F-test and multiple regression. The children from the high and middle SES community were more adaptive to school and less aggressive than those from the lower SES community. And the parents(or caregivers) from the high and middle SES community were more authoritative than those from other regions. These findings tell us that the children from the lower SES community are at risk and that some special programs to support children and their parents are needed.

Data were collected from a total of 220 middle school students responding to questionnaires in G city and analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, Pearson coefficient correlation, and multiple regression. The results showed that the parenting attitude and resilience were negatively correlated with smartphone addiction. The significant factors affecting smartphone addiction were gender, the time of smartphone usage, parenting attitudes, and resilience. These variables explained 21.9% of smartphone addiction and the highest factor was the parenting attitudes, followed by gender, time of smartphone usage, and resilience.
